Belgian Bands

Das Pop was a Belgian band founded in Ghent by schoolfriends Reinhard Vanbergen, Niek Meul, Lieven Moors and Bent Van Looy.

Das Pop was initially called Things to Come, but the band changed its name to Das Pop when Tom Kestens joined the band. In 1998, they won Belgium's influential HUMO's Rock Rally contest.

Tom Kestens and Lieven Moors later left the band, and in 2007 New Zealander Matt Eccles (formerly drums in Betchadupa) joined the band as the new drummer. In January 2008 Das Pop released "Fool For Love" on UK independent label Prestel Records. The release featured remixes from French DJ SebastiAn and Yuksek, and was called a "monumental new single from the Belgian electro band" in the Culture section of UK newspaper The Sunday Times.

Channel Zero is a Belgian heavy metal band formed in Brussels in 1990. They are one of the best known heavy metal bands from Belgium. They disbanded at the height of their career in 1997, however in 2009, the band announced a series of reunion gigs starting in January 2010.

The Sore Losers is a Belgian rock band, formed in 2009. Jan Straetemans, Cedric Maes (guitar), Kevin Maenen (bass) en Alessio Di Turi (drums) combined their love for rock, country, blues and garage and brewed it into a raw and pure rock sound of their own.

Steak Number Eight is a post-metal/sludge metal band based in Wevelgem, Belgium. Their music is a combination of post-rock and sludge metal, and is influenced by bands like Pelican, Isis, Sunn O))) and Amenra.

In 2007 they won a local contest named Westtalent. A few months later, in March 2008, the band won Humo's Rock Rally. With an average age of 15.5 they were the youngest band in the history of this contest. Shortly after this victory a home recorded album When the Candle Dies Out... was released.

In March 2011 the band released their second album All is Chaos produced by Mario Goossens and mixed by Matt Bayles. The album received overwhelmingly positive feedback and was later released in 2012 in the UK by Metal Hammer, who then added the band to their Razor Tour at the end of the year. In March and April their third album, The Hutch, was released across Europe. One week before its Belgian release, De Standaard posted an online stream of the full album.

Belgian Asociality is een Nederlandstalige punkband uit België.

Ze zingen voornamelijk in het Nederlands en spelen korte, krachtige nummers in een stijl die zich het best laat omschrijven als een basis van punk waaraan in der loop der jaren meerdere invloeden en stijlen zijn toegevoegd zoals metal, gospel, ska en house.

De groep ontstaat in Mechelen en Keerbergen, en gaf in 1988 een eerste demo vrij. De bezetting van de groep bestond toen uit zanger Mark Vosté, gitarist Patrick "Vlie" Van Looy, basgitarist Tom Lumbeeck en drummer Chris Raffo.

Na de cd Cut! uit 1997 besloten Chris en Vlie zich met andere dingen bezig te houden. Drummer Bie en gitarist Mukti Gabriels brachten onder andere ska-invloeden op de volgende twee cd's.

John Coffey was a Dutch punk rock/post-hardcore band from Utrecht.

John Coffey is influenced by bands such as Refused, Every Time I Die and The Ghost of a Thousand. The band name is a reference to the character John Coffey from the movie The Green Mile (1999) by Frank Darabont, based on the six-book series by Stephen King.

The band gained a lot of interest when a video and gif went viral of the singer catching a beer while he was standing on the crowd.

In the autumn of 2008 the band recorded its debut album Vanity with Dutch producer Martijn Groeneveld (who recorded amongst others Face Tomorrow, The Spirit That Guides Us and Blaudzun ). Vanity was released in October 2009 by Sally Forth Records / Munich Records. The first thousand copies of the CD were pierced by a bullet. The album was well received by the Dutch press and received attention from OOR, Live XS, FRET, Rocktribune, and UP. The band toured in various countries including Germany, Great Britain and Sweden.

Raketkanon is een noiserockband uit Gent. Kenmerkend voor de band is dat de titel van ieder nummer een voornaam is.

Het eerste album RKTN #1 verscheen in 2012. De opvolger verscheen in 2015 en werd geproducet door Steve Albini. De band speelde onder meer op Dour Festival en Pukkelpop.

Zanger Pieter-Paul Devos speelt ook bij Kapitan Korsakov, Lode Vlaeminck bij tomàn.

Navarone is a Dutch alternative rock band, formed in Nijmegen in 2008.

Kapitan Korsakov is een Belgische rockband. De band is afkomstig uit Gent en werd in 2006 opgericht als eenmansproject door zanger/gitarist Pieter-Paul Devos. In 2007 kwamen ook bassist Pieter Van Mullem en drummer Jonas Van Den Bossche bij de band. In 2013 werd Van Den Bossche vervangen door Bert Minnaert.

Kapitan Korsakov speelt een vorm van rock, die schippert tussen noise en melodie, waarbij met name alternatieve gitaarstemmingen en veelvuldig gebruik van effecten op zang, gitaar en bas bepalend zijn voor het geluid.

Op 13 oktober 2009 verscheen hun debuutalbum, Well Hunger. De nummers "When We Were Hookers" en "Sylvie" werden als single uitgegeven.

Op 27 januari 2012 kwam hun tweede album, Stuff & Such uit, met "Cancer" als eerste single. Deze plaat klinkt, in tegenstelling tot Well Hunger, dat vooral opviel in zijn compromisloze rauwheid, stukken eclectischer. Later dat jaar werd ook het 9 minuten durende "In the Shade of the Sun" als single uitgebracht.
