The world is a confusing place for Wendy Welcott, a fiercely independent and brilliant young woman with autism. Wendy sneaks out of her group home and travels hundreds of miles outside her protective boundaries and refuses to allow anything to stop her from achieving her goals.

The resulting rivalry eventually escalates in personal intensity until it goes too far. In response, there is a bridging of sides initiated by Hassan, Marguerite, and Madame Mallory (Dame Helen Mirren), both professional and personal, that encourages an understanding that will change both sides forever.

Davenport and the gunner Robert Smith arrive in the cabin and they become prisoners of the German pilots.
