Books like The Heart of Avalon

Kara and Adrian are both level two mages with bonded animals, Adrian has Dreamer and Drake, and her first bonded and now her paladin, Stormbringer. Kara has Lyra, the dragonflies and Starfire her firemental paladin. Emily has been the odd mage out all this time, she hasn’t bonded with any magical animals. But all that changes when her and her friends learn that all the animals in the ocean are sick with a devastating water sickness. This is in the magical realm of course, I’m not sure where exactly, it’s not Aldenmore. Emily meets a strange purple and pink baby sea dragon, who pretty much eats anything magical in sight. Including Emily's healing gem stone. This cute little guy is eventually named Indigo, Indi for short. Indi is a strange little creature that is very attached to Emily, turns out he’s a power crystal that wanted to be in animal form to be with Emily. Indi says “I am for Emilee” several times throughout the book. Cute little guy. He takes the shape of a unicorn knowing Emilys deep love for the creatures. He proudly states “I pretty unicorn!” Several times too, which is too funny and adorable and cute. So Emily goes on an adventure with Indi, and Marlin, prince of the mer folk, in order to save the ocean life from the dreadful water sickness. This book has a lot of adventure in it, and Emily sees a darker and much stronger side to her magic that terrifies her. Apparently out of the three mages one is destined to betray them all and turn dark. I’m actually surprised the last two books haven’t mentioned it yet. One of them turns dark at the end of book eleven, I won’t spoil who it is in this review, I’ll tell you after I read book eleven. It certainly adds a nice twist to the series. On to the dark mage.
