This book has a total of three stories. The Three Bears, The Little Red Hen, and The Gingerbread Man. These stories would be great for English language learners, because there are many text to illustration connections. The students can use the illustrations to figure out what is in the text that might at first be unfamiliar to the student. The stories teach the reader a lesson in all three. Lesson one is not to make your self too comfrotable, lesson two is to not expect to be able to enjoy something that you refused to help with, and the third lesson is to be careful who you trust. These three stories teach very valuable lessons that any student could walk away with and become a better thinker.

The Berenstain Bears' Nursery Tales

This is a nice short story collection of 3 fairy tales/fables in the Berenstain Bears little world. They start off the collection with Goldilocks, then the Little Red Hen and end with an energetic run with the Gingerbread Man.  All the tales are well known and they keep the story straight forward to the text and put the Berenstain Bear's treatment with the art.   We loved the ending when the fox eats the Gingerbread man. Most stories he isn't caught and the nephew was quite surprised when he was eaten. It was priceless. He said, that can't happen, he's the Gingerbread man. I told him, he was made to be eaten. It was such a surprise to him and that doesn't happen often. His mouth was hanging open.   The art is some of the best I've seen the Berenstain team do. They chose some good stories and it makes a nice collection. It could have been a tad longer, but it will do.
