The Outsiders is about two weeks in the life of a 14-year-old boy. The novel tells the story of Ponyboy Curtis and his struggles with right and wrong in a society in which he believes that he is an outsider. According to Ponyboy, there are two kinds of people in the world: greasers and socs. A soc (short for "social") has money, can get away with just about anything, and has an attitude longer than a limousine. A greaser, on the other hand, always lives on the outside and needs to watch his back. Ponyboy is a greaser, and he's always been proud of it, even willing to rumble against a gang of socs for the sake of his fellow greasers--until one terrible night when his friend Johnny kills a soc. Northanger Abbey is a coming-of-age novel and a satire of Gothic novels written by Jane Austen. Austen was also influenced by Charlotte Lennox's The Female Quixote (1752). Northanger Abbey was completed in 1803, the first of Austen's novels completed in full, but was published posthumously in 1817 with Persuasion. The story concerns Catherine Morland, the naïve young protagonist, and her journey to a better understanding of herself and of the world around her. How Catherine views the world has been distorted by her fondness for Gothic novels and an active imagination.

The Pearl is a novella by the American author John Steinbeck. The story, first published in 1947, follows a pearl diver, Kino, and explores man’s purpose as well as greed, defiance of societal norms, and evil. Steinbeck's inspiration was a Mexican folk tale from La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico, which he had heard in a visit to the formerly pearl-rich region in 1940.

Red Kayak is a young adult novel by American author Priscilla Cummings. It was first published in 2004 and tells the story of a teenager who feels partially responsible for the death of a three-year-old, and the moral dilemma of whether to tell others about the truth he uncovers about the baby's death. Red Kayak is the first in a series of three books, the sequel being The Journey Back.

To All the Boys I've Loved Before is a 2014 young adult romance novel by American author Jenny Han, first published by Simon & Schuster and released on April 15, 2014. Han was inspired to write the book based on her own habit of writing long letters to boys she had crushes on as a teenager. The novel was followed by two sequels, P.S. I Still Love You, released on May 26, 2015, and Always and Forever, Lara Jean, released on May 2, 2017.A film adaptation of the book was released on Netflix in 2018. Its plot is similar to the original book with a few changes.Lara Jean Song Covey is a sixteen-year-old half-Korean, half-white girl living in Virginia. She is extremely close to her older sister Margot and younger sister Kitty.   “There was something about her.. Even the way she didn't like me drew me in, and I couldn't help but smile.”\
This novella is fast passed and really easy to read. But for me, it was just alright. I didn't love it but I can't say I hated it either. It's written in Prince Maxon's POV which was initially what drew me to want to read it in the first place. It takes place a couple of weeks before The Selection which just so happens to be on his 19th birthday. I really enjoyed the first few chapters. The ones that took place before. It was nice seeing all the work that went into the preparations for the 'lottery' that really wasn't a lottery at all! And seeing it all through Maxson's eyes. It was wonderful to be inside his head, to see his fears and doubts throughout the whole prosses and what his expectations were going into it and whether or not if he'd find love in the end. I have loved Maxon from day one and this just helped solidify it even more. He's charming, sweet, passionate, a bit sheltered and he generally cares about The Selection and each one of the girls. I also enjoyed having his thoughts on the girls as well. Especially the one he has about America :) Maxon is so damn easy to love! The last couple of chapters were retellings of Maxon and America's first couple encounters in The Selection just through Maxon instead. And they were pretty boring because of it. Therefore that's why I'm giving it just 3 ★'s. Even though I didn't love it I do recommend this to The Seclection fans because it does give some good insights.  \
