One of the most popular Sherlock Holmes short stories, "Silver Blaze" focuses on the disappearance of the titular race horse (a famous winner) on the eve of an important race and on the apparent murder of its trainer. The tale is distinguished by its atmospheric Dartmoor setting and late-Victorian sporting milieu. It also features some of Conan Doyle's most effective plotting, hinging on the "curious incident of the dog in the night-time".

For those young enough not to remember the show, this is what Perry Mason - the main hero of the series - looks like according to the show named after him:Basically he is the guy a good lawyer should be: he always sticks to his client no matter what, even if the client in question lies to him, or even tries to frame the lawyer (it did happen quite often). He also almost always wins his cases. I also need to mention nobody would even accuse his cases to be straightforward: they are anything but. So this time a wealthy businessman (for all of his positive sides Perry Mason is never shy when he charges his clients; the sums of money look big enough even now and we are talking about early thirties of the previous century) from a province came to him trying to bring a crook to justice. The crook managed to make a good money from quite a few people practically framing a young girl - the one with "the lucky legs" - whom the businessman happened to be in love with. The girl is ashamed of getting back from LA and as a side job Perry Mason is to find her and convince to come home. Does this sound simple? As always everything becomes very complicated the moment Perry Mason comes into picture. Not only he managed to find a dead body, he also had to mess up with the crime scene evidence to protect his client. Fear not, he always gets a bad guy/girl in the end and this time is not an exception. Does it sound like a spoiler? Sorry if it does. I mentioned about Perry Mason's investigations always being very complicated with a lot of unexpected plot twists; this time is not an exception. This is the third book of the series and as such it is still a little rough with author not quite getting into the groove and quite a few regular interesting characters missing. The final rating would be 3.5 stars which I round up because of a quite unexpected plot twist at the end: slightly rough but still good.

I am pretty much addicted to the Perry Mason series. In my adolescent years I read all the books I could get my hands on in my native language (Hungarian), and was absolutely thrilled to realise how many books were there in the original. Apart from the first book in the series, we are invariably presented with the same scenario: Perry Mason, a shrewd, astute defense attorney, specialises in apparently hopeless cases. His clients are always bang to rights, but turn out to be innocent. At the end the truth is revealed by Mason in a dramatic &amp; gripping courtroom coup de theatre. His "sidekicks" are his loyal secretary, Della Street (his only, though mostly unacknowledged romantic interest) &amp; private detective Paul Drake. His legal adversaries are district attorney Hamilton Burger (or someone else from the DA office) &amp; Sergeant Holcomb (thick-headed, biased &amp; antagonistic cop) or Lieutenant Tragg (clever &amp; shrewd) from the Homicide Squad.

Perfection Valley, Nevada is a quaint little town. The inhabitants live peaceful, tranquil lives. Most of the time. Perfection is home to the Graboid, El Blanco. El Blanco is a thirty-foot worm creature who hunts prey by sound. It is an endangered species, so as long as El Blanco is around, Perfection can't be bulldozed by any greedy developers. To protect their home, the people of Perfection must co-exist with El Blanco, dealing with him when necessary, as well as other strange situations that come their way.

The most notable piece of equipment supplied, is "KITT", an indestructible, high-performance car fitted with artificial intelligence.

Okabe Rintarou, a university student who refers to himself as Crazy Mad Scientist Hououin Kyouma and his lab's members work on a microwave device that can transfer messages to the past. Without getting captured, they should get it working in order to beat the evil organization, SERN and stop their evil plans.
