Ólafur Arnalds (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈouːlavʏr ˈartnalts]; born 3 November 1986) is an Icelandic multi-instrumentalist and producer from Mosfellsbær, Iceland. He mixes strings and piano with loops and beats, a sound ranging from ambient/electronic to atmospheric pop. He is also the former drummer for hardcore and metal bands Fighting Shit, Celestine, and others.

In 2009, Ólafur also formed an experimental techno project, entitled Kiasmos, with Janus Rasmussen from the Icelandic electro-pop band Bloodgroup, announcing his electronic debut album in 2014.

In 2013, Ólafur composed the score for the 2013 ITV series Broadchurch, for which he won the 2014 BAFTA TV Craft Award for Best Original Music.

Max Richter is a German-born British composer and pianist. He works within postminimalist and contemporary classical styles. Richter is classically trained, having graduated in composition from the University of Edinburgh, the Royal Academy of Music in London, and studied with Luciano Berio in Italy.

Hidden Shoal is an independent record label and music publisher based in Perth, Western Australia.

Launched in 2006 by Cameron Merton, Stuart Medley and Malcolm Riddoch, Hidden Shoal is home to more than 40 international artists and an eclectic catalogue of music from across indie, experimental, post-rock, electronic and ambient music. Hidden Shoal's publishing arm licenses music for use in film, TV, games, web, compilations and other media.

Volker Bertelmann is a German pianist and composer who mainly performs and records under the name Hauschka. He is best known for his compositions for prepared piano.

Luke Howard is an Australian composer and pianist.

A piano student growing up in Melbourne, he was encouraged to develop his first improvisations by his piano teacher, Nehama Patkin. Later he studied at the Victorian College of the Arts.

His album The Sand That Ate The Sea saw him nominated for ARIA Award for Best Original Soundtrack, Cast or Show Album at the ARIA Music Awards of 2019. It is the soundtrack to a film by Matthew Thorne that looks at the opal mining town Andamooka, South Australia.

Sunset Cinema Club are a 3-piece band based in the Midlands, UK (Birmingham and home-town of Redditch). The group originally came together in 2001, originally as a hobby under the name "Peachfuzz". However, they eventually changed the name to "Sunset Cinema Club" in 2002. The group's name "Sunset Cinema Club'" was taken from the name of a Birmingham-based adult cinema that the childhood friends would often think about going into, but never did.

The groups sound has been coined by the NME as "Jitterpunk" (James Jam, NME 21 October 2006 pg.18) and is born of a melting pot of influences, all prominent in the mix - ranging from early Post-Hardcore (Fugazi, Minutemen), Post-Punk (Talking Heads, James Chance), Funk n’ Soul (Funkadelic, Kool & The Gang), Jazzy Psychedelia (Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart) and discordant Indie of the early 1990s (Dinosaur Jr, Pixies).

Jóhann Gunnar Jóhannsson (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈjouːhan ˈjouːhansɔn]; 19 September 1969 – 9 February 2018) was an Icelandic composer who wrote music for a wide array of media including theatre, dance, television, and film. His work is stylised by its blending of traditional orchestration with contemporary electronic elements.

Jóhann released solo albums from 2002 onward. In 2016, he signed with Deutsche Grammophon, through which he released his last solo album, Orphée. Some of his works in film include the original scores for Denis Villeneuve's Prisoners, Sicario, and Arrival, and James Marsh's The Theory of Everything. Jóhann was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score for both The Theory of Everything and Sicario, and won a Golden Globe for Best Original Score for the former. He was a music and sound consultant on Mother!, directed by Darren Aronofsky in 2017. His scores for Mary Magdalene and Mandy were released posthumously.

Peter Broderick is an American musician and composer from Carlton, Oregon. He has released solo material under his own name, been a member of Efterklang, and played with several ensembles as a session musician.

Aberfeldy are a music group formed by the singer-songwriter Riley Briggs in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2002. The band is named after the Scottish town where Riley's granddad had a caravan.

Singer/guitarist Riley Briggs formed Aberfeldy between 2002 and 2003, meeting the band in various locations in Edinburgh – Sarah and Ian through The Royal Oak bar, Ken through an advert for a punk band and Ruth through working as a barmaid in The Bongo Club. Riley's early songs, some of which were included on Young Forever, were written as a result of the breakup with his partner.

In 2003, Aberfeldy recorded fourteen songs with producer Jim Sutherland at his studio above Edinburgh's Bongo Club, using only one microphone and no overdubbing. The resulting tracks were licensed to Rough Trade Records and released in 2004 as the album Young Forever. The single "Heliopolis by Night" was NME's single of the week on release.

Nils Frahm (born 20 September 1982) is a German musician, composer, and record producer based in Berlin. He is known for combining classical and electronic music and for an unconventional approach to the piano in which he mixes a grand piano, upright piano, Roland Juno-60, Rhodes piano, drum machines, and Moog Taurus.

In addition to his solo work, Frahm has released collaborations with such notable performers as Ólafur Arnalds, F. S. Blumm, Anne Müller and Woodkid. With Frederic Gmeiner and Sebastian Singwald he records and performs as Nonkeen.

Frahm had an early introduction to music. His father, Klaus Frahm, was a photographer who also designed covers for ECM Records. He grew up near Hamburg, where he learned the styles of the classical pianists as well as contemporary composers. At school he used mixing boards and was very interested in the quality of recorded sound. He studied classical piano for 8 years under Nahum Brodsky, the protégé of the protégé of Tchaikovsky, who lived in a neighbouring village. In 2006, rather than pursue an orchestra career, Frahm moved to Berlin as a jobbing technician.

Le Guess Who? is een jaarlijks muziekfestival in Utrecht. Het festival bestaat sinds 2007 en vindt in november plaats op verschillende plekken in de stad, waaronder TivoliVredenburg, EKKO, Janskerk en Theater Kikker . Ook werfkelders, kerken en oude fabriekspanden worden gebruikt om de artiesten te laten optreden. Het festival richt zich met name op het presenteren van nieuwe bands. In 2019 trok het festival 20.000 bezoekers uit 61 verschillende landen.

Le Guess Who? is ontstaan uit de gedeelde fascinatie van de programmeurs Johan Gijsen en Bob van Heur voor de muziekwereld van het Canadese Montreal. De eerste editie vond plaats aan het einde van 2007 in poppodium Tivoli.

De naam van het festival toont nog de oorspronkelijke band met Canada. Aldus Johan Gijsen: “De naam is een afgeleide van The Guess Who, een Canadese band uit de jaren zeventig die een hit scoorde met American Woman. Veel mensen dachten dat de band uit Amerika kwam. Het is een fout die ook nu nog bij Canadese bands gemaakt wordt. Daarnaast vertelt de naam dat er iets uit te checken valt.”

Christopher Tignor (born March 15, 1976) is an American composer, musician, and software engineer based in New York City. A founding member of post-rock acts Slow Six and Wires Under Tension, Tignor is primarily known for his solo work as an electro-acoustic violinist "making computers coexist in harmony with acoustic instruments in a live setting". Tignor has composed and recorded string arrangements for This Will Destroy You, John Congleton, Keith Kenniff, Lymbyc Systym, and more.

Tignor was born in Morristown, New Jersey. In 1998 he received a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing from Bard College, where he studied with composer Richard Teitelbaum and poet John Ashbery; he continued to collaborate with both after graduating. In 2003 he received a Master of Science degree in computer science from New York University, and in 2018 he received a PhD in music composition from Princeton. While living and studying in New York City, Tignor worked as a bike messenger and assistant to LaMonte Young and Mariana Zazeela, in addition to running sound and stage-managing for CBGB's.

Keith Kenniff is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and electronic music producer. He composes ambient/electronic music under the moniker Helios and post-classical piano music under Goldmund. He is also one half of the indie band Mint Julep, and ambient project A Pale Fire (previously Hollie & Keith Kenniff). Kenniff is also a composer for film, television, dance and performance art. In 2010, he created the record label, Unseen. He composed the song "Years" for Facebook's 'A Look Back' feature, as well as composing the soundtrack for the Emmy Award winning documentary, Blood Road.

Kenniff graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2006 with a B.A. in percussion and composition. In 2004, Unomia, Kenniff's first album under the moniker 'Helios', was released. This was followed by the critically acclaimed album Eingya in 2006. His third album, Caesura, was released in 2008.

Bing & Ruth is an American minimalist/ambient music ensemble from Brooklyn, led by pianist David Moore.

In 2006, David Moore started Bing & Ruth to bring his music outside of academia. As a student at The New School for Jazz in New York City, Moore wanted to write "minimalist ensemble music with a certain filmic sensitivity, one that prioritized grace and texture over the style’s once-radical subtraction." Moore named the band after two characters from the 1980 short story "Daylight Come" by Amy Hempel.

Bing & Ruth's first album, City Lake, was self-released in 2010 in a run of 250 physical copies. The ensemble featured eleven members, making touring and rehearsals difficult to coordinate.
