2013
The lawyer, Iris Boelens, begins having problems with her mild-autistic son Aaron. As her son gets suspended for a week, Iris asks her mom Ageeth permission to spend that time in her house. A fish tank specialist, who drops by to take care of the aquarium, casually says that Aaron reminds him of her brother Ray. Iris is unique child, therefore the reluctance of her mother to talk about this fact unchains a set of contradictory events in the otherwise stressed lawyer. Iris has been hired by the rich lady owner of Benschop enterprises to investigate the accusations of child pornography filmmaker made against her dissolute son. Iris discovers in the office of her mother the real existence of her brother Ray. Through the Internet she came upon the fact that he was declared guilty of killing his companion Rosita and her baby Anna. Ray is an autistic man, who after a deficient official investigation and the bungled decision of a judge was condemned to 20 years in correctional mental health facility. The body of the baby was never found. Iris visits her brother at the forensic clinic and gets a reopening of the case. It is when she starts receiving death threats to abandon the investigation. Someone tried to kill her and Aaron by pushing their car over a river cliffs. Iris discovers that Ray's case is the product of Ageeth, their own mother's machinations. She has been all along the secret lover of the millionaire Twan Benshop. Through Rosita's mother Dina, Iris learns that Ageeth had met once Ray and Rosita with their baby. Ageeth disapproved of Ray relation with a prostitute and doubted the paternity of his daughter Anna. By accident boiling water had fallen on Anna and at her cries and his own desperation, Ray had called his mother. Ageeth came to her son's apartment and took control of the situation. She realized that the baby had to be taken care of immediately. Ageeth made it to the door with the burned Anna. As she was leaving, Rosita misunderstood her intentions and tried to stab Ageeth with a kitchen knife. In the ensuing struggle, Rosita is badly wounded.

2015
A 15-year-old girl in a black gang in Brussels must choose between loyalty and love when she falls for a Moroccan boy from a rival gang. The city of Brussels, plagued by high rates of youth unemployment, is home to nearly forty street gangs, and the number of young people drawn into the city's gang culture increases each year. It's in this criminal milieu that directing duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah set Black, a pulse-pounding contemporary take on a Shakespearean tragedy. Worlds collide when Mavela (Martha Canga Antonio), a teenage girl with ties to Brussels' Black Bronx gang, meets Marwan (Aboubakr Bensaihi), a member of a rival Moroccan gang, at a police station. Keenly aware of the consequences of getting involved with someone from another gang, they at first resist their attraction to one another, but they can only resist for so long. Just when they've started to imagine a different life for themselves, a terrifying incident reminds Mavela where she belongs - and, more precisely, to whom. In order to break free, Mavela and Marwan will have to betray the very loyalties on which their gangs are founded. And they know what lies ahead for them if they don't. El Arbi and Fallah's film moves forward at an electrifying pace, with furious energy and a gritty realism reminiscent of epic gangster films like City of God and Goodfellas. Ricocheting from moments of extreme tenderness to scenes of extreme violence, and enhanced by the raw performances of its young leads, Black is a full-on, no-holds-barred experience that will resonate long after you've left the cinema.

Het vonnis

2013
The life of Luc Segers (Koen De Bouw) runs smoothly. He lives in a beautiful house with his wife Ella and their little daughter Anna, and will be soon appointed CEO of a logistics company. When the family Segers returns home after a company party, and Luc stops on the way to refuel, disaster strikes. Ella Segers is beaten to death by a mugger, and by a bizarre coincidence is also Anna Segers killed. Luc Segers manages to survive, but only hears what happened when he awakens from a coma three weeks later. Luc is able to identify the robber. He takes an expensive lawyer, and trusts that justice will prevail. Due to a procedural error, the state magistrate court sets the mugger on the streets again within days. Devastated by the news he turns deaf ears to the reasonings of his lawyer. He can not live with the rule that has wronged him, and decides to take the law into his own hands. He finds out the whereabouts of the robber, and shoots him. Luc Segers will be taken into custody. There begins a lawsuit , which the media takes care to inflame. Public opinion is especially sympathetic to Segers. However, the Attorney General does everything to get Segers convicted. Against the better opinion of his lawyer, Segers decides to follow a risky strategy by which he admittedly runs a high risk of life imprisonment, but there is also a minimal chance of acquittal. Segers sees that by attaining his objective, it will provide the ultimate chance at revenge on the Belgian criminal proceedings, which has left him, as many others, deprived of justice. The revenge he gets, and Luc Segers is a free man again. But a free man with the knowledge that he will never be set free from his memories and guilt.
