This WB drama is named after two of the six main characters, each with a name rather suggesting the other gender: Jaqueline 'Jack' and David 'Jill' Jillefski, who gradually realize they were in love at first sight. The other main characters are brilliant but insecure med student Barto, philosopher-barman Mikey, a natural womanizer who cultivates immaturity and disarming charm, Broadway-actress-dancer Audrey, who becomes Barto's girl, and Elisa Cronkite, Jack's colleague at the TV station.

Wildfire is the story of what happens when Kris Furillo, willful daughter of a lousy mother, who took a bad start in life landing her in jail, gets parole because Pablo Betart, an excellent foreman who also had a juvenile record, gets her a job on the horse ranch of the Ritter family, where she proves her worth working with horses, especially Wildfire, but still wrestles with her past and upsets the social dynamics there, not in the least because of her appeal on the owners' teenage boys, Jean Ritter's son Matt and Ken Davis' son Kenny 'Junior' Davis.

At a Seattle high-school, three best buds live fairly normal teenage lives, as far as horny hormones allow. Dino Whitman is the cocky one, a beautiful hockey athlete, spontaneous, a born charmer and adored by kid brother Max. Ben is the brightest academically, but comes from an over-protective home which undermines his confidence. Jonathan is the third wheel, clumsiest at everything. They have girlfriends, the main ones being Jackie Bradford, Dino's counterpart in popularity and temperament; Sue Miller, Ben's girl, except for a phase with teacher Monica; Deborah 'Deb' Tynan, odd and unpopular enough to 'match' Jonathan, but as unforgiving as Jackie, while her mother Mia has an affair with Dino's dad Michael, and his ma Annie even worse, with ...
