Goodnight Punpun, Vol. 2
Inio Asano
Estoy intrigado.

Ibitsu
Shaun Fleming
Super creepy!Horror comics live or die by their atmosphere, and this one has plenty of it. An urban legend tells of a girl in Gothic Lolita garb who appears by a trash heap in the dead of night. She asks anyone who encounters her, “Would you have a little sister?” But don't answer or your fate is sealed …Our story revolves around a young man, Kazuki, who encounters the aforementioned girl while taking out the trash. Naturally, he ignores her question and lives happily ever after …Ha ha, no. This is a horror manga after all. I don't want to spoil anything, but poor Kazuki definitely goes through Hell and then some … Haruto Ryo’s creation can hold her own against the Jasons and Freddy Kruegers of the world. The pacing is perfect, and there's this wonderful atmosphere of creeping dread to the whole affair. In addition to the main story, there are a couple of unrelated bonus stories that show that the excellence of Ibitsu is no fluke. Highly recommended!

To Your Eternity, Vol. 2
Yoshitoki Ōima
This continues to be a strange journey that I can't get enough of. So last we had our creature who became both man and wolf talk. So now him, March, and Parona all go together to a city like nothing they've seen before. It's filled with life, people, and so many things that March can't get enough. The story begins to lean into a fish out of water situation when something horrible happens and takes the group to a new place. Remember that big bear? Well he's also back in a big way! This series continues to make you feel the emotion of characters that you may only get 80-100 pages of. It's so captivating to feel for characters like that and the way the storytelling does it so flawlessly honestly makes me jealous. The art is great with some action scenes that are high up there on "holy shit" level. The ending is the only strange part, as it feels out of place? Or out of nohwere maybe, but the series is still extremely captivating. A 4 out of 5.

The Flowers of Evil, Vol. 1
Shūzō Oshimi
Takao Kasuga is a bookworm. And his favorite book right now is Baudelaire's Flowers of Evil. While the young man may often be seen lost in thought as he rabidly consumes page after page, Takao is not much of a student. Actually when we are first introduced to the middle school teen, we find him sneaking some reading as he receives and F on a recent language exam. Nakagawa is known as the class bully. When she is not receiving zeros she is usually muttering profanities to those around her. While she doesn't care for books or their readers, she does have a thing for troublemakers. Takao may not be one, but having read over his shoulder a few times, she knows he is not very innocent. If anything he is bored and aware of it. Together, by chance, they shake up their entire rural community as Takao tries to break out of his shell in a random moment of passion and affection...not directed towards Nakamura. And contrary to Takao's predictions, the girl he was falling for, Nanako Saeki, responds by eventually accepting the bibliophile for who he is. Or at least, who she thinks he is. And therein lies the conflict. Takao is not a hero. He is not troublemaker, either. He is a regular teen who through equal moments of cowardice and chivalry takes a long step towards adulthood as he desperately tries to cover up a dark secret. Takao Kusuga has stolen an item precious to someone he is attracted to, and if he doesn't form a "contract" with his new best friend, she is going to tell.

Ajin: Demi-Human, Vol. 7
Gamon Sakurai

Parasyte, Volume 5
Hitoshi Iwaaki
I found out what I hate in this manga: teeth! How ugly their teeth are drawn! They seem like a monster when they show their goddamn awfully big teeth! I wanted Murano and even Kana have some big parts in the story or some solid personalities. Still the story is about Shinichi and Migi, so I guess I have to roll with it. Now another person near to Shinichi died. I didn't feel sad or anything, so it is a minus for the story. Still I am curious what will happen to all these parasites on earth. What are they planning? Are they going to coexist with humans? I doubt so. Despite not liking manga art, I like the animation. In anime Shinichi and other characters are more modern. Hate oldie hairstyles and clothes!PS: (view spoiler)[ Kana's death in anime was more emotional. (hide spoiler)]

The Girl From the Other Side: Siúil, a Rún Vol. 7
Nagabe
This is the seventh volume in the Girl from the Other Side manga series. This is a manga series that is great for all ages. This volume was more violent and had more fighting than any other volume, but I really enjoyed how the story is finally coming to a climax. The two transformed soldiers have finally tracked down Teacher and Shiva. Will they be able to survive a direct encounter with these soldiers? What are the long term ramifications of this encounter? This continues to be a deliberately paced story with a number of fairy tale like elements to it. I love the unique illustration style and love the relationship between Teacher and Shiva. This was the most action-packed book to date and the story made a lot of progress.Overall, while I really enjoy this series, the rest of my family finds them a bit slow. I happen to like the classic fairy tale feel, the deliberate pace, and unique illustration but it may not be for everyone. I definitely plan on continuing the series since it’s one of my favorite mangas right now!
