Yaron Herman is a French-Israeli jazz pianist living in Paris. He began playing the piano at the age of 16.

Phronesis is a Jazz trio, formed in 2005 by Danish bass player Jasper Høiby, the piano trio is completed by British pianist Ivo Neame and Swedish drummer Anton Eger. Phronesis have been described by Jazzwise magazine as "the most exciting and imaginative piano trio since e.s.t. - Esbjörn Svensson Trio". In 2017 the band was awarded Jazz Ensemble of the Year in the APPJAG (The All Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group) Parliamentary Jazz Awards (

The original lineup of the band was Jasper Høiby, Magnus Hjorth and Anton Eger, their debut release was Organic Warfare (Loop Records). The band's distinctive sound with an accent on strong melodies and propulsive grooves was audible from this first album. In 2009 Magnus Hjorth was replaced by Ivo Neame and this lineup continues. Phronesis first attracted the attention of the UK jazz press in 2009 with the release of their second album Green Delay, receiving critical acclaim from The Guardian, John Fordham referring to their "infectious, accessible sound".

Magnus Öström (born 3 May 1965) is a Swedish drummer, and known for being part of the first Esbjörn Svensson Trio (e.s.t.).

Öström was the son of an artist couple, and was influenced by the musical tastes of his older brother like Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, The Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd. At the age of eight years he built his first drum set and soon played music with a friend, Esbjörn Svensson. Since 1981, he attended the musical grammar school in Västerås and played with Svensson trio. Between 1983 and 1985, he studied at the adult education center in Sjövik before he continued his studies at the Music Academy Stockholm. During this time, he played with various bands of the Stockholm scene; between 1987 and 1992, he was a member of the band of singer Monica Borrfors. Since 1989, he was back with Svensson, initially in the group Stock Street B , then again in a trio with the bassist Dan Berglund with an album released in 1993. e.s.t. released twelve albums toured internationally with great success. They played until the accidental death of Svensson.

Shai Maestro is an Israeli jazz pianist.

Snarky Puppy is an American instrumental band led by bassist Michael League. Founded in 2004, Snarky Puppy combines a variety of jazz idioms, rock, world music, and funk and has won four Grammy Awards. Although the band has worked with vocalists, League described Snarky Puppy as "a pop band that improvises a lot, without vocals".

The band was formed as a 10-piece group by Michael League in Denton, Texas, after his second year at the University of North Texas, in 2004, “Because I was so bad,” he claimed, “I didn't place into any of the school ensembles. So Snarky Puppy was my way of getting to play.” The group has grown into an international super-band made up of "...a wide-ranging assemblage of musicians known affectionately as 'The Fam'." In more than 17 years since its founding, about 40 players have performed in "The Fam" on guitar, bass, keyboards, woodwinds, brass, strings, drums, and percussion, but six of the 10 members on the first studio album The Only Constant remain on the regular roster. Many past and present band members were students at the University of North Texas.

Walter Lang (* 13. Mai 1961 in Schwäbisch Gmünd; † 16. Dezember 2021) war ein deutscher Pianist. Er spielte im Rick-Hollander-Quartett und im Walter Lang Trio sowie im Trio ELF.

Lang stammte aus einer musikalischen Familie. Bereits sein Vater und Großvater spielten Akkordeon und Klavier. Seine Hinwendung zum Jazz war von Keith Jarrett inspiriert. Er studierte Jazzpiano und Komposition an der Berklee School of Music in Boston. Aufgrund der hohen Kosten konnte er die von ihm als ideal empfundenen Studienbedingungen dort nicht fortsetzen und machte seinen Abschluss stattdessen an der Amsterdam University of the Arts. 1988 war Walter Lang Mitbegründer des renommierten und international sehr erfolgreichen Rick Hollander Quartetts. Das Quartett gewann 1990 in Belgien den „Europ’ Jazz Contest“ in Hoeilaart und veröffentlichte zahlreiche Alben.

GoGo Penguin are an English band from Manchester, England, featuring pianist Chris Illingworth, bassist Nick Blacka, and drummer Jon Scott.

On 6 December 2021, the band announced via Bandsintown and other social media platforms the departure of Rob Turner, citing creative differences. Turner’s replacement was revealed as Jon Scott.

The band's music features break-beats, minimalist piano melodies, powerful basslines, drums inspired from electronica and anthemic riffs. They compose and perform as a unit. Their music incorporates elements of electronica, trip-hop, jazz, rock and classical music.

Critics have described GoGo Penguin's music with references to Esbjörn Svensson Trio, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Massive Attack, Brian Eno, modern classical composers Shostakovich and Debussy, or contemporary minimal music composers like Philip Glass.

Joshua Redman is an American jazz saxophonist and composer. He is the son of jazz saxophonist Dewey Redman (1931–2006).

Vijay Iyer [ˌvɪdʒeɪ ˈaɪjər] (born October 26, 1971) is an American composer, pianist, bandleader, producer, and writer based in New York City. The New York Times has called him a "social conscience, multimedia collaborator, system builder, rhapsodist, historical thinker and multicultural gateway." Iyer has received a 2013 MacArthur Fellowship, a Doris Duke Performing Artist Award, a United States Artists Fellowship, a Grammy nomination, and the Alpert Award in the Arts. In 2014 he received a lifetime appointment as the Franklin D. and Florence Rosenblatt Professor of the Arts at Harvard University, where he is jointly appointed in the Department of Music and the Department of African and African American Studies.

Aaron Parks (born October 7, 1983) is an American jazz pianist.

A native of Seattle, Parks studied at the University of Washington at the age of 14 through the Transition School and Early Entrance Program as a double major in computer science and music. At 15 he was selected to participate in the Grammy High School Jazz Ensembles which inspired him to move to New York City and transfer to the Manhattan School of Music. At Manhattan one of his teachers was Kenny Barron. During his final year he began touring with Terence Blanchard's band, recording three albums with him for Blue Note, including the Grammy-winning A Tale of God's Will (A Requiem for Katrina). Parks can be heard on the soundtracks to Their Eyes Were Watching God and the Spike Lee films Inside Man, She Hate Me, and When the Levees Broke.
