Based on the comic with the same title, this series follows the adventures of police detective Sara Pezzini, the bearer of the Witchblade. The Witchblade is a powerful gauntlet-like weapon with a will of its own. Existing since the dawn of time, it chooses each time the right person to be merged with, and Sara is the chosen one of this generation.

The series follows Kevin Pacalioglu, a medium for hire, who attempts to solve various ghosts' unresolved problems, so that they can move on to a final resting place, occasionally with the help of his best friend and drug dealer, Roofie.

Walter Sherman is an Iraq war veteran who has suffered brain damage in an IED explosion. The brain damage triggers in Walter the ability to "find" things, he sees connections between seemingly unrelated events, objects or people that other investigators would miss. Walter is assisted by his "legal advisor" and bar owner Leo Knox, US Deputy Marshal Isabel Zambada, and teen parolee and thief Willa Monday, who is serving her probation with the team. The brain damage that gives Walter his "finder" talent has also left him with a case of paranoia and other mental idiosyncrasies. Walter refuses treatment because he does not want to lose his talent. The last time Walter failed to find someone, it was the IED explosive expert that was responsible for blowing up Walter's Humvee and killing 6 members of his unit.

Wayne and Dahlia Malloy spent their youth pulling cons with a traveling band of modern Irish travelers roaming about the US. Gary Hobson is a stockbroker that got fired from his job and his wife found him uninteresting and kicked him out. You see it's quite simple. Everyday an orange cat comes to his door with the paper (a Chicago Sun Times). Gary doesn't know where it comes from. He did a bit of research and found out that a man named Lucis Snow, was an old typesetter and he had the paper before Gary. The day after Snow died, the paper came to Gary. Gary has two friends. Chuck Fishman, who has been best buds with Gary since college. Chuck wants Gary to give him the scores of games, winning lotto numbers, stocks, or even soap opera tips. Marrisa is Gary's blind friend who helps Gary make all the right choices.

Once a successful and selfish Wall Streeter, Kevin Finn is on a downward spiral as he realizes he hates his life, which led to him trying to commit suicide. To regroup, Kevin heads back to his hometown of Taylor, Texas to live with his straight-laced, recently widowed, aeronautical engineer twin sister Amy Cabrera and her teenaged daughter Reese Cabrera, the latter who is not happy to see her uncle as he did not support them in their time of grief. Shortly after his arrival in Taylor, Kevin discovers from his protector Yvette who no one else can see that he is the only surviving of the thirty-six righteous souls of his generation, something he cannot tell anyone. His God appointed mission under Yvette's protection is to find then anoint the replacement thirty-five, which he is to do by helping others, those specific tasks which he has to listen to the universe which will direct him. The successful completion of each task will result in a vision leading to finding the thirty-five. Kevin's problems are that he may not want to do any of these tasks either in seeming harm to himself, in his own selfishness and in seeing some of those he is directed to help as being even more selfish than him. It is made all the more difficult as some of his actions may seem more than just a little odd to his family and friends, especially to Amy who may believe that Kevin is still suffering from his suicidal tendencies. Through it all, Yvette and her colleagues still have to find out what happened to the original thirty-five and why Kevin was spared.
