Sarah Gerard is an American writer of fiction and nonfiction. She recently worked for Bomb Magazine. She is the author of a novel, Binary Star, published in 2015 by Two Dollar Radio. It was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Art Seidenbaum Award for First Fiction, and was listed as a best book of the year by NPR and Vanity Fair. It received positive reviews in GQ and The New York Times.

Her essay collection, Sunshine State, was published in 2017.

Gerard’s writing has been included in the anthologies We Can’t Help It If We’re From Florida, Retro 4: Selections from Joyland Magazine, and Best Short Stories from the Saturday Evening Post (2015). Her short stories, essays, interviews, and criticism have appeared in Granta, The Baffler, New York Magazine, The Paris Review Daily, BOMB Magazine, Vice, Bookforum, and Joyland. She has written two monthly columns for the online journal, Hazlitt. Her column Mouthful chronicled her relationship with food ten years into recovery from anorexia and bulimia, and was illustrated by her paper collages. Gerard published Recycle, a co-authored book of collages and text, with the independent art press Pacific, in 2018. She has taught creative writing at Columbia University and Sarah Lawrence College. She is the 2018 – 2019 Writer-in-Residence at New College of Florida.

Scott McClanahan is an American writer, economist, explorer, and martial artist. He lives in Beckley, West Virginia and is the author of eight books. His most recent book, The Sarah Book, was featured in Rolling Stone, Village Voice, and Playboy. NPR called the book "brave, triumphant and beautiful — it reads like a fever dream, and it feels like a miracle." McClanahan is also a co-founder of Holler Presents, a West Virginia-based production and small press company.

Sam Taylor is a British author, translator and former pop culture correspondent for The Observer, a job he left in 2001. His first book, The Republic of Trees, was published in 2005 and received critical acclaim. His second novel, The Amnesiac, tells the story of James Purdew, a man obsessed with uncovering the events of three years of his life about which he remembers nothing. Taylor lives in Texas with his family.

Gotham Writers Workshop is the United States's largest adult-education writing school. It was founded in New York City in 1993 by writers Jeff Fligelman and David Grae. It was one of the first schools to offer online education, launching its online creative writing classes in 1997.

The workshop offers courses in most of the major genres including fiction and novel writing, screenwriting and television, poetry, and several forms of creative nonfiction, including essay writing and memoir.

Jami Attenberg is an American fiction writer and essayist. She is the author of a short story collection, six novels, including the best-seller The Middlesteins (2012), and a memoir, I Came All This Way to Meet You (2022).

Eve Babitz (May 13, 1943 – December 17, 2021) was an American visual artist and author best known for her semi-fictionalized memoirs and her relationship to the cultural milieu of Los Angeles.

Babitz was born in Hollywood, California, the daughter of Mae, an artist, and Sol Babitz, a classical violinist on contract with 20th Century Fox. Her father was of Russian Jewish descent and her mother had Cajun (French) ancestry. Babitz's parents were friends with the composer Igor Stravinsky, who was her godfather. She attended Hollywood High School.: 39–40 

In 1963, her first brush with notoriety came through Julian Wasser's iconic photograph of a nude, 20-year-old Babitz playing chess with the artist Marcel Duchamp on the occasion of his landmark retrospective at the Pasadena Art Museum. The show was curated by Walter Hopps, with whom Babitz was having an affair at the time. The photograph is described by the Smithsonian Archives of American Art as being "among the key documentary images of American modern art".
