Biography

DumDum Boys started up in the late 1970s as a punk band under the name Wannskrækk and released a few singles under that name before they reinvented themselves with a new name and a somewhat new sound in 1985. Inspired by Lasse Myrvold and The Aller Værste!, they produced their own music with Norvegian lyrics.

The new name, "DumDum Boys", was taken from a song on the album The Idiot by Iggy Pop. Their debut album is called Blodig alvor (na na na na na).

Bukkene Bruse (established 1989 in Norway) is a Norwegian Traditional folk music band, presenting a varied repertoire of traditional and folk-style Norwegian songs, but also including many new compositions based on various Norwegian musical traditions.

The members of the group include Annbjørg Lien, a prominent Hardanger fiddle and nyckelharpa (keyed fiddle) player; Arve Moen Bergset, fiddle player and vocalist; flutist Steinar Ofsdal; and pipe organist Bjørn Ole Rasch. The name of the group is taken from the fairy tale of the Three Billy Goats Gruff (Norwegian: De tre bukkene Bruse).

The group was formed 1988 in Norway and has travelled and performed widely in Scandinavia, and elsewhere. They were selected as official Olympic Musicians for the Lillehammer Olympic Games and performed at the closing ceremony.

Seigmen (formed in 1989 in Tønsberg, Vestfold, Norway) is a Norwegian alternative rock band who came into prominence in the early 1990s. The band's name is derived from Norwegian sweets brand Laban Seigmenn. The band went from a hard-edged grunge-like style to a more dynamic sound with more ambient parts and use of synthesizers and various audio-effects.

Møklebust, Ljung and Ronthi formed the band Zeromancer in 2000. Ljung also has a solo project under the name Ljungblut.

The band was formed in Tønsberg, Norway, in 1989. Økshoff and Møklebust started a band with the name Klisne Seigmenn having their first gig at the “Julerock” (“Christmas rock”) event in Tønsberg on December 27, 1989. In 1990, Christensen, Ljung and Ronthi joined the band. They recorded several studio albums, including two with American producer Sylvia Massy in Los Angeles. After a farewell tour they split, relocated to Los Angeles and formed Zeromancer in January 2000.

Kaizers Orchestra is a Norwegian alternative rock band formed on 1 January 2000. They are notable for being among the first non-black metal Norwegian artists singing in their native language to become popular beyond Scandinavia.

In 2012, the group announced that following a 2013 "Farewell Tour", they would take a long break. Their final concert was held on 14 September 2013 at DNB Arena in Stavanger, and was also streamed live online. Following weeks of teasers and speculation, the band confirmed a reunion and comeback tour scheduled for 2023.

As of 2022, the band has released eight studio albums, five live albums and several EPs and video releases.

In 1998, childhood friends Janove Ottesen and Geir Zahl released their only album by their band gnom called Mys. Of its 1000 copies, only 500 or so were sold the first year. However, they were known well in the area around Stavanger in Norway, having played as the local band Blod, snått & juling, and one of the songs they wrote after Mys called "Bastard" got good crowd response. A line from "Bastard" ("A certain Mr. Kaizer took me in/He is the proud owner of the world's heaviest siamese cat") and the song's overall crowd response became a source of inspiration for Ottesen, and after gnom dissolved after disappointing record sales, he formed Kaizers Orchestra.

deLillos is a Norwegian poprock band formed in Oslo in 1984. They are generally regarded as one the "Four Greats" in modern Norwegian pop music, i.e. one of the four 1980s groups that founded a new tradition for rock music with lyrics in Norwegian. The remaining three "Greats" are DumDum Boys, Raga Rockers and Jokke & Valentinerne.

The group was formed in 1984 by Lars Lillo-Stenberg with bassist and occasional vocalist Lars Fredrik Beckstrøm and drummer Rune Lindstrøm. In 1985, Lindstrøm left the band to join the Hare Krishna movement and was replaced by Øystein Jevanord. In 1988, Jevanord left and was replaced by Øystein Paasche. In 1992, the band added guitarist Lars Lundevall.

Valkyrien Allstars (established 2003 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian Hardingfele Trio whose music is based on Norwegian traditional folk music. They present many different genres and styles with a very distinctive sound.

In 2006 Valkyrien Allstars was awarded Grappa's Debutant prize and received a recording contract under the direction of Grappa Music Publishing. Their debut album Valkyrien Allstars was released 1 October 2007 on the label Heilo. The band was nominated for Spellemannprisen 2007 in the open class Newcomer of the Year, and the album gained platinum album status in 2008. On 31 August 2009 they released their second album To Måner, and the third Ingen Hverdag in 2011, all of which were under the Heilo label.

Sivert Høyem (born 22 January 1976) is a Norwegian musician, best known as the vocalist of the rock band Madrugada. After the band broke up following the death of Robert Burås in 2007, he has enjoyed success as a solo artist and is also a member of The Volunteers with whom he released the album Exiles in 2006.

Høyem is a son of forestry teacher Asbjørn Høyem and politician Jørun Drevland. He hails from Kleiva in Sortland, and attended Sortland Upper Secondary School before moving to Oslo in 1995. Whilst pursuing a music career he minored in history at the University of Oslo.

Høyem rose to fame in the late 1990s when Madrugada made their Norwegian breakthrough with debut album Industrial Silence. The band members included Sivert Høyem (vocals), Frode Jacobsen (bass), and Robert Burås (guitar). After the death of Burås on 12 July 2007, Høyem and Jacobsen decided to finish recording their latest album. The album, entitled Madrugada, was released on 21 January 2008. After the release of the album the band announced they would split after one last tour. They performed their last ever concert on 15 November 2008 at Oslo Spektrum.
