Phronesis is a Jazz trio, formed in 2005 by Danish bass player Jasper Høiby, the piano trio is completed by British pianist Ivo Neame and Swedish drummer Anton Eger. Phronesis have been described by Jazzwise magazine as "the most exciting and imaginative piano trio since e.s.t. - Esbjörn Svensson Trio". In 2017 the band was awarded Jazz Ensemble of the Year in the APPJAG (The All Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group) Parliamentary Jazz Awards (

The original lineup of the band was Jasper Høiby, Magnus Hjorth and Anton Eger, their debut release was Organic Warfare (Loop Records). The band's distinctive sound with an accent on strong melodies and propulsive grooves was audible from this first album. In 2009 Magnus Hjorth was replaced by Ivo Neame and this lineup continues. Phronesis first attracted the attention of the UK jazz press in 2009 with the release of their second album Green Delay, receiving critical acclaim from The Guardian, John Fordham referring to their "infectious, accessible sound".

Yazz Ahmed (born 1983) is a British-Bahraini trumpeter, flugelhornist and composer. Her music mixes Arabic and Western influences.

She has worked with Toshiko Akiyoshi, Rufus Reid, John Zorn, Ash Walker, the London Jazz Orchestra, and also recorded and performed with Radiohead, Lee Perry, ABC, Swing Out Sister, Joan as Police Woman, Tarek Yamani and Amel Zen, and the band These New Puritans.

Born in London to a British mother and a Bahraini father, Ahmed spent her childhood in Bahrain before returning to London at the age of nine. She started playing the trumpet at an early age, encouraged by her maternal grandfather Terry Brown, a jazz trumpet player. She completed a master's degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

Polar Bear is a British experimental jazz band led by drummer Seb Rochford with Pete Wareham and Mark Lockheart on tenor saxophone, Tom Herbert on double bass and Leafcutter John on electronics and occasionally guitar or mandolin.

Portico Quartet are an instrumental band from London, UK. They are known for their use of the hang, a modern percussion instrument. Their debut album, Knee-Deep in the North Sea, was nominated for the 2008 Mercury Prize and was Time Out’s Jazz, Folk and World album of the year 2007.

Late Night Tales: Bonobo is a mix album compiled by British musician Bonobo, released on 17 November 2013 as part of the Late Night Tales series. The mix includes tracks from artists such as Nina Simone, Lapalux, Bill Evans, The Invisible and Dorothy Ashby. It also features an exclusive Bonobo cover version of Donovan’s "Get Thy Bearings".

The Comet Is Coming is a London-based band who incorporate elements of jazz, electronica, funk and psychedelic rock.

The band originally recorded for The Leaf Label, on which their debut EP Prophecy was released, on limited edition 12" vinyl, on 13 November 2015, with the full-length album Channel the Spirits following on 1 April 2016. The album was nominated for the 2016 Mercury Prize, and in 2018 the band signed with Impulse!.

The members of the band use the pseudonyms "King Shabaka", "Danalogue", and "Betamax" to respectively refer to saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings, keyboardist Dan Leavers, and drummer Max Hallett.

In a 2013 interview, Hutchings explained the name of the band thus: "The name of the group comes from a BBC Radiophonic Workshop piece of the same name. Once we heard this piece, with its allusions to sci-fi, cosmic remembrances and general space, it instantly struck a chord. We're exploring new sound worlds and aiming to destroy all musical ideals which are unfit for our purposes so the name stuck."

Mammal Hands are a British band from Norwich. Members include Jordan Smart on saxophone, Nick Smart on piano and Jesse Barrett on drums and tabla.

Moses Boyd (born 30 April 1991) is a British jazz drummer, composer, record producer, bandleader and radio host. His debut solo studio album Dark Matter (2020) was nominated for the 2020 Mercury Prize.

In 2014, Boyd and saxophonist Binker Golding formed the duo Binker & Moses and released three consecutive albums, with accolades including one MOBO Award, two Jazz FM Awards and a Parliamentary Jazz Award. In 2022, Binker & Moses released their fourth album, Feeding the Machine, to critical acclaim.

Boyd's self-titled jazz band Moses Boyd Exodus (also known as the Exodus) released several mixtapes in the mid-2010s and together have recorded most of Boyd's solo releases. The group consists of Theon Cross (tubist), Artie Zaitz (guitarist), Binker Golding (saxophonist) and Nathaniel Cross (trombonist).

Kamasi Washington is an American jazz saxophonist. He is a founding member of the jazz collective West Coast Get Down.

Makaya Marcus McCraven (* 19. Oktober 1983 in Paris) ist ein französisch-amerikanischer Jazzmusiker (Schlagzeug, Komposition) und nach eigenen Angaben ein beat scientist.

McCraven, Sohn des Schlagzeugers Steve McCraven und der Folksängerin und -flötistin Ágnes Zsigmondi (Kolinda), wuchs zunächst in Frankreich, dann im Pioneer Valley in Massachusetts auf. Gemeinsam mit Schülern im Schlagzeugensemble seines Vaters, den CMSS Bashers, spielte er im Alter von fünf Jahren. In der Mittelschule gründete er zusammen mit Freunden eine Band, um die Volkslieder seiner Mutter zu begleiten. In der High School war McCraven Mitbegründer von Cold Duck Complex, einer Jazz-Hip-Hop-Band, die im Nordosten der USA eine starke Anhängerschaft entwickelte und drei Alben veröffentlichte. Er studierte Musik an der University of Massachusetts Amherst, schloss aber sein Studium nie ab (obwohl er Teil des University Jazz Orchestra war und verschiedene Down-Beat-Studentenpreise erhielt).

Neil Cowley is an English contemporary pianist and composer. He has also released music as part of Fragile State, the Green Nuns of the Revolution, and the Neil Cowley Trio. With his trio, he appeared on Later... with Jools Holland in April 2008 and won the 2007 BBC Jazz Award for best album for Displaced. In 2018, Cowley announced he was working on a new electronic focused solo project. In 2020, Cowley announced his debut solo album, 'Hall of Mirrors'.

Shabaka Hutchings is a British-Barbadian jazz saxophonist, clarinetist and band leader. He leads the bands Sons of Kemet and Shabaka and the Ancestors. He is also a member of The Comet Is Coming, performing under the stage name King Shabaka.

Hutchings has played saxophone with the Sun Ra Arkestra, Floating Points, Mulatu Astatke, Polar Bear, Melt Yourself Down, Heliocentrics and Zed-U.

Hutchings was born in London, but moved to Birmingham at the age of two. From the age of six was raised in his parents' native Barbados. There as a nine-year-old he picked up the clarinet and practised along to the hiphop verses of Nas, Notorious BIG and Tupac, as well as the rhythms of Crop Over. He returned to England to receive a classical-music degree on the instrument. In London he joined the Tomorrow's Warriors programme, a blues workshop led by expat New Orleans trumpeter Abram Wilson, where Hutchings met many of his future collaborators in the burgeoning South East London jazz scene.

GoGo Penguin are an English band from Manchester, England, featuring pianist Chris Illingworth, bassist Nick Blacka, and drummer Jon Scott.

On 6 December 2021, the band announced via Bandsintown and other social media platforms the departure of Rob Turner, citing creative differences. Turner’s replacement was revealed as Jon Scott.

The band's music features break-beats, minimalist piano melodies, powerful basslines, drums inspired from electronica and anthemic riffs. They compose and perform as a unit. Their music incorporates elements of electronica, trip-hop, jazz, rock and classical music.

Critics have described GoGo Penguin's music with references to Esbjörn Svensson Trio, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Massive Attack, Brian Eno, modern classical composers Shostakovich and Debussy, or contemporary minimal music composers like Philip Glass.

Get the Blessing are a jazz rock quartet based in Bristol, England. The band formed in 2000 when Jim Barr and Clive Deamer (drums), who had played with Portishead, joined Jake McMurchie (saxophone) and Pete Judge (trumpet) over their appreciation of Ornette Coleman.
