Candan Erçetin

Candan Erçetin (pronounced ['dʒandan 'ertʃetin]; born 10 February 1961) is a Turkish singer-songwriter. Over the twenty five years of her singing career, she has been recognized for preparing and singing songs about human life. Despite the fact that she made her albums without much publicity, her work influenced other artists. Erçetin has released many music videos with different themes. Because her family originate from the Balkans, she has often used elements of Balkan music in her songs and works. In addition to Turkish, she has written songs in French and Greek.

Erçetin was born in Kırklareli and is of Albanian descent. Her father is an Albanian immigrant from Prishtina, Kosovo, while her mother is an Albanian immigrant from Skopje, North Macedonia. She later moved to Istanbul and attended Galatasaray High School. In the following years she received voice training. She later studied classical archeology at Istanbul University. In her final year at school, she recorded the song "Halley" and represented Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest 1986 with the group Klips ve Onlar. However, she did not want to continue her musical career and kept studying archeology. In 1995, she released her debut album Hazırım, and in 1997 her song "Yalan" from the album Çapkın became a hit in Turkey. In 2000, she released her best-selling album Elbette, followed by the hit song "Gamsız Hayat" from the album Neden (2002). She subsequently released numerous other albums including Melek (2004), Kırık Kalpler Durağında (2009) and Milyonlarca Kuştuk... (2013). Alongside these works, she has released the albums Chante Hier Pour Aujourd'hui (2003) and Aranjman 2011 (2011), which include French songs, and the album Aman Doktor (2005) that features Greek songs.

Gece Yolcuları

Gece Yolcuları(literally "Night Riders" or "Night Travelers") is a Turkish soft rock band.

They established as a university band in 1993, working as amateurs till 1995, when they started their professional career. At first the main aim of the band was to compose and share their authentic music and to obtain a distinctive style. In 2004 they recorded their first album “Gece Yolculari” as a production of EMI/Turkey and made a great success with their first single “Unut Beni”. In 2005 that song was demanded to be a theme in Hayat Bilgisi, one of the most popular TV series in Turkey and after it had appeared on TV, it aroused a great interest all over the country. With the success of their television appearance, the band embarked a tour thanks to which they managed to play in front of thousands of fans, especially performing at universities and cities in Turkey. The band took part in many projects in the frame of their social responsibilities and appeared one of these projects having been held for the survivors in tsunami disaster in South Asia “Hand in Hand for South Asia“ in 2005. They made music videos for the songs in the first album “Yaban Gülü” and “Ölüm de Var” and they were on lists for a long time. The video “Yaban Gülü” was broadcast on MTV Europe and aroused interest. In late 2005, they accorded TMC and in 2006 they released “Gece Yolculari 2” with Cem Özkan who was at the same time the producer of the first album. The first single of the second album was “Neredesin”. “Gece Yolculari” proved how the style of the band was stable and open to improve and with the success of this album Gece Yolculari was up on the lists and the agenda again. The second video of the album “Seninle Bir Dakika” won everybody’s approval with its sound and the harmonization. The third video “Hüzün” was up on the lists for months as an indicator of the band’s being permanent. People found the last video of this album “Gökler Agliyor” successful as a love ballad. During Gece Yolculari 2, the band went on a tour and met their fans and saw their success. Apart from the album, they got on in the music with the other projects. For instance, they made “BABEYLI” in association with Ramiz for a film by Ö. Faruk Sorak “SINAV” which criticised Turkish Education System. In addition, “Babeyli” was the first attempt of a 9/8 rap song in Turkey and an authentic rock-rap performance, it was also the first soundtrack of the band. The band made a march for Fenerbahçe’s 100th anniversary, they also composed Trabzonspor 40th March. They released their third album on February 14, 2008. The first single of this album is “Deger mi” by Aysel Gürel and Onno Tunç.

Kolera

Yunus Özyavuz, better known by his stage name Sagopa Kajmer, is a Turkish rapper, songwriter, record producer, and DJ. He was born in 1978 in Samsun, and finished his primary and high school there. He then started working as a DJ in one of Samsun's local radio stations. In order to continue his education, he moved to Istanbul and studied Persian language and literature at Istanbul University. In 1998, he founded the hip hop band Kuvvetmira and started his career with his stage name "Silahsız Kuvvet". He featured in the compilation album Yeraltı Operasyonu as Silahsız Kuvvet in 1999. He later changed his stage name to Sagopa Kajmer and released an album with the same name Sagopa Kajmer in 2002. Following the release of the album, he released Bir Pesimistin Gözyaşları in 2004. Same year, he contributed to the soundtrack for the movie G.O.R.A.. He released another studio album Romantizma in 2005 and on 11 August 2005 found his own production company Melankolia Müzik. In 2006, he released the compilation album Kafile under the label Melankolia Müzik. On 1 August 2006, he married fellow rapper Kolera. In 2007, they released their first mutual album İkimizi Anlatan Bir Şey. He released two more solo albums, Kötü İnsanları Tanıma Senesi (2008) and Şarkı Koleksiyoncusu (2009), before releasing another mutual album with Kolera, Bendeki Sen, in 2010. Since then, he has released four studio albums: Saydam Odalar (2011), Kalp Hastası (2013), Ahmak Islatan (2017) and Kağıt Kesikleri (2022).

Tarkan

Tarkan Tevetoğlu (Turkish pronunciation: [taɾˈkan teveˈtoːɫu]; born 17 October 1972) is a Turkish singer-songwriter. Since the early 1990s, with the successful sales of his albums, he has been a prominent figure of pop music, recognized in Turkey and worldwide.

Tarkan was born and raised in Alzey, Rhineland-Palatinate. In 1986, he moved to Turkey together with his family. Tarkan, who had been interested in music since his childhood, went to high school at Karamürsel and took music lessons. In the following years, he met the owner of İstanbul Plak, Mehmet Söğütoğlu, and signed a contract to release his own album.

Tarkan released his first album Yine Sensiz in late 1992 with "Kıl Oldum" being chosen as its lead single. His second and third albums, Aacayipsin and Ölürüm Sana, were released in 1994 and 1998 respectively. The song "Şımarık" from Ölürüm Sana became popular in a number of countries. In 1998, he signed a new contract with Universal Music Group. In 1999, his compilation album, Tarkan, received platinum and gold certifications in several countries. In 2001, he made music videos for the songs "Kuzu Kuzu, "Hüp" and "Verme" from his fourth studio album Karma. Two years later, extended play Dudu performed well on the sales charts, and in 2006 with the release of his first English album, Come Closer, he became known in Europe. "Bounce" and "Start the Fire" were the lead singles of this album. The lyrics of the songs included in the album Metamorfoz were praised by the Turkish Language Association. In 2010, his seventh studio album, Adımı Kalbine Yaz, became the best-selling album of the year in Turkey. In 2016, his ninth album, Ahde Vefa, which has a Classical Turkish theme, was released.

Hüseyin Yalın (born 30 March 1980), better known by his surname Yalın, is a Turkish pop singer and songwriter. He achieved success with the song "Zalim" in 2004.

Hüseyin Yalın was born on 30 March 1980 in Nişantaşı, Istanbul, as the son of Figen and Kamil Yalın. He went to primary school at Ataköy, Bakırköy. Journalist Ferai Tınç is his uncle.

Yalın soon started to write songs and eventually collaborated with Kargo's guitarist Selim Öztürk to produce an album. Selim Öztürk produced the album, while Kargo's other members Serkan Çeliköz and Burak Karataş served as keyboarder and drummer respectively. Yalın wrote all of the songs for his first album and Ellerine Sağlık was eventually released in March 2004 under the label Universal Music. The album's lead single "Zalim" became a hit in Turkey, and the album sold 200,000 copies in one week. Ebru Çapa of Hürriyet praised the song's composition and lyrics in her review for the newspaper. By the end of the month, it sold 300,000 copies. The number rose to 500,000 within four months of its release. As a result, it ranked number 4 on Universal Music's list of best-selling albums after Guns N' Roses. MÜ-YAP also recognized it as one of the "Best-selling albums of the year". The album was favorably received on digital platforms and broke a record at the time with 1 million and 700 thousands downloads. As a result, Yalın earned 2 million dollars with the success of his album on digital platforms. After releasing a music video for "Zalim", he subsequently recorded and released separate music videos for "Sonsuz Ol" and "Günaydın", the third of which ranked MTV World Chart Express program, and entered the musical charts of Bulgaria and Greek. At the Turkey Music Awards, Yalın was chosen as the "Best Male Newcomer" and his song "Zalim", was covered by the Albanian singer Rovena Stefa and Bulgarian singer Toni Storaro under the titles "Zemer" and "Greshnica" respectively. The song was translated to numerous languages including Greek, Russian, Serbian and Arabic. The song "Değmez" from his album, was rearranged by one of Universal Music's producers Martin Kierszenbaum to be used on Japanese singer Ai's album What's Goin' On Ai. In 2006, Yalın collaborated with Ai and American reggae artist Shaggy on Ai's album What's Goin' On Ai with the track "Famous feat. Shaggy and Yalın".
