Sonic & Knuckles is a 1994 platform game developed and published by Sega. It is part of the Sonic the Hedgehog series and the sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (1994). Players control Sonic the Hedgehog and Knuckles the Echidna in their quests to save Angel Island; Sonic tries to prevent Doctor Robotnik from relaunching his orbital weapon, the Death Egg, while Knuckles scuffles with Robotnik's minion, EggRobo. The game takes place across six levels in which the player collects rings and fights bosses.

Sega Technical Institute developed Sonic & Knuckles simultaneously alongside Sonic 3. The two were intended to be released as a single game, but time constraints and small cartridge sizes forced Sega to split the project. The Sonic & Knuckles cartridge features "lock-on technology" that allows the game to connect to the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 or Sonic the Hedgehog 3 cartridges, combining elements from both games. This feature was implemented so the game could be experienced as intended.

Tails' Skypatrol is a 1995 horizontal-scrolling shooter video game published in Japan by Sega for the Game Gear. It is a spin-off of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and one of two Game Gear games to star Sonic's sidekick Tails. The player controls the titular character in his quest to stop the evil witch Witchcart before she conquerors an island and turns its inhabitants into crystals. Gameplay involves shooting enemies, collecting power-ups, and defeating bosses.

Skypatrol was developed by Japan System House with assistance from SIMS, a part-owned subsidiary of Sega at the time. It was in development as an educational game for a cancelled handheld system, before being moved to the Game Gear due to its similar hardware architecture. It did not feature the Sonic branding until it was presented to Sega, which requested the main character be replaced with Tails. Skypatrol received largely negative reviews, with critics focusing specifically on its high difficulty and poor controls. It has been re-released through Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut (2004) and Sonic Gems Collection (2005).

Sonic Runners was a 2015 side-scrolling endless running video game in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise for Android and iOS. It was developed by Sonic Team as its first Sonic game exclusive to smartphones and published by Sega. In Sonic Runners, the player-character constantly ran forward, and players controlled their jumping using the touchscreen. The game featured a wide variety of playable characters from the Sonic series, and was free-to-play and received periodic updates.

Development began in late 2013 and lasted a year and a half. Sonic Team sought to take advantage of the uses of smartphones and built the game using the Unity game engine. They designed Sonic Runners to have more replay value than other endless running games. The game was soft launched in select regions on February 25, 2015, and officially released worldwide on June 25. It failed commercially and received mixed reviews; although critics praised its gameplay, they criticized the number of pop-up ads and pay-to-play elements, as well as technical problems. Sega discontinued the game in July 2016. A sequel, Sonic Runners Adventure, was released by Gameloft in 2017.

Sonic Runners Adventure is an endless runner platform game published by Gameloft for Android and Java-based mobile phones. As part of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, the game serves as a sequel to 2015's Sonic Runners. The game was first released in select regions on June 10, 2017, and was released to the rest of the world on August 9, 2017.

Similar to its predecessor Sonic Runners, Sonic Runners Adventure is a platform game with endless runner elements. Players choose between several different characters, each with unique abilities. Players must guide their chosen character through a series of levels based on locations in Sonic Generations and Sonic Lost World. Characters automatically move forward, so players must tap their screen to avoid obstacles and enemies. Scattered around levels are golden rings, which serve as a form of health: rings protect the player from enemies or obstacles, though they scatter when the player is hit and blink before disappearing. Several changes from the original game have been made as well; the game can be played offline, and there are three types of levels in the game: "Finite", "Looped", and "Infinite".

Sonic Labyrinth is an action and puzzle game developed by Minato Giken and published by Sega for the Game Gear in 1995. The game features Sonic the Hedgehog exploring maze-like stages from an isometric perspective. Dr. Robotnik has robbed Sonic of his trademark speed, so Sonic walks slowly but can roll into a ball and dash across the stages. Critics thought the game was a unique addition to the Sonic library but flawed by convoluted controls and repetitive gameplay. It has received generally negative reviews in retrospect and is considered one of the worst Sonic games ever. Sonic Labyrinth was rereleased on Sonic Adventure DX and on Sonic Mega Collection Plus, as well as the Nintendo 3DS in 2012.

Sonic Drift 2, released in Europe as Sonic Drift Racing, is a kart racing game by Sega for the Game Gear. The sequel to Sonic Drift, it was released in Japan and Europe in March 1995 and in North America in November 1995. It added three characters: Knuckles, Fang the Sniper, and Metal Sonic, and marked the first time the last two were playable characters.

The gameplay is similar to Sonic Drift, but with minor changes. In the Chaos GP mode, players are awarded with Chaos Emeralds should they come in 1st within a GP. Alongside Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Dr. Eggman, there are three additional playable characters: Metal Sonic, Fang, and Knuckles.

Metal Sonic drives the Blue Devil, a convertible sports car with high speed and bad handling. His special ability is the High-Speed Dash, but unlike Sonic's High-Speed Dash, it requires 3 rings to use and is much more powerful. Fang drives the Marvelous Queen, a modified airbike with good speed and acceleration, but has poor handling. He also tosses Oil Balls that make opponents spin out after a while. Knuckles drives the Tempest, a car based on the Hummer H1 that has balanced stats. Unlike most characters, Knuckles has two abilities in the game. He can punch nearby racers to make them spin out and drop a ring, but if there are none nearby, he will jump.

Sonic Drift is a 1994 racing video game developed and published by Sega for the Game Gear in Japan. It features Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, Amy Rose, and Doctor Robotnik.

In 1995, a sequel named Sonic Drift 2 was released.

In Sonic Drift, players race around a series of tracks in either single races or a Grand Prix consisting of six courses, collecting rings and using power-ups to obtain First Place. Each playable character has different positive and negative attributes, and can utilize a Special Ability at the cost of 2 rings.

Sonic, who drives a red and white sports car known as the Cyclone, has great speed and handling but poor control, and has a speed boost as his Special Ability. Tails, who drives a 1960s-era Formula 1 car called the MTP-01 Wheelwind, is well-balanced in terms of his speed, acceleration and handling, but does not stand out in any particular area- he can utilize a powerful jump as his Special Ability, which allows him to avoid obstacles and particularly tough corners. Eggman (as he is referred to in this game), who pilots a modified version of his standard Eggmobile known as the Egg Typhoon, has poor acceleration, but has very high top speed and cornering abilities, and can toss Bombs onto the track that can cause his rivals to spin out. Finally, Amy Rose, who drives a yellow and blue vintage convertible called the Breeze, has great acceleration at the cost of low top speed, and has the ability to attack by throwing small heart-shaped objects that slow down her opponents and alter their controls for a short time.
