A third year university student in Kyoto, Japan feels like he's wasted his first two years of University on his current student club, having not yet found a girlfriend and having made only two friends: Ozu, who he deems to not have a single redeeming quality as a human being and Ms. Akashi, a stoic first-year engineering student. One night, the protagonist encounters a deity of matrimony during dinner. He tells him that Ms. Akashi will end up paired with either him or Ozu and it's up to him to take the opportunity that is dangling in front of him or not.

Kaoru, an aloof honour student, has always moved from town to town due to his father's work, this means he never really settled anywhere either. Moving to Kyushu he expected it to be the same as always, yet this time something was different. He first grew close to the class president, but even more interesting was his shared connection with her and the class 'bad boy' over music, more specifically Jazz. However, as Homura's omen suggests, there might be far more to becoming a magical girl than Madoka and Sayaka realize.

Now, she finds herself forced to fight repeated challengers for Anthy, face similar rivalries in her personal life and tries to help Anthy gain some will of her own. All the while, the duels she must fight are leading her to a goal of world revolution that has implications she is not yet aware of.
