A screenwriter working on a script for a romantic movie is having a hard time because he is a little jaded when it comes to love since his mother abandoned him when he was a boy. So he spends his time ruining every relationship he has. But he really needs to make the script, so he turns to his friends for their experiences. But it's not enough. He then meets a girl who captures his heart. Problem is that she's already engaged. But she allows him to be her friend.

The film starts with Mindy and Fred ending up in bed together. In the morning Fred is worried that they had unprotected sex during the night and convinces Mindy to get a "morning after pill". However it turns out that it must be followed by a second pill 12 hours later. To make sure that the care free Mindy takes the second pill Fred decides to spend the day with her. It turns out to be an eventful day. Fred learns to know Mindy better while he tries to sort out some other personal challenges.

After an extremely regrettable one night stand, two strangers wake up to find themselves snowed in after sleeping through a blizzard that put all of Manhattan on ice. They're now trapped together in a tiny apartment, forced to get to know each other way more than any one night stand should.

Reed Fish runs the Fish show on Mud Meadows' local radio where he reads the local news and commercials and takes listeners' calls. He took over from his dad when his parents were killed in a car accident. He meets his old high school friend/crush, Jill, who's home for the summer after years in college in Austin, Texas. They hang out - not so good, as he's getting married to Kate in 3 weeks (or is he?). Kate sells cars at her dad's dealership. Reed gets Jill on the Fish radio show to talk about herself.

"Muffin Top: A Love Story" is the story of Suzanne (Cathryn Michon) a Women's Studies Pop Culture professor at Malibu University, who studies images of women in the media for a living, and yet is made insecure by the constant parade of female perfection that is our airbrushed culture. She has been going through IVF treatments to get pregnant by her network executive husband (Diedrich Bader), but discovers on her birthday, that her husband has knocked up his younger, skinnier, co-worker (Haylie Duff) and wants a divorce. Happy Birthday! She goes on to find a more authentic version of who she really is, despite the delights of being suddenly single in Los Angeles, where low self-esteem for women is their number one export to the world.

On a flight home to Chicago for a family wedding, childhood friends Josh and Molly innocently agree to fake a wedding engagement to make Josh's dying father happy. Rosie (Michelle Pfeiffer), a 40-year-old divorced mother produces the has-been television comedy "You Go Girl," which seems doomed since her boss no longer allows the show to tackle any vaguely-controversial subjects. Then she meets Adam (Paul Rudd) , an attractive, spontaneously funny, single, 29-year-old actor at an audition. She successfully casts him, which revives the show's ratings. She also dates him, but her pathological insecurity, focused on their age difference, compromises the relationship. That culminates when she suspects him of infidelity with the show's star, and the studio gives those two their own sitcom.
