Yi Yao is a withdrawn high school girl living with an abusive mother, who runs a sensual massage parlor and is ashamed of her daughter. Qi Ming is Yi's childhood friend, who was brought up in poverty and the role model at school. Yi is bullied mercilessly at school by Tang Xiaomi and her friends. Her only friends are Gu Sunxi and his twin sister Sunxiang. Everyone's personal lives conflict and things only go from bad to worse.

However, society is homophobic and the threat of violence and social shaming enacted by adults and their fellow teens causes the two to come into conflict as they edge closer to physically enacting on their passions for each other. Birdy pushes A-han away by pretending to fall in love with a girl and this misunderstanding separates them. In desperation, A-han confessed to Father Oliver about his sexuality, only to be cut off again but love knows no bounds and the boys are meant to be together - Inspired by real events, the film is emblematic of the changes in Taiwan which became the first country in Asia to legalise gay marriage.

Yoon Ji-woo's father dies suddenly. She wants to desperately take revenge on whoever is responsible for her father's death. Yoon Ji-woo works for drug crime group Dongcheonpa. Choi Moo-jin is the boss of the drug gang. With the help of Choi Moo-jin and to uncover the reason for her father's death, Yoon Ji-woo joins the police department and becomes a mole for the drug group. Yoon Ji-woo is assigned to work in the drug investigation unit in the police department. Her partner there is Detective Jeon Pil-do.

Three teenage boys Yong-ju, Gi-Woong and Gi-Taek, were once best friends in middle school, but they become estranged from each other once they enter high school. While Yong-ju and Gi-Taek still remain close, Gi-Woong becomes a jjang (Korean slang term meaning "best"), one of the strongest fighters in the school, and begins to hang out with Seong-jin's gang (Seong-jin's parents are powerful figures, making him a bigwig among his schoolmates). Yong-ju becomes concerned when he finds out that Seong-jin's gang is mercilessly bullying Gi-Taek, an eccentric manhwa fan. Under intense pressure to get into a prestigious university because of his financially struggling single mother, Yong-ju develops an unlikely relationship with Gi-Woong, who tries to break away from Seong-jin. But when Gi-Taek learns that Yong-ju is gay, he betrays his friend and joins Seong-jin's gang in ostracizing him, telling them that Yong-ju has loved Gi-Woong for years.
