This book encourages me to stay in bed. We see that early morning time it’s still dark and the paperboy gets up out of bed and starts work. It looks brutal. He gets home when the sun is coming up and goes back to bed for some ‘z’s. Dav does a wonderful job at showing what it’s like in the early morning playing with light and shadow and that feeling of the cold and wanting to be in bed. Where I grew up, they had a delivery van that brought the papers to each house. There was no paper boy or girl. I don’t think they have one in Baltimore either. I think this is mostly a bygone era job. Still, it’s nice to see their experience. I also like that the boy’s dog went with him everywhere. It’s good he had a companion in this early morning endeavor. It’s a real job they had. I guess the plus side of it is that you get to see the sun come up each day.The nephew is up early every morning, so I could see him doing this rather easily when he gets older, if that job existed. He was shocked that the boy got to go do this all on his own. They let him go alone? He wouldn’t want to do something alone like this. He gave this 2 stars. The niece thought this was interesting. She thought it looked lonely also. She gave this 3 stars.

I had to read this book for school and it is about Ruby Bridges as a child written by Ruby Bridges. Now surprisingly I somewhat enjoyed this book! I thought that Ruby was such a cool little girl and that she is pretty awesome! Some things I didn't like is the swearing(bad words) and I now this is such an immature thing considering I have read books the swear but I just thought that considering I am reading this book for school there shouldn't be curse words!!! IT SAID THE " N" word!!! Also(and I know this is mean) I only gave the book 4 stars because I don't like non fiction book! :(!! I just personally prefer fiction books!!

Elephant and Piggie enter yet another wonderful story with much to say and laughs aplenty for the young reader. When Piggie advises her best friend that he has a bird on his head, Gerald is anything but impressed. What begins as a single bird is soon a pair and before he knows it, Gerald has a full-blown nest atop his head. He tries everything he can think of to rid himself of the birds, to no avail. Finally, Piggie has an idea and Gerald is free, if only for a time. New enjoyed this one and told me that he would love to read it again soon. Our tag-team work on this piece brought the story to life.

This book followed the very popular Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. that was a story about the alphabet going up to the top of a coconut tree. Chicka Chicka 1, 2, 3, is obviously similar, but with numbers. This is a fun book to read with fun rhymes and a great rhythm. It puts a fun, personal, and creative spin on young students learning their numbers, but I still kept comparing it to the original. This book, instead of a coconut tree, the numbers climb up an apple tree and it’s just not the same. I love the brightly colored illustrations and the simple words, it is perfect for lower elementary. What surprised me was that they started counting by tens, which seems to be slightly too complicated for the age range I thought they were intending to reach. This aside, it is a good book to have in your classroom for students to access.

Once upon a time, there were three hungry Dinosaurs: Papa Dinosaur, Mama Dinosaur . . . and a Dinosaur who happened to be visiting from Norway.One day--for no particular reason--they decided to tidy up their house, make the beds, and prepare pudding of varying temperatures. And then--for no particular reason--they decided to go...someplace else. They were definitely NOT setting a trap for some succulent, unsupervised little girl.Definitely not!This new take on a fairy-tale classic is so funny and so original--it could only come from the brilliant mind of Mo Willems.

Piggie is determined that she will fly, telling Gerald as much. Being a level-headed elephant (are there other kinds?), Gerald reminds Piggie that it is not possible and that she had best come to that realisation. Still, Piggie does all she can to fly and engages the assistance of her friends. Alas, still no flight, but her determination leaves Gerald to wonder if he, too, might be able to fly. By the end, Gerald is ready to give it a try, leaving Piggie to play the level-headed one. Neo read this one to me and did so well. It would appear that he has read it before in school, as he sped through this one, laughing as he tried to ‘appear’ to be able to predict what would come next. Seeing him happy while reading is the best Father’s Day present I could obtain, so we’ll let this one pass ;-)

Alex just has to convince his mom to let him have an iguana, so he puts his arguments in writing. He promises that she won't have to feed it or clean its cage or even see it if she doesn't want to. Of course Mom imagines life with a six-foot-long iguana eating them out of house and home. Alex's reassurances: It takes fifteen years for an iguana to get that big. I'll be married by then and probably living in my own house. and his mom's replies: How are you going to get a girl to marry you when you own a giant reptile? will have kids in hysterics as the negotiations go back and forth through notes.
