Darkwave

"La donna è mobile" (pronounced [la ˈdɔnna ˌɛ mˈmɔːbile]; "Woman is fickle") is the Duke of Mantua's canzone from the beginning of act 3 of Giuseppe Verdi's opera Rigoletto (1851). The canzone is famous as a showcase for tenors. Raffaele Mirate's performance of the bravura aria at the opera's 1851 premiere was hailed as the highlight of the evening. Before the opera's first public performance (in Venice), the aria was rehearsed under tight secrecy: a necessary precaution, as "La donna è mobile" proved to be incredibly catchy, and soon after the aria's first public performance it became popular to sing among Venetian gondoliers.

As the opera progresses, the reprise of the tune in the following scenes contributes to Rigoletto's confusion as he realizes from the sound of the Duke's lively voice coming from the tavern (offstage) that the body in the sack over which he had grimly triumphed was not that of the Duke after all: Rigoletto had paid Sparafucile, an assassin, to kill the Duke, but Sparafucile had deceived Rigoletto by indiscriminately killing Gilda, Rigoletto's beloved daughter, instead.

Kalabalik på Tyrolen är en musikfestival som hålls i folkparken Tyrolen i Blädinge socken utanför Alvesta sedan år 2011. Festivalen fokuserar på mindre artister och band som gör elektronisk musik och postpunk. Med åren har festivalen blivit allt mer välbesökt och därmed inflytelserik inom sin genre i Sverige.

Festivalen arrangeras av Klubb Kalabalik sedan år 2011. Med ambition att förnya och diversifiera skapar man en småskalig festival. Förankrade i genrer som synth, postpunk och industri presenterar man ett samtida och unikt program med akter från världens alla hörn. Festivalen arrangeras via samarbete mellan Klubb Kalabalik och Tyrolens vänner.

2011 var festivalens premiärår. Några av artisterna som uppträdde detta år var EkoBrottsMyndigheten, Jemek Jemowit och The Pain Machinery

Nocturne painting is a term coined by James Abbott McNeill Whistler to describe a painting style that depicts scenes evocative of the night or subjects as they appear in a veil of light, in twilight, or in the absence of direct light. In a broader usage, the term has come to refer to any painting of a night scene, or night-piece, such as Rembrandt's The Night Watch.

Whistler used the term within the title of his works to represent paintings with a "dreamy, pensive mood" by applying a musical name. He also titled (and retitled) works using other terms associated with music, such as a "symphony", "harmony", "study" or "arrangement", to emphasize the tonal qualities and the composition and to de-emphasize the narrative content. The use of the term "nocturne" can be associated with the Tonalism movement of the American of the late 19th century and early 20th century which is "characterized by soft, diffused light, muted tones and hazy outlined objects, all of which imbue the works with a strong sense of mood." Along with winter scenes, nocturnes were a common Tonalist theme. Frederic Remington used the term as well for his nocturne scenes of the American Old West.

Porl King, born 19 October 1967 on the Wirral Peninsula in England, first achieved public acclaim and success as the singer, songwriter and guitarist for the goth band Rosetta Stone from its inception in the late 1980s until its demise in 1998. Since disbanding Rosetta Stone in 1998, King has pursued a career in digital audio and Pro Tools production.

King has also worked with the French progressive act Mellow, for whom he has done remixes and the musical score created for the Roman Coppola art-house movie CQ. He has also played with Liverpool band Mulu.

King began writing and recording his own material again late in 2005 under the guise of miserylab. On 17 July 2007, miserylab released The Vaporware EP, consisting of four tracks, through MySpace. Describing King's remix style, Xfm Radio said in a review of the song "Coming Second" by Elbow, "misery:lab's Porl King – delivers something that sounds not unlike Depeche Mode at their heaviest", and made it their single of the week.

Blayney is a hamlet in Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada that is in between Pine Grove and Green's Corners.

Blayney's earliest known inhabitants, from around the year 1000 until approximately 300–350 years later, were the Algonquin nation. They were noted flint-workers and evidence of their skill in crafting arrowheads is still to be found in open worked field areas surrounding the village. The next wave of inhabitants were the Attawandaron nation, the Neutrals, who occupied the region from about 1350 until their absorption by the Iroquois in the year 1651. The last significant native nation to occupy the area was the Mississaugas.

In 2001, Haldimand-Norfolk was dissolved into two separate single-tier counties. Blayney became part of the newly formed County of Norfolk.

Hélène de Thoury ist eine französische Musikerin aus dem Bereich Cold Wave. Sie tritt unter ihrem Künstlernamen „Hante.“ auf und lebt in Paris. Bekannt wurde sie durch ihre Beteiligung an dem Dark-Wave-Projekt Phosphor. Seither brachte sie sich in verschiedene Musikprojekte ein. Zusammen mit Amandine Stioui bildete sie das Duo Minuit Machine und 2014 begann sie als „Hante.“ ein Soloprojekt. Sie singt sowohl in englischer als auch in französischer Sprache. Mit unterschiedlichen Projekten trat sie in Leipzig während des Wave-Gotik-Treffens auf.

Sixth June are an audio/visual project from Berlin with origins in Belgrade, formed in 2007 by visual artist Laslo Antal and actress Lidija Andonov. All their releises have seen the pair explore multiple sides to their dark cinematic post new wave sound.

The Mind Beyond is a BBC2 supernatural anthology television series – part of BBC 2's Playhouse series – which ran from September to November 1976. It was produced by Irene Shubik and consists of 6 episodes. A book of the same name was also published to accompany the series.

Kini Killing Me Inside berada di bawah naungan Anoixi Records, yang kembali mengambil jalur indie.

Ash Code is an Italian dark wave band formed in 2014 in Napoli by the singer Alessandro Belluccio, the keyboardist Claudia Nottebella and the bass player Adriano Belluccio. Ash Code music covers a wide range of genres including dark wave, post-punk, synth-pop and EBM.

Linea Aspera is a dark wave/minimal wave band formed in London, England in 2011. A musical duo, they are fronted by vocalist Zoè Zanias (born Alison Lewis), with Ryan Ambridge on synthesizers. Zanias writes the lyrics while Ambridge writes the electronics, as well as mixing and producing the recordings.

The band name is derived from the anatomical term linea aspera, which refers to the muscle attachment on the back of the human femur. The band felt the English translation of "rough line" fit their style and the biological themes in their songs.

Founded in November 2011, Linea Aspera are influenced by electronic bands from the 1980s. A reviewer reporting on a gig in January 2012 noted that their music sounded "very '80s", and that they had "sprung fully-formed" from the musical underground of East London. That month self-releasing an extended play cassette, titled Linea Aspera EP, it was described by the Burning Flame website as number one in their Top 20 EPs of 2012.

She Past Away is a Turkish post-punk band, formed in 2006. The band was formed in Bursa by Volkan Caner and İdris Akbulut. The band is known for their dark wave musical style with post-punk roots and the gothic image of the band members.

Sleeping with Sirens is an American rock band from Orlando, Florida, currently residing in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The band currently consists of Kellin Quinn, touring lead guitarist Tony Pizzuti, Nick Martin, Justin Hills and Matty Best. The band was formed in 2009 by members of For All We Know and Paddock Park. The group is currently signed to Sumerian Records and have released six full-length albums and an acoustic EP.

Die Selektion ist eine deutsche Cold-Wave-Band aus Stuttgart, deren besonderes Stilmerkmal der genreuntypische Einsatz einer Trompete ist.

Die Band Die Selektion entstand Ende 2010 aus dem experimentellen Post-Punk-Projekt L U C ▲. Durch Wechsel in der Besetzung hatte sich die musikalische Ausrichtung so verändert, dass man sich entschloss, anstelle einer Fortführung des bisherigen Projekts eine neue Band zu gründen. Neben Gillian, dessen musikalische Wurzeln im Wave und Neofolk liegen, bestand die Band aus dem klassisch ausgebildeten Trompeter Hannes Rief, der auch in einem Orchester spielte, und Max Rieger, der eher vom Techno beeinflusst wurde. Aus diesen unterschiedlichen Ausrichtungen und den Einflüssen von EBM und Synthiepop der 1980er Jahre entstand ein tanzbarer, melancholischer Stil, der sich durch den Einsatz der Trompete von anderen Bands abhebt. Die Band entschied sich bewusst für deutschsprachige Texte, auch weil die deutsche Sprache ihrer Ansicht nach besonders gut zu ihrer Musik passt. Mit Experimenten in italienischer Sprache war die Band nicht zufrieden. Trotz der deutschen Texte hat die Band international Erfolg.
