Sopor Aeternus & the Ensemble of Shadows (Latin: sopor aeternus "eternal slumber"; often referred to or stylized as Sopor Aeternus or Sopor) is a darkwave musical project based in Frankfurt, founded in 1989 by Anna-Varney Cantodea. Anna-Varney's work is extremely personalized, melancholic and pessimistic, drawing on a number of different musical and visual styles, and has garnered a cult following.

Cantodea was born in Germany, on 8 February of an unknown year. Cantodea's pseudonym is derived from several sources. Firstly, the common name Anna, and secondly the Latin word cantodea, a composed neologism meaning "I sing, goddess". (Sometimes stated to be Latin for "female singer", for which the proper term is cantrix.) She had been using the stage name "Varney" prior to 1997, that name taken from the Victorian Gothic horror story Varney, the Vampire; or the Feast of Blood.

Dvar is an anonymous virtual band from Russia that plays darkwave and electronic music. The first Dvar album was released in 1995, and the most recent in 2022.

Diary of Dreams is a German darkwave band. The lead singer and founding member Adrian Hates has produced most of the albums by himself or with minimal help from others. He rarely uses a full band, except when on tour.

Deine Lakaien is a German band project active since 1985. It is formed by the vocalist Alexander Veljanov and by the composer and multi-instrumentalist Ernst Horn. The group unites influences from dark wave with pop music and elements of avant-garde.

Autumn Tears is an international dark wave band formed in September 1995 by Erika Swinnich and Ted Tringo. Their music has goth and industrial characteristics. Weltenbrand is a darkwave band from Liechtenstein formed in 1995 by Oliver Falk. Ritchie Wenaweser and Simone Steiner joined for vocals. In the same year, the band secured a record deal with Witchhunt Records and subsequently released their first album, Das Rabenland. a romantically inclined darkwave album that immediately found acceptance within the genre.

A year later, WeltenBrand signed to Falks' own M.O.S. Records Ltd. to record their second album, Das Nachtvolk, released in 1997. This featured the violinist Daniela Nipp for the first time and remained true to the band's sound, while improving upon both the musical and vocal arrangements. Additionally, Richard Lederer of Summoning done guest vocals for this album.

Gothica is the thirteenth studio album by the melodic hard rock band Ten. The album was released on 7 July 2017. The album was mixed and mastered by Dennis Ward, while the cover was illustrated by Stan W. Decker. The first single from the album, the track "Paragon", was released on 26 May, while the second one "La Luna Dra-Cu-La", was released on 23 June. The first official music video for "Gothica", was for the track "Travellers", on the 3rd of July 2017, while "Jekyll And Hyde", the second official music video from the album, was released on the 1st of August, 2017. The album proved to be another successful release for the band, reaching the 11th position on BBC's Rock Albums Charts.
