WNYC Studios is a producer and distributor of podcasts and on-demand and broadcast audio. WNYC Studios is a subsidiary of New York Public Radio and is headquartered in New York City.

In May 2015, WNYC began distributing its shows Radiolab and On The Media. WNYC Studios was founded on 13 October 2015 with an inventory of 17 podcasts and national radio shows.

The venture is funded with a diversified model consisting of philanthropy, crowdfunding and sponsorship.

The first podcast launched by WNYC Studios was The New Yorker Radio Hour, a co-production with The New Yorker magazine. Hosted by The New Yorker editor David Remnick, the national radio show and podcast debuted on 24 October 2015.

Radiotopia, founded by Roman Mars, was launched in February 2014 with an initial group of seven shows: Jonathan Mitchell's The Truth, Lea Thau's Strangers, Benjamin Walker's Theory of Everything, Nick van der Kolk's Love and Radio, the Kitchen Sisters' Fugitive Waves (later renamed The Kitchen Sisters Present...), Radio Diaries and Roman Mars' own flagship show 99% Invisible. The makers of these shows had decided to band together as independent producers who didn't all have the support of traditional radio broadcasting, targeting instead a growing audience of podcast listeners seeking recommendations for new things to listen to.

The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter is a 1968 American film adaptation of the 1940 novel of the same name by Carson McCullers. It was directed by Robert Ellis Miller. It stars Alan Arkin and introduces Sondra Locke, who both earned Academy Award nominations for their performances. The film updates the novel's small-town Southern setting from the Depression era to the contemporary 1960s. The film is recognized by the American Film Institute in AFI's 100 Years of Film Scores – Nominated.

Criminal is a podcast that focuses on true crime. It is recorded in the studios of WUNC in Chapel Hill, NC, and is part of the Vox Media Podcast Network. The show describes itself as telling "stories of people who've done wrong, been wronged, or gotten caught somewhere in the middle."

RISK! is a weekly podcast and live storytelling show created and hosted by writer, actor, and storyteller Kevin Allison. The show's official website describes RISK! as a place "where people tell true stories they never thought they'd dare to share in public". RISK! started as a weekly live storytelling series in August 2009. Chris Castiglione and Jeff Barr joined in 2010 as part of the founding team. JC Cassis joined the production team in 2011.

Surprisingly Awesome was an American podcast formerly hosted by Adam Davidson and Adam McKay and subsequently hosted by Rachel Ward and frequently guest hosted by John Hodgman. In each episode, one of the hosts would take a seemingly boring topic, and try to make the other believe that it is interesting. These topics have varied from mold to interest rates. The podcast was hosted by Gimlet Media.

Mystery Show is a Gimlet Media podcast hosted by Starlee Kine that ran for one season in 2015. In each episode, Kine solves a minor mystery which cannot be solved with search engines alone. It was declared the best new podcast of 2015 by iTunes.

The Memory Palace is a monthly historical podcast hosted by Nate DiMeo that debuted in 2008. The program features historical narratives concerning such subjects as the Cardiff Giant and the CIA project Acoustic Kitty. It is currently distributed online by Radiotopia.

The Moth is a non-profit group based in New York City dedicated to the art and craft of storytelling. Founded in 1997, the organization presents a wide range of theme-based storytelling events across the United States and abroad, often featuring prominent literary and cultural personalities alongside everyday people like veterans, astronauts, school teachers, and parents. The Moth offers a weekly podcast and in 2009 launched a national public radio show, The Moth Radio Hour, which won a 2010 Peabody Award. The Moth has published four books including The Moth: 50 True Stories (2013) reached #22 on The New York Times Paperback Nonfiction Best-Seller List; All These Wonders: True Stories about Facing the Unknown (2017); and Occasional Magic: True Stories About Defying the Impossible (2019) and How to Tell a Story: The Essential Guide to Memorable Storytelling from The Moth (2022). In September of 2022, The Moth published an interactive card deck called, A Game of Storytelling, which debut at #1 on Amazon's top selling card game list.

Ear Hustle is a non-fiction podcast about prison life and life after incarceration created by Earlonne Woods and Antwan Williams, both formerly incarcerated, and Nigel Poor, an artist who volunteers at San Quentin State Prison. In 2016, it was selected by the Radiotopia network as the winner of its Podquest competition, and the following year released its first season. It was the first podcast to be entirely created and produced inside a prison.

Scott Carrier is an American author, Peabody award-winning radio producer, and educator. He lives in Salt Lake City, Utah. His second book, Prisoner of Zion, was published in April 2013. He is a former assistant professor in the Department of Communication at Utah Valley University.

Carrier's pieces have been featured on radio programs, including This American Life since 1996, The Savvy Traveler, Marketplace, Day to Day, All Things Considered, and NPR's Hearing Voices. In 2015, Carrier began producing a podcast entitled "Home of the Brave". The podcast combines original stories with work that previously aired on NPR and other radio shows.

In 2006 Carrier won a Peabody Award for a story titled "Crossing Borders" which was aired on Hearing Voices on NPR.

Love and Radio (stylized Love + Radio) is an American audio podcast directed by Nick van der Kolk and produced by Phil Dmochowski and Steven Jackson. Love and Radio originally began in 2005 as a series of self-distributed episodes, and the show later received support and distribution from NPR and Chicago Public Media. In 2014 Love and Radio joined the podcast network Radiotopia as one of its seven original shows and began producing episodes on a more regular monthly schedule. In May 2019 Love and Radio left Radiotopia to join the newly launched subscription-supported podcasting service Luminary, starting with their 8th season in May 2019.

Episodes of Love and Radio consist of stories, often presented in personal interviews, either focusing on a single story or sometimes related to a theme. A few segments include fiction, but most are non-fiction. The show's subjects have been described as "people on the cultural edge" and "intriguing characters who aren't quite who you think they are when you first meet them". The show also uses audio production techniques to give the interviews a musical and inventive quality.

Note to Self was a podcast hosted by Manoush Zomorodi that focuses on the impacts that technology has on everyday life. Before she began hosting Note to Self, Zomorodi was a television reporter for the British Broadcasting Corporation. Note to Self debuted in September 2012 under the name New Tech City. It was renamed to Note To Self in 2015, and ran until 2019.
