Warpaint is an American indie rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2004. The band consists of Emily Kokal, Theresa Wayman, Jenny Lee Lindberg, and Stella Mozgawa (drums).

Claire Elise Boucher, known professionally as Grimes, is a Canadian musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Her early work has been described as extending from "lo-fi R&B" to futuristic dance-pop, and has incorporated influences from electronic music, hip hop, and rock. Her lyrics often touch on science fiction and feminist themes. She has released five studio albums.

XL Recordings is a British independent record label founded in 1989 by Tim Palmer and Nick Halkes. It has been run and co-owned by Richard Russell since 1996. It forms part of the Beggars Group.

Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, often referred to as simply Viva la Vida, is the fourth studio album by British rock band Coldplay, released on 12 June 2008 on the Parlophone label. "Viva la vida" is a Spanish phrase that translates into English as "long live life", "live the life", or simply "live life". Lyrically, the album contains references to love, life, death and war.

Bedroom Walls was an American pop rock band active from 2001–2007 in Los Angeles, CA. It was formed in 2001 by Adam Samuel Goldman on guitar/vocals, with keyboardist/vocalist Melissa Thorne and drummer Julian Gross. The band released two full-length albums of self-described "Romanticore" music, a genre founded on "staring at the ceiling; sedatives; stale cake for breakfast; sighing too loudly; knowing your ex-girlfriend is happier now." “Some people don’t see any humor in it, but it’s supposed to be a little funny,” Goldman explained in a 2004 interview. "Sad music fails when there isn’t a little bit of absurdity to it or black comedy to it."

Beach House is an American musical duo formed in Baltimore, Maryland in 2004. The band consists of vocalist and keyboardist Victoria Legrand and guitarist, keyboardist, and backup vocalist Alex Scally.

Their self-titled debut album was released in 2006 to critical acclaim and has been followed by Devotion (2008), Teen Dream (2010), Bloom (2012), Depression Cherry (2015), Thank Your Lucky Stars (2015), B-sides and Rarities (2017), 7 (2018), and Once Twice Melody (2022).

Vocalist and organist Victoria Legrand, who graduated from Vassar College in 2003, and guitarist Alex Scally, who graduated from Oberlin College in 2004, formed the band in 2004 after meeting in Baltimore's indie rock scene, producing music composed largely of organ, programmed drums, and steel guitar. Of the origins of the band name Scally said: "We’d been writing music, and we had all these songs, and then there was that moment where you say ‘what do we call ourselves?’ We tried to intellectualize it, and it didn’t work. There were different plant-names, Wisteria, that kind of thing. Stupid stuff. But, once we stopped trying, it just came out, it just happened. And it just seemed perfect." In an interview with Pitchfork, Legrand addressed their being a two-member status thus: "[I]t's a way to challenge ourselves: What do you do when it's just the two of you? ... [O]ne of the reasons this has been such a fulfilling experience for me is that with two people, it's so much easier to achieve things that feel exciting and new."

Sleep Party People is the alias of musician Brian Batz, hailing from Denmark.

Holy Motors is a 2012 fantasy drama film written and directed by Leos Carax, starring Denis Lavant and Édith Scob. Lavant plays Mr Oscar, a man who appears to have a job as an actor, who inhabits several different roles a day, but there are no cameras filming the man's performances or audiences watching. It is Carax's first feature film since 1999. The film competed for the Palme d'Or at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.

After waking up one morning, a man called "The Sleeper" locates and opens a secret door in his apartment. He enters, wandering into a packed movie house, while a young child and a giant dog wander up and down the aisles.

Meanwhile, in Paris, a man called Oscar rides to work in a white limousine, driven by his close friend and associate Céline. Oscar's job involves using makeup, elaborate costumes and props to carry out a number of complex and unusual acting "appointments", sometimes for the service of others, and at other times for seemingly no reason at all. At his first appointment, Oscar masquerades as an old woman beggar on the Pont Alexandre III. At the next, Oscar wears a motion capture suit and performs an action sequence on a soundstage while being directed by an unseen man, then a simulated sex scene with an actress in another suit, with both being digitally rendered as snake-like creatures on the control screen. At Oscar's third appointment, he plays the role of Monsieur Merde, an eccentric and violent red-haired man who lives in the sewers and kidnaps a beautiful model called Kay M. from her photo-shoot in a cemetery. The next scene finds Oscar as a father picking up his daughter from a party in an old red car. The two argue when the daughter reveals that she had spent the party crying in the bathroom instead of socializing. Céline continues to drive Oscar to his appointments.

DIIV is an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York City, formed in 2011. The band consists of Zachary Cole Smith (vocals, guitar), Andrew Bailey (guitar), Colin Caulfield (bass, keyboards, guitar, vocals) and Ben Newman (drums).

Initially called Dive, the band started as Smith's solo recording project. After releasing three singles—"Sometime", "Human" and "Geist"—on Captured Tracks, DIIV released its debut studio album, Oshin, on June 26, 2012.

In 2016, the band released its second studio album, Is the Is Are, after a lengthy and troubled gestation period. On October 4, 2019, DIIV's third album, Deceiver, was released on Captured Tracks.

After a few years playing guitar with the psych-rock band Soft Black and playing drums for Beach Fossils, Zachary Cole Smith formed DIIV in 2011 as a forum for his own songs. He enlisted childhood friend Andrew Bailey (like Smith, from Connecticut) on guitar, bassist Devin Ruben Perez (from New York City), and ex-Smith Westerns drummer Colby Hewitt (from California) as his live band. Smith, who originally named the project "Dive" after the Nirvana song of the same name, explained to Pitchfork that "everybody in the band is a water sign, that's kind of why the name Dive really spoke to us all." Smith would eventually change the spelling of the band's name after learning of the early 1990s Belgian industrial act by that name.

Linda and Terry Jamison are American identical twins based in Los Angeles, California who claim to be psychics. The Jamisons predictions have been featured in tabloid newspapers, and they have appeared in various media. They claim to have channeled the spirits of dead celebrities and predicted future events such as the September 11 attacks, however critics question the accuracy of their predictions, as well as the reality of their claimed supernatural powers.

The Jamisons grew up in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Their parents, Jane and Philip Jamison, were writers and painters. The Jamisons attended Temple University, and later worked as painters and performance artists.

After leaving West Chester, the twins moved to Los Angeles and refocused their career as psychics, calling themselves "The Psychic Twins", reportedly charging more than $500 per person for psychic readings. According to the Jamisons, they have predicted the future and contacted spirits of the dead, such as Lady Diana, Natalie Wood and Michael Jackson.

Chelsea Nikkel, better known by her stage name Princess Chelsea, is a producer and musician from Auckland, New Zealand, and a previous member of twee pop band the Brunettes and Auckland band Teenwolf. Nikkel is associated with the Lil' Chief Records collective and is a part-time member of Auckland soul group the Cosbys and Disciples of Macca, a Paul McCartney covers band featuring members of the Brunettes, Ruby Suns, Bressa Creeting Cake and Lawrence Arabia and more recently performs as bass player in three-piece rock'n'roll band, Hang Loose.

MacBriare Samuel Lanyon DeMarco is a Canadian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. DeMarco has released six full-length studio albums, his debut Rock and Roll Night Club (2012), 2 (2012), Salad Days (2014), This Old Dog (2017), Here Comes the Cowboy (2019), and Five Easy Hot Dogs (2023). He additionally released the mini-album Another One in 2015. His style of music has been described as "blue wave" and "slacker rock", or, by DeMarco himself, "jizz jazz".

Eagle Seagull (sometimes stylized as Eagle*Seagull) was an American indie rock band from Lincoln, Nebraska, United States that singer/songwriter Eli Mardock formed in 2004.

They released their debut album, Eagle*Seagull, in 2006 and released an EP, called I Hate EP's in March 2008.

In 2007, they did a Take-Away Show video session shot by Vincent Moon. In August 2008, Eagle Seagull contributed their track "I'm Sorry But I'm Beginning to Hate Your Face" to the indie compilation, Indiecater Vol. 2.

Their long delayed second album, The Year of the How-To Book, was released on March 29, 2010 on PIAS Recordings in Europe. Recorded in 2007 and 2008, the album's release was delayed for two years due to a conflict with their record label at that time. The album was released in North America in the fall of 2010 digitally only. The album was produced by Ryan Hadlock (of The Gossip, Blonde Redhead, and Stephen Malkmus) and recorded at Bear Creek Studio in Seattle, WA.

"You'll Never Get to Heaven (If You Break My Heart)" is a song composed by Burt Bacharach, with lyrics by Hal David. It was originally recorded by Dionne Warwick in 1964, who charted at number 34 in the US Billboard Hot 100 with her version. It was covered by the Stylistics in 1973, who reached number 23 in the US with their cover.

Dionne Warwick recorded "You'll Never Get to Heaven (If You Break My Heart)" in 1964, and released it as the second single release from her third studio album. The song was an international hit, reaching number 34 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 28 on the Cash Box Top 100. It did better elsewhere, peaking at number 20 in the UK and at number 15 in Canada. The B-side, "A House Is Not a Home", was also a chart hit, reaching number 71 on Billboard, number 50 on Cash Box and number 37 in Canada.

Daughter is an English indie folk trio. Fronted by North London native Elena Tonra, the band was formed in 2010 after the addition of Swiss guitarist Igor Haefeli and drummer Remi Aguilella from France. They have released four EPs and three albums, and are currently signed to Glassnote and 4AD (Europe). After playing the local London circuit, they toured supporting Ben Howard around Europe and have since played headlining tours around North America, Europe and Australia.

TV Girl is an American indie pop band from San Diego, California, consisting of Brad Petering, Jason Wyman, and Wyatt Harmon. The group is now based in Los Angeles.
