Megan is an all-American girl. She's a cheerleader and has a boyfriend, but she doesn't like kissing him very much, and she's pretty tactile with her cheerleader friends, and she only has pictures of girls up in her locker. Her parents and friends conclude that she *must* be gay and send her off to "sexual redirection" school, full of admittedly homosexual misfits, where she can learn how to be straight. Will Megan be turned around to successful heterosexuality, or will she succumb to her love for the beautiful Graham?

His friend Tetsuo is injured in an accident and taken to a top-secret government facility. He develops telekinetic powers but decides to use them for evil rather than good. He has the same powers as Akira, the force that destroyed Tokyo in 1988, and now it appears that history will repeat itself.

The protagonist is a boozing loser. He can set a fresh course and set things right, but chooses not to. He has a part-time job, but does not try or try hard enough. He is either absent or careless. Instead he lives with a room-mate who subsists on government assistance and goes drinking with him when he can be on time, keep his promise and go on a date with his colleague who for some reason fancies him. It is a matter of his future.

Coincidentally, there is something distinctive about her.

Mami doesn't have a job and is closed off in her own world. Her father Eisuke struggles to strike the right distance from her and worries about her future, so he finds her a job debugging video games. She silently plays video games for a job that wasn't supposed to involve talking with anyone, but things don't go as planned.

Hyakaou Academy is a private and elite institute that has catered to the well-to-do for over a century. The academic ranking is based on the pupils' gambling winnings. The best are rewarded by prestige, status, wealth and lording over the bottom ranks. Yumeko is new to the academy. Her pretty enchantress looks are only surpassed by her voracious appetite to gamble it all and win it all.

I made a vow that I'd steer clear of going overboard in my cinema diet and ensure that my 2020 diary would end up less than 200 entries long after hitting that record two years running, but err, *nervous laughter*, this is a bit much, don't you think?

It’s my 25th year of existence. I survived the chaos. I can travel by myself on the overground, the underground and the bus. I know how to get myself to the ICA, I thirst for celluloid more than ever before, I have a lifetime membership at the Prince Charles Cinema and the BFI Southbank is screening animation all year round. Also, the cinema at my favourite shopping centre now has reclining seats.

Right.
