"Dead of Night" was a non-hosted UK television anthology series of supernatural fiction, produced by the BBC and broadcast on BBC2 in 1972. Dead of Night ran for a single series in the autumn of 1972. Of its seven 50-minute episodes, only three-"The Exorcism", "Return Flight", and "A Woman Sobbing" are known to remain in the BBC's archives. BBC Four re-broadcast "The Exorcism" on 22 December 2007. The surviving episodes were released on DVD by the BFI in October 2013, with extras including a gallery of stills from the missing episodes, the downloadable scripts for all missing episodes, and a booklet featuring essays and biographies by Lisa Kerrigan, Oliver Wake, Derek Johnston and Alex Davidson.

"Beasts" was a non-hosted 1976 UK horror anthology television series. Written by Nigel Kneale, The series consisted of six self-contained episodes that feature the recurring theme of bestial horror. The series was made by ATV for the ITV Network.

The elderly Tom Parfitt (Sir Michael Palin) fakes a fall at his long-term terraced house in bleak Yorkshire, to escape to a care home. One by one, strange things begin happening to those in contact with Tom, including Hannah and her family, and Tom soon vanishes from his hospital bed without explanation. Returning to Tom's home, Hannah starts to piece together several clues which lead her to Scarborough, where a dark secret from Tom's past comes to light and it becomes apparent that the paranormal are moving against them.
