Sista, ohyggligt spännande, delen i trilogin om Frihetskrigen. Tusen år har förflutit sedan sist och det avgörande slaget är nära Unadan har hamnat i händerna på en kraftfull härskare, en kvinna som styr med järnhand. Avskydd och fruktad, men så stark att ingen rår på henne. Två barn växer upp med kvinnan i borgen Ainamoor, en pojke och en flicka. Flickan är kvinnans dotter, pojken vet bara kvinnan varifrån han kommer. Hon påstår att också han är hennes barn, men han vet att hon ljuger. Är han den frihetskämpe som Unadans folk väntar på, eller är han ett redskap i händerna på makterna som en gång skapade världen och som nu vill erövra den igen.

Niklas Krog, född 1965, är en svensk författare som bland annat skrivit böcker i fantasygenren, men även historisk skönlitteratur och lättlästa böcker. Han sitter på stol nummer sex i Svenska barnboksakademien.Han första publicerade roman var korstågsromanen Under Guds himmel som gavs ut 1996. Under tiden skrev han på sin första fantasybok En krigares hjärta som tog fyra år att skriva och gavs ut 1997.I sin ungdom spelade Krog basket med A-landslaget, juniorlandslaget och tog SM-guld med Alvik Basket 1986.Hösten 2008 skrev han en ungdomsbok om basket, som heter "Ingen rädsla". Fortsättningen kom våren 2010 och heter "Turk &amp; Ayla". Nästa ungdomsroman, som släpptes i september 2012, har titeln Turk och Timotej - En natt, där Timotej är Lina Forss' romanfigur och de skrev boken tillsammans. De har även planer för att fortsätta samarbetet.

I have been reading this book for YEARS! I bought it the first time I lived in Sweden (IN 2001!!!) b/c it was the only Swedish fantasy out back then, besides children's lit (though it was kept in the kids section b/c they had no fantasy section). At the time my swedish wasn't great and I had trouble getting far in it. Now I can read it fine, but am always distracted by other things I "should" be reading. In any case, this is an excellent book so far, better than most american fantasy I read these days, appropriate for both kids and adults. More Swedish fantasy has come out since, particularly a bunch associated with NeoGames (I think that's what it was called), but I haven't had a chance to get to those either. Krog still seems like the strongest out of contemporary Swedish fantasy to me, so I want to finish him first, then move on. Briefly, the setting is high fantasy (the type that provides a map at the beginning), has magic, empires, and special soldiers who patrol on flying creatures which aren't quite dragons. Everything you could want!

Chihiro and her parents are moving to a small Japanese town in the countryside, much to Chihiro's dismay. They go through the tunnel and find an abandoned amusement park on the other side, with its own little town. When her parents see a restaurant with great-smelling food but no staff, they decide to eat and pay later. However, Chihiro refuses to eat and decides to explore the theme park a bit more. She meets a boy named Haku who tells her that Chihiro and her parents are in danger, and they must leave immediately. She runs to the restaurant and finds that her parents have turned into pigs. In addition, the theme park turns out to be a town inhabited by demons, spirits, and evil gods. At the center of the town is a bathhouse where these creatures go to relax. The owner of the bathhouse is the evil witch Yubaba, who is intent on keeping all trespassers as captive workers, including Chihiro. Chihiro must rely on Haku to save her parents in hopes of returning to their world.
