My mother pursed her lips. “I’m telling you that … you’re getting too old for me to tell you what to do. I’m telling you that I’ll support you, even if what you decide to do is dangerous.”And this kind of settles in which direction this third book is heading. If you’re already familiar with Percy Jackson (which I’m pretty certain you are, because otherwise you wouldn’t read this review, right? *lol*) you know that the first two books were fun and had a lot of jokes in them. The third one? Not so much. Whilst it’s true that “The Titan’s Curse” was very entertaining and full of Uncle Rick’s trademark adventures I still have to point out that it was way more serious than its predecessors. ”It’s cool. No sword. See? No sword. Calm thoughts. Sea grass. Mama cows. Vegetarianism.”Yes, we still have Percy’s funny remarks but just like the Harry Potter series this series is growing as well. The characters get older and their quests get more dangerous and grim. The stakes are higher and our characters are forced to realize that not everyone can be saved by a hero. For instance we’re barely a few chapters into the book when Annabeth disappears with the enemy. There’s no trace of her left and for all they know she even might be dead. Not that Percy would consider such an outcome! He has to save Annabeth because he just knows that she’s still alive! ;-) So what to do when you’re stranded on a cliff? Right, you call for the sun gods help to hitch a ride. XD”Wow,” Thalia muttered. “Apollo is hot.”“He’s the sun god,” I said.“That’s not what I meant.” I totally agree with Thalia btw! *lol* I loved that Apollo was a recurring part of this book and I can’t wait to read his series! He seems to be such a fun guy and I was more than just intrigued by his character. &lt;3 Artemis and her Hunters were a great addition to the cast as well, and the Di Angelo twins? I think we’ll read more about them in future books! ;-) I’m really looking forward to this because I already like little Nico and took him to my heart! The true star of this story is Bessie the cow serpent though and if you don’t know who that is you better read the book and find out! *lol*”This is why I don’t use mortals,” Luke said. “They are unreliable.”“They are weak-minded, easily bought, and violent,” the General said. “I love them.” But of course there need to be real enemies in “The Titan’s Curse” as well and this time around they are pretty decent and smart. Next to Luke we have to face the General and this adversary is as dangerous and cunning as they come. Knowing my myths I wasn’t surprised about the story behind the man, but as a kid I probably would have been shocked. *lol* (view spoiler)[I mean the book is named “The Titan’s Curse” and Annabeth and Artemis have to hold up a mountain. Does this ring a bell? If you paid attention at school you must have figured out that the General is Atlas so that big revelation didn’t hit me as hard as it would have when I was younger. Who knew education could take away some of your enjoyment? *lol* (hide spoiler)]

Book report The Mark of AthenaHafeleni HamunyelaJanuary 14 2014The Mark of Athena, a fantasy book with one of the best selling authors, Rick Riordan. This book continues from the “Son of Neptune” in the “Heroes of Olympus” series after the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series. The Mark of Athena is a book which has to do with Greek and Roman Mythology. Hazel, Frank, Annebeth,Percy,Jason, Piper and Leo, the prophecy of seven, where sent on a quest to defeat the twin giants, Otis and Ephialtes. Who are the sons of Gaea, an evil goddess (known as mother earth,) who can wake up and soon destroy the world. This story relates to the story when Gaea “killed” her husband and ruled with her kids, the giants. Then later on, she has a child named Kronos who gave birth to the gods of Olympus, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades etc. The story ends when the gods of Olympus make her sleep because she is too evil and powerful, and later on defeat the giants. How the Mark of Athena relates to this story is because the seven demigods have to destroy Gaea and her children in modern day. The Mark of Athena shows a theme of challenges. The story begins when the demigods from “Camp Half Blood,” a camp for Greek demigods go meat “Camp Jupiter,” a Roman camp. These two camps don't get along and they need to, in order to defeat Gaea. However, problems begging to happen when a demigod from “Camp Half Blood,” Leo Valdez possessed by eidolens decides to take the ship away and destroy some of the camp, this caused Romans to hate them even more which was Gaea's plan. But that's not even the best part, the twin giants have captured Nico, the seven demigods need to save Nico Di Angelo, Hazel Levesque's brother or else he will die in 7 days. Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena has to go through a challenging quest by following the Mark of Athena a quest where none of the children of Athena have succeeded, but have gone through painful deaths. Her challenge is to return her mom's statue to camp which was captured by Arachne, Athena's worst enemy. I think Rick Riordan did a good job in the book by teaching the readers some Greek myths as they run into people. However, I think Rick Riordan should of worked more on creating more battles in the book which kind of disappointed me. This story is interesting and it has more then one narrator. I recommend this book to people at any age who love fantasy books or finished reading the Son of Neptune. I strongly believe this book is much more interesting then Twilight and Harry Potter. My second recommendation is to advice people to read The House of Hades once you are finished with the Mark of Athena. The Mark of Athena ends with a cliff hanger which would make you eager to read the next book. The Mark of Athena is an exciting, romantic book.

fantasy adventure novel, 2012, third and last in the Kane trilogy

I liked the Heroes of Olympus a lot more than Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The new cast of characters are wonderful, and I love seeing the old cast a bit more mature than when we last saw them. I figured my Greek mythology knowledge was pretty good, but I learned more about life previous to the Greek gods in this series. What's fun is that this knowledge is weaved into the background of the story. Seeing all the demigods grow into their own and work together was a lot of fun. Where as Percy/Annabeth are a minor aspect of the prequel, it's more of a major plot element in this series and I grew to adore those two together. I'd love to seem them again in another story. The only thing I really didn't like about this series was Nico. After the end of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, I was really excited to see Nico. After Nico made friends and was accepted by the camp, I expected him to be a cool character. Instead, Riordan decided to pretend like Nico hadn't been accepted or made any friends, and he became more whiny and obnoxious than he had ever been. He irritated me pretty much the entire series.

Percy is confused. When he awoke from his long sleep, he didn't know much more than his name. His brain fuzz is lingering, even after the wolf Lupa told him he is a demigod and trained him to fight with the pen/sword in his pocket. Somehow Percy manages to make it to a camp for half-bloods, despite the fact that he has to keep killing monsters along the way. But the camp doesn't ring any bells with him. The only thing he can recall from his past is another name: Annabeth. Hazel is supposed to be dead. When she lived before, she didn't do a very good job of it. Sure, she was an obedient daughter, even when her mother was possessed by greed. But that was the problem—when the Voice took over her mother and commanded Hazel to use her "gift" for an evil purpose, Hazel couldn't say no. Now because of her mistake, the future of the world is at risk. Hazel wishes she could ride away from it all on the stallion that appears in her dreams. Frank is a klutz. His grandmother says he is descended from heroes and can be anything he wants to be, but he doesn't see it. He doesn't even know who his father is. He keeps hoping Apollo will claim him, because the only thing he is good at is archery—although not good enough to win camp war games. His bulky physique makes him feel like an ox, especially in front of Hazel, his closest friend at camp. He trusts her completely—enough to share the secret he holds close to his heart. Beginning at the "other" camp for half-bloods and extending as far as the land beyond the gods, this breathtaking second installment of the Heroes of Olympus series introduces new demigods, revives fearsome monsters, and features other remarkable creatures, all destined to play a part in the Prophesy of Seven.

Rocko is a wallaby who has emmigrated to America from Australia. He lives in O Town and tries to get through life but, of course, comes across a multitude of dilemmas and misadventures he must get through. Other characters include Rocko's best friend, Heffer, a steer who has been raised by wolves, Filbert, an easily upset turtle, and Ed Bighead who detests Rocko and hates having him for a next door neighbor. On this show, Rocko has such adventures as trying to adapt to a new vacuum cleaner, having Heffer move in temporarily after his parents kick him out, and going to a movie theater.

When their parents have another litter, the Norbert (the smart one) and Daggett (the stupid one) Beaver have to strike out on their own. Their new home on a lake in middle of the forest seems to be the scene of most every odd occurrence imaginable. The two beavers have to deal with wacko government scientists, 100-foot walking splinters, super-long teeth, a fish so big it can swallow a Swede, a giant cricket, the dreaded stinky toe, evil mind-controlling pond scum, a Swamp Witch, zombies, Mexican wrestlers, lying documentary-film makers, a stupidity potion, a big fat hairy naked Canadian, and a too-friendly robot, along with many other problems. In the midst of all this, Norb and Dag satisfy their love of Grade-Z 50's sci-fi, hot peppers, Yoo-hoo, and, of course, wood.

His parents are divorced, but it doesn't feel strange since so many other kids' parents are divorced. His friend Jason actually feels upset because his parents are still together. At school, he is taught soccer by his coach John McGirk, or as he calls him, "that weird Irish guy".

American adult animated television sitcom

Orel Puppington is an optimistic, well-intentioned, and devoutly religious 11-year-old whose Christian devotion, enthusiastic church attendance, and general naiveté leads him to grossly misinterpret Bible lessons, often with morbid and ghastly consequences. In doing so, he unintentionally exposes the hypocrisy and duplicity of his family (particularly his father Clay), the members of his community, and ultimately, organized religion itself. Set in the fictional American state of Statesoda, which is located in the middle of the lower 48 states, "Moral Orel" has a stop-motion animation style similar to "Davey & Goliath", and appears to parody the religious undertones of the latter show. However, creator Dino Stamatopoulos intended for the show to be more of a parody of whole 1950's sitcoms such as "Leave It To Beaver" and "Father Knows Best".

A young woman who's attempting to find her place in the world battles with her controlling mother and a womanizing husband finds comfort and confusion with the appearance of her childhood friend. It is a zappy movie that emphasizes self-actualization.

Miami scam artist Pest Vargas is on the run from the Scottish mob and a German headhunter, the mob after 50,000 dollars, the German guy after his head. Pest dons many disguises in an attempt to evade their clutches.

Cheech & Chong are invited to a celebrity party/festival in Amsterdam. When they get there, however, it turns out that the guy who invited them has taken off with all the money, and the rest of the hosts have a VERY limited budget. They are actually expecting Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton, so our heroes gets to be Mr. Burt and Mr. Dolly. We follow them around Amsterdam, at their hotel, (still) smokin' joints and doing shows.

Our hero, Lok Lambert, is an ordinary high school student with a knack for puzzles. While he's studying with classmate Sophie Casterwill, they happen to find a magic Amulet and a journal left behind by Lok's missing father. However, the evil Organization, a group of evil monster summoners called Seekers are after the book. They attack Sophie and Lok with their monsters, called Titans. Sophie is also a Seeker and is able to defend herself, but Lok is forced into a dangerous chase to protect the journal. They join up with master adventurer Dante Vale, who is a heroic Seeker with the Huntik Foundation. Sophie wants to help Lok, because her family's secret symbol is on the cover of the journal. She hires Dante Vale with her family fortune to help them find Lok's father and train them both to be master Seekers. As they follow the clues to Prague, they add a new Seeker to the team, a mysterious lone wolf named Zhalia Moon, and a mysterious little Titan with the ability to talk, Cherit. When the mission to find Lok's father reaches a dead end, Dante and Zhalia let Lok and Sophie come with them on official Huntik Foundation missions, giving them excellent opportunities to develop their Seeker powers and find new Titans to help them in battle. The Huntik Team repeatedly clashes with the Organization, the scheming chemist DeFoe, the by-the-book Grier, the mad scientist Klaus, the powerful and competent Rassimov and the ultimate leader, The Professor. They defeat DeFoe and Grier takes his place, but he turns out to be an honorable man who used his power as an Organization officer to stop a civil war in his home country. Klaus proves to be extremely dangerous, and even reveals that Zhalia has been his double agent all along. Luckily, disaster is averted when Zhalia's feelings for Dante and the others cause her to switch sides at the last minute. Finally, Dante, Lok and the others pick up the trail of Lok's father and it leads them right to the Professor, the Legendary Titans of Mind, Body and Spirit, and a powerful artifact called the Ancient Amulet of Will. However, when they go to confront The Professor, he is much more manipulative than they could have imagined. He manages to convince the unflappable Dante to give up his Legendary Titans with the promise that The Professor would be able to cure Dante's mentor, Metz. Lok is forced to take control of the mission and defeat The Professor himself.

After "crashing" the super hero convention in Reno, the nigh invulnerable blue-clad super hero, the Tick, is deemed the protector of "The City." On his first patrol he runs (more like "falls") into Arthur, an accountant in a moth costume. They soon strike up a partnership. When the villainous and muffled idea men threaten to flood The City, the Tick and Arthur come to the rescue. Along the way we meet Die Fledermaus, American Maid, and the Caped Chameleon. The Human Bullet cameos.

A witch becomes one if at age thirteen she takes a mandatory one-year trip to find herself and perfect her skills. Kiki takes the trip and lands in a seaside town where she begins supporting herself and her black cat by offering a delivery service. The young witch is soon embroiled in a bakery, a wind mill, a zoo, teenage antics and a medical emergency. It is when she is most needed, however, that Kiki has to find the resolve to continue.

In Victorian London, England, a little mouse girl's toymaker father is abducted by a peglegged bat. She enlists the aid of Basil of Baker Street, the rodent world's answer to Sherlock Holmes. The case expands as Basil uncovers the crime's link to a plot against the Crown itself.

After a plane crash in the ocean, a group of military students reach an island. Ralph organizes the boys, assigning responsibilities for each one. When the rebel Jack Merridew neglects the fire camp and they lose the chance to be seen by a helicopter, the group split under the leadership of Jack. While Ralph rationalizes the procedures, Jack returns to the primitivism, using the fear for the unknown (in a metaphor to the religion) to control the other boys, and hunting and chasing pigs, stealing the possession of Ralph's group and even killing people.
