Over the last couple years, I've talked a lot about how some things bother me in storytelling. One of the things that bothers me the most is when a child is put in danger in order to grab cheap dramatic tension in a story. Even worse is when a child is hurt/killed/threatened order to build character or establish something about the world.90% of the time it's lazy storytelling of the highest degree, and 9% of the time it's little more than emotional abuse. I think of it as roughly equivalent to fridging someone's love interest. Interestingly, Saga seems to be the exception to this rule for me. There are children in the story, in peril, and it feels real, but I never feel like the storytelling is cheap or making a bullshitty grab for my emotion. One of the many reasons this comic is amazing....

My favorite volume so far! The art? Stunning. The plot? A+.Despite it being one of the shorter volumes, so much happened. I think part of the reason this was so successful was the time jump. The past three volumes have all occurred back to back, and there wasn't much time for new obstacles to pop up. Volume 4 has a new villain who actually frightens me as well as new strain on Alana and Marko's relationship. Not to mention Sophie has grown up into a fierce little girl.Now, I'm not sure if this is really the best volume so far or if I've become more used to the vulgar and abrasiveness of this series, which has allowed me to enjoy the story more. Maybe both?I read the past four volumes in less than 12 hours (they are seriously addictive), so I'm taking a breather. But then watch out! I'll be marathoning the rest for sure.P.S. Can I please adopt Ghüs?

Warning: I don't use SPOILER TAGS!I am doing this review for the whole series. I found out about the Chronicles of Vladimir Todd in my recommendation list from a different GR account. At first, I wasn't curious or has this desire to read it even though I'm having a "Vampire streak" in my Read list before. But after exhausting myself with dystopian themed books, I finally gave this book a chance.Vladimir Tod is the only vampire living in Bathory. Life isn't easy for Vlad specially after his parent mysterious death. As he went through the changes brought about by school life and his vampire nature, Vlad must go through a series of trial to control his power and eventually try to disproof the prophecy about the powerful Pravus. Vladimir Tod isn't my typical vampire - he isn't popular and has none of the "vampire mojo" I'm used to see in the other vampire series I've read. And that was refreshing. Vlad, as a character, is so real to me. Heather Brewer made him an ordinary school kid - who has ups and downs, girl crushes, problems with dating. Aside from that she made Vlad appealing with his powers and the Prophecy about the Pravus. The other characters amused me too. Henry is adorable. He reminds me of Ron Weasley - in the basis of his loyalty with Vlad. Their friendship is real - drudge or not drudge. And Otis - I love this man. I was crying in the end part when his secrets were revealed. I wish the part of Nelly dying could be change. That was the downside of this series, I think. Aside from the characters, I truly commend the author on how she wrote the whole series. The flow, and that cliffhanger was wham! I wasn't expecting Vlad's dad to be alive and the mastermind of everything. I pity Vlad for that outcome. Deception by your own family, the thought will wrecked me and left me in rage. However, Vlad wasn't all like that. His growth as a character made me love this series so much. I wish it didn't end that way. Although I don't like Josh at all, I'm planning to read his POV. I give this a 4.5 stars.(minus for Nelly's death)

Bugs Bunny, the famous, Oscar-winning cartoon rabbit, hosts his first weekly television series, along with all his fellow Warner Brothers cartoon stars, including Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, the Tasmanian Devil, Tweety Bird, Sylvester Cat, the Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Pepe Le Pew, Foghorn Leghorn, and Speedy Gonzales. Each episode features three theatrical cartoons introduced by Bugs and/or the other characters, and often with a unifying idea, or theme. Many episodes feature Bugs as a lecturer on such subjects as cats, dogs, birds, and humans, and offering classic Warner Brothers cartoon footage to comically illustrate his points.

Sabrina Spellman (Melissa Joan Hart), a perfectly normal sixteen-year-old, is informed by her aunts, Hilda (Caroline Rhea) and Zelda (Beth Broderick), that she (and they, and her whole family on her father's side) are witches. She lives with them in Massachusetts while preparing to receive her witch's license. Along the way, she gets into many scrapes while figuring out how certain spells work. She also has to keep the secret from her boyfriend, Harvey (Nate Richert), friends Jenny (Michelle Beaudoin), and later Valerie (Lindsay Sloane), stuck-up nemesis Libby (Jenna Leigh Green), and the ever-suspicious Principal Willard Kraft (Martin Mull).

In each pulse-racing "Fear Factor" episode, contestants (sometimes solo, often paired with spouses, siblings or best friends) recruited from across the nation must decide if they have the guts and determination to face their most primal fears. Under the supervision of professional Hollywood stunt coordinators, contestants are confronted with a series of challenging stunts. If they complete their task they advance; if fear stops them from completing a stunt or they fail the mission, they are immediately eliminated. The contestant who wins the final challenge takes home the prize.

"Baggage" is a dating game show with a difference. In order to advance in the game, you must show your potential match every embarrassing piece of Baggage about yourself. In the first round, three women enter with three suitcases each; small, medium, and large. They can alternatively be three men with a woman as the main contestant. The main contestant brings with them a huge red bag containing a shocking piece of Baggage that is revealed at the end of the night. The three women open their smallest piece of Baggage, which is normally an annoying habit, something they did as a child, or another comical secret. The main contestant gives their views on each of the cases, and then is presented with three medium ones. These contain more embarrassing secrets, and each belongs to one of the three women, but it not revealed who until the main contestant decides which case they will eliminate from the game. The women then claim their baggage, and the one who owns the eliminated case exits the game. The remaining two face off by opening their biggest suitcases, which hold their deepest and darkest secret, and the main contestant must choose which secret he finds less shocking. The owner of the worse case is forced to leave. The winning woman is given three choices of what is inside the red bag, and professes which they would react to the most. The big red bag belonging to the main contestant is opened, and the chosen woman must choose whether she can live with the secret. If she cannot, the main contestant is told "that they have too much baggage" and must leave.

Contestants guess hidden phrases by guessing letters one at a time. Contestants win money or prizes, as determined by a spin of the wheel, for each correct consonant they guess. But they have to pay to see what vowels are in a puzzle. The contestant that has amassed the most winnings at the end of a game goes on to play the bonus round, in which the player can win even more -- prizes frequently seen in the bonus round include automobiles, vacations and more cash.

Deep below the ocean's surface, looms a vast, magnificently high-tech compound: Sealab. A multi-national scientific station with an annual budget in the trillions, dedicated to the research and exploration of man's final frontier - Sealab's crew is charged with exploring the possibility of underwater colonization. As the Earth's surface, by this time, has gotten just generally crowded, hot, and icky. However, as most government-funded agencies usually are, Sealab is manned by a motley collection of malcontents and screw-ups who were unfit for work in the private sector. They really don't get any research done, but instead spend their time bickering among themselves. Or just plain goofing off. The crew have manipulated their luckless leader, Captain Murphy, into submission, and are content to ride the government clock, raking in fat, hazardous-duty paychecks.

American animated television series (2000-2005)

In this offbeat game show, players picked up in the Cash Cab have to answer trivia questions with mounting cash values before they reach their destination in order to win. If a player answers incorrectly three times, he is kicked out of the cab without any money. Help options include a Mobile Shout-Out (phone call) and Street Shout-Out (asking a stranger on the street). Once the player reaches his destination, he can leave the cab with his winnings, if any, or risk them on a more difficult question. A correct final answer doubles his winnings; an incorrect answer means he leaves the cab with no money at all. Comic

1,000 Ways to Die, an anthology television series that aired on Spike/Spike TV from May 14, 2008 to July 15, 2012, showcased shocking reenactments of deaths of individuals who often met the grim reaper in unorthodox or outlandish ways. Often recreated in a fast-paced, tongue-in-cheek manner, the stories were based on actual events, but dramatic license was used liberally. Voice-over narration provided background information on each death. The deaths were recreated in a variety of ways including witness testimonials, historical tidbits, scientific expert analysis, graphic computer-generated imagery animation, interviews, live-action recreation, and even actual footage when available. Each death ended with a title which was a pun, often based on some popular word or phrase.

Donnie Darko doesn't get along too well with his family, his teachers, and his classmates; but he does manage to find a sympathetic friend in Gretchen, who agrees to date him. When a small town is invaded by aliens from outer space who are capturing and killing the townspeople, no one takes them seriously. Why? Six thugs, who are strangers to each other, are hired by a crime boss, Joe Cabot, to carry out a diamond robbery. When the remaining people assemble at the premeditated rendezvous point (a warehouse), they begin to suspect that one of them is an undercover cop.
