GOD! I freaking loved this book so much! It was so much better than the first two! They just keep getting better and better. Although, I do know there is a book coming up that I am dreading. I fall more in love with these characters every time I read about them. We are finally back to where we started in the first book with the characters I know. Now a couple of peeps came from the second book but not too much. I'm guessing they are all going to be together at some point if they don't all die before then. I really loved the character of Silverfox. She was brought back from someone that died in the first book. I'm not saying anything else about that though. And we all know I loved Rake being back in the book. But those are not the only characters. Whiskeyjack, Picker, Blend, Dujek, Quick Ben... ugg there are just so many. You can't help but fall in love with them and this story. At least I can't. The ending was freaking sad! Jesus, I know that he's going to make all of the books have sad endings and we are going to lose so many more of the people that we love. But then again, some do come back but not necessarily as who they were before. I don't know. I do know that Mr. Erikson can break a heart and he's going to keep breaking mine until it's totally gone. seventh book of the Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Just like the main series, I was determined to finish the Malazan Empire this year but I may have to rethink that decision after my experience of reading this book.Night of Knives is the first book in the Malazan Empire series, a spin-off to the main series that’s written by the other creator of the Malazan universe, Ian Esslemont. A lot of people mentioned that Esslemont is not Erikson (these four words must’ve haunted Esslemont for years by now) and usually, I’ll say that it’s really not really fair for everyone to endlessly compare these two; it’s obvious that every author has a different style. But in this special situation, I must say that the comparison is really well deserved because both of them write canon stories in the same universe which they created together.I won’t lie, I didn’t enjoy reading this small book; it left a bad taste in my mouth. I was honestly shocked by how bad the experience of reading this book was. It came down to how Esslemont’s prose absolutely didn’t work for me. No, it’s not because the prose was simplistic; I loved a lot of simplistic prose. It’s just that the prose was incapable of keeping me engaged or invested in the characters. Esslemont focused so much more on the never-ending barrage of action sequences rather than the crucially needed characterizations. Unlike the main series, we don’t have a lot of POV to follow; only two, Temper and Kiska. Erikson is capable of making sure his giant cast of characters to be filled with unique, distinctive voice. In my opinion, Esslemont can’t do that even though there’s only two main POV to follow. The only parts of the book I enjoyed were the event surrounding Dassem Ultor, Dancer, Kellanved, and Sultry, and these were enjoyable to me only because I’ve read five books in the main series which overall has talked a bit about them. Don’t even get me started on Kiska’s POV. It was infuriating as hell to read a POV full of teenage angst in a Malazan universe. “I want to do something amazing, on the most dangerous of nights!” “What have I done I’m so dumb I’m gonna die” “Let me do that again!” “what nooo helpppp!!” Oh C'mon for fuck sake! I understand reading something like this in YA books but not in Malazan!I’ve seen a lot of people saying something like “Please push through, Esslemont get better with each installment.” Let's be honest here, we have given up on author just from reading their debut or one of their books and I’m pretty sure the majority of the people who told me to persevere has done the same thing; Esslemont get a pass only because he’s writing in the Malazan world. I’m not even talking about Erikson’s high standard here, but more on my experience with reading epic fantasy in general and I can say that I’ve read literally hundreds of book better than this. The next books in the series aren’t small, they’re significantly larger and I will give up on the series whenever I want to. If Malazan Book of the Fallen absolutely requires Malazan Empire to be fully enjoyed then might as well put Malazan Empire as part of the main series instead of it being a spin-off.Night of Knives was a huge disappointment, I have no idea how this will benefit the main series and I will find out pretty soon. No matter how much I love the main series, I don’t have enough patience while I’m drowning in a mountain of TBR to give a book I dislike a pass just because it’s written in the same world as one of my favorite series. I will give the next book in the series a go after I’m done with Reaper’s Gale before making my final decision on whether to continue or DNF this spin-off series, let’s just say that right now I’m 90% leaning towards dropping it. (I did give Return of the Crimson Guard a go. 25% in and nope, I can't do it, just awful. After the huge disappointment I had with House of Chains, Midnight Tides brought my love for Malazan Book of the Fallen back magnificently.Midnight Tides marks the fifth book in the Malazan Book of the Fallen series. That’s right, this means that I’m halfway through the series now! Knowing that this is the fifth book in the series, it surprised me at first that instead of continuing the story from everything that has been built in the previous four books, the narrative started its story back to the time before the events in Gardens of the Moon; in a completely new continent with a new conflict and shockingly—with the exception of one character from House of Chains—a completely new set of characters. I mean, this is the fifth book of the series already! Isn’t it crazy that we don’t get to see the majority of the previous four book characters in it? Well, it IS crazy but please don’t be intimidated by this fact. Picture: Scabandari Reigns by Lauren Saint-OngeThe story in Midnight Tides revolved around the conflict between the Tiste Edur race and the Letherii Empire. The Tiste Edur has appeared several times throughout the series but it has never been explored in depth until now. Let me say that I absolutely loved the themes surrounding this installment. Starting from the masterful prologue, Erikson style, I was pleasantly surprised by how the story developed. It took me a bit of time to get used to the new characters, settings, and story, but once the book hit chapter nine, I was hooked and addicted to reading this book. Never have I read a fantasy book that correlates the problems around the social structure in the work with our modern society and politics as well as Erikson did in this book. This was achievable because of the Letherii culture and lifestyle that put wealth and the lust for gold above every priority. I absolutely love reading the themes and social commentaries in this book. Betrayal, greed, avarice, and how deep the corruption money or power can bring; it felt like looking at a reflection of the dark truth in our modern lifestyle in which our ‘greatness’ as a human being is heavily determined by our money and social status.\

    “To the Letherii, gold was all that mattered. Gold and its possession defined their entire world. Power, status, self-worth, and respect – all were commodities that could be purchased by coin. Indeed, debt bound the entire kingdom. Defining every relationship, the motivation casting the shadow of every act, every decision.”\

Great story and themes aside, Erikson also amazed me with his characterizations in this book. Although the book comprised of mostly new characters for the series, it was filled with some of the most well-written character developments within an installment of the series so far. This was evident for one pivotal character whose name I won’t mention and of course, my new beloved and highly entertaining duo, Tehol and Bugg. I’m not kidding, Tehol and Bugg currently sit at my top-tier level of the favorite duo of all time. Their interaction, their relationship, was utterly hilarious and their dynamic banter combined with Ublala Pung makes for one heck of a hilarious entertainment. There was one chapter surrounding these characters where I practically just laugh for the entirety of the chapter. Trust me that this is something incredibly rare for me in reading epic fantasy; I usually just smirk or smile, not laughing.\

One more thing to note is how stunning Erikson’s prose can be in this book. With commentaries and self-contemplation on social structure, wealth, politics, greed, and betrayals that made almost the entirety of this book quotable, Erikson also accompanied this book with phenomenal action sequences and tactics that made the book totally belong in the military epic fantasy genre. I’ll be honest, I’m not a fan of Erikson’s close quarter combat scenes; I’ve read plenty of authors who did a better job at it. However, with blood that rain upon the land, a staggering tower of bodies, and the massively catastrophic result of blind loyalty, poor leadership, and war; it’s his way of depicting the deadly power of the sorcerer’s magic capability within his series that made him really stood out from the majority of fantasy writers. The only con I had on the book was the abundance of dream sequences in Udinaas’s POV that was fired in rapid succession within the first quarter of the book. However, like I said before, once the book reached chapter nine, the book was an addictively smooth reading experience through and through.\

After the disappointment I had with the previous book, this installment easily reclaimed my love for the series with its continuous maelstrom of emotions. Midnight Tides was another amazing installment for the series that truthfully has become my second favorite book within the series so far, just slightly below Memories of Ice. A young man named Gary "Eggsy" Unwin (Taron Egerton), whose father died when he was a young boy, is dealing with living with the creep his mother is with now, who mistreats her and him. He goes out and does something to one of the creep's friends. He gets arrested and he calls the number a man gave him around the time his father died, to call if he needs help. A man named Harry Hart (Colin Firth) approaches him and tells him he's the one who helped him. He tells him that he knew his father. When the man Eggsy slighted wants some payback, Harry takes care of him and his companions single-handedly. Harry then tells Eggsy that he's part of a secret organization called "The Kingsman", and his father was also part of it. He died trying to make the world safe. Harry offers Eggsy the opportunity to be a Kingsman, and he takes it. He undergoes a gruelling training course. Harry is looking into the demise of another Kingsman, and the trail leads him to tech billionaire Valentine, a.k.a. "V" (Samuel L. Jackson), who is also curious about the group following him, the Kingsman.

Charlie asks her husband for money so he can buy a new Robot in exchange for turning Max over to them. He takes Max for the summer. And Max improves his control of his robot. But when the robot is destroyed, they go to a scrap yard to get parts. Max finds an old generation robot named Atom and restores him. Max wants Atom to fight but Charlie tells him he won't last a round. However, Atom wins. And it isn't long before Atom is getting major bouts. Max gets Charlie to teach Atom how to fight, and the father and son bond strenghtens.

In 2012, Louisiana State Police Detectives Rust Cohle and Martin Hart are brought in to revisit a homicide case they worked in 1995. The timelines braid and converge in 2012 as each man is pulled back into a world they believed they'd left behind. An innocent man is framed for the homicide of the Vice President's brother and scheduled to be executed at a super-max penitentiary, thus it's up to his younger brother to save him with his genius scheme: install himself in the same prison by holding up a bank and, as the final month ticks away, launch the escape plan step-by-step to break the both of them out, with his full-body tattoo acting as his guide; a tattoo which hides the layout of the prison facility and necessary clues vital to the escape.

This science-fiction Western series from Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy was inspired by Michael Crichton's Westworld (1973) and is set at a Wild West theme park created by Dr. Robert Ford (Sir Anthony Hopkins) with human-like androids, where guests are encouraged to indulge their fantasies and desires.

The crew follows the employees around 24/7 and captures their quite humorous and bizarre encounters as they will do what it takes to keep the company thriving.

Not knowing what to do he sets out to find his family, after he's done that, he gets connected to a group to become the leader. He takes charge and tries to help this group of people survive, find a place to live and get them food. This show is all about survival, the risks and the things you'll have to do to survive.
