The Walking Deadis an American post-apocalyptic comic book series created by writer Robert Kirkman. It focuses on Rick Grimes, a Kentucky deputy who is shot in the line of duty and awakens from a coma in a zombie apocalypse that has resulted in a state-wide quarantine. After joining with some other survivors, he gradually takes on the role of leader of a community as it struggles to survive the zombie apocalypse.First issued in 2003 by publisher Image Comics, the comic is written by Kirkman with art by Moore (issues No. 1–6) and Charlie Adlard (issue No. 7 onward). Moore continued to provide the covers through issue No. 24. The series ran for 193 issues, with Kirkman opting to end the series in July 2019 as a surprise to its readers.

Ender's Game is a 1985 military science fiction novel by American author Orson Scott Card. Slaughterhouse-Five, or, The Children's Crusade: A Duty-Dance with Death is a 1969 semi-autobiographic science fiction-infused anti-war novel by Kurt Vonnegut. It follows the life and experiences of Billy Pilgrim, from his early years, to his time as an American soldier and chaplain's assistant during World War II, to the post-war years, with Billy occasionally traveling through time. The text centers on Billy's capture by the German Army and his survival of the Allied firebombing of Dresden as a prisoner of war, an experience which Vonnegut himself lived through as an American serviceman. The work has been called an example of "unmatched moral clarity" and "one of the most enduring anti-war novels of all time".

Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox, known in America asArtemis Fowl: The Time Paradox, is the sixth book in the seriesArtemis Fowlby Irish writer Eoin Colfer. It was released in the U.S. on 5 July 2008, and on 7 August in the U.K. At 432 pages, it is the longest book in the series. In Colfer's video blogs, he mentioned the book, saying it may not be the last, but the last one for at least three years. It is followed byArtemis Fowl: The Atlantis Complex.Angeline Fowl, Artemis Fowl's mother contracts a debilitating disease, which Artemis worsens by trying to use magic. Artemis desperately contacts Captain Holly Short and No. 1, in hopes that they will be able to shed some new light on his mother's condition. They determine Angeline is suffering from Spelltropy, a fairy disease that is spread through the use of magic, and can only be cured by the brain fluid of the silky sifaka lemur of Madagascar. Unfortunately, the lemur is extinct, due to a ruthless deal Artemis made almost 8 years ago with a group called the Extinctionists. Foaly tells him that his mother will die without the cure. Artemis pleads for No.1 to open up the time stream, allowing him to save the lemur, and thus his mother. Foaly argues against the idea, but due to Artemis' lying to Holly, saying that she infected Angeline with Spelltropy, Holly agrees to help Artemis immediately to make up for it, and Foaly had to give in.

Artemis Fowl and the Opal Deception, known in America asArtemis Fowl: The Opal Deception, is a teen fantasy novel published in 2005, the 4th book in theArtemis Fowlseries by the Irish author Eoin Colfer. Preceded byArtemis Fowl: The Eternity Codeand followed byArtemis Fowl: The Lost Colony, it is centred on the brilliant pixie Opal Koboi's second try at rebellion (after her first attempt was a failure) and Artemis Fowl II and his fairy comrades' efforts to stop her. Critical reception was mixed, with some reviews praising the book but others pointing out confusion and poor writing. Artemis Fowl and the Atlantis Complex, known in America asArtemis Fowl: The Atlantis Complex, is the seventh book in theArtemis Fowlseries. It was published on 20 July 2010 in the United Kingdom and on 3 August 2010 in North America. It was followed byArtemis Fowl and the Last Guardian, which was confirmed to be the final book in the Artemis Fowl series.On Vatnajökull, a glacier in Iceland, Artemis unveils the Ice Cube, his invention to stop global warming (by shooting reflective nano wafers into the clouds, and having them rain down with the snow, and when they land, they reflect the sun's light and insulate the icebergs), to Captain Holly Short, Foaly, and Wing Commander Vinyáya. Holly tries mesmerizing him, but they are attacked by a mysterious spacecraft that Foaly designed to search for life on Mars. The craft crash lands, hits a shuttle, and instantly kills Commander Vinyáya and all LEP backup, leaving Holly, Foaly and Artemis stranded on the glacier without communications or weapons.

Artemis Fowl and the Arctic Incident, known in America asArtemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident, is a young adult and fantasy novel written by Irish author Eoin Colfer, published in 2002. It is the second book in theArtemis Fowlseries, preceded byArtemis Fowland followed byArtemis Fowl: The Eternity Code.
