Lo-fi is a music or production quality in which elements usually regarded as imperfections in the context of a recording or performance are present, sometimes as a deliberate choice. The standards of sound quality (fidelity) and music production have evolved throughout the decades, meaning that some older examples of lo-fi may not have been originally recognized as such. Lo-fi began to be recognized as a style of popular music in the 1990s, when it became alternately referred to as DIY music.

Lemongrassmusic ist ein Label für Elektronische Musik aus Espelkamp, Deutschland. Es wurde 2005 von Roland Voss und seinem Bruder Daniel Voss gegründet. Das Label ist spezialisiert auf Lounge, Ambient, Trance, Deep House, NuJazz und Trip-Hop.
Roland und Daniel Voss gründeten das Label 2005 zunächst als unabhängige Plattform zur Veröffentlichung ihrer verschiedenen Musikprojekte wie Lemongrass, Weathertunes, Five Seasons und Jasmon. Auf einer Tour in Japan trafen sie viele inspirierende Künstler, die innovative Musik spielten und in Europa unbekannt waren. Daraus entwickelte sich die Idee, diese Künstler auf einer Zusammenstellung der Öffentlichkeit zu präsentieren. So entstand 2006 Lemongrass Garden Volume 01 als erste Kompilation des Labels. In den nächsten Jahren folgten zahlreiche weitere Kompilationen, u. a. Klassik Lounge Nightflight Vol. 03 und Klassik Lounge Nightflight Vol. 04 im Auftrag des deutschen Radiosenders Klassik Radio. Neue internationale Künstler wurden unter Vertrag genommen und produziert. Heute ist Lemongrassmusic ein wichtiger Akteur der internationalen elektronischen Musikszene.

Chill-out(shortened aschill; also typeset aschilloutorchill out) is a loosely defined form of popular music characterized by slow tempos and relaxed moods. The definition of "chill-out music" has evolved throughout the decades, and generally refers to anything that might be identified as a modern type of easy listening. Some of the genres associated with "chill" include downtempo, classical, dance, jazz, hip hop, world, pop, lounge, and ambient.The term "chill-out music" – originally conflated with "ambient house" – came from an area called "The White Room" at the Heaven nightclub in London in 1989. There, DJs played ambient mixes from sources such as Brian Eno and Pink Floyd to allow dancers a place to "chill out" from the faster-paced music of the main dance floor. Ambient house became widely popular over the next decade before it declined due to market saturation.
