Melinda Hughes is a British opera singer, musical comedian and satirist. Melinda is the daughter of film director Ken Hughes.
Hughes studied at the Maastricht Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music. After suffering a neck injury in 2005, she switched from singing opera to writing and performing satirical cabaret.
Hughes was the Soprano soloist with violinist Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra. She toured Europe for three years. Her operatic roles sung in the UK, Europe and the USA include Aida, The Countess, Fiordiligi, Madame Butterfly, Mimi, Pamina, Donna Anna and Tosca.
In 2007, Hughes and composer Jeremy Limb formed Kiss and Tell cabaret. The group has performed at events and venues such as the Edinburgh Fringe, Hay Festival, Cadogan Hall, Holder's Festival|Holder’s Festival and Cobblers Live Festival in Barbados and the Metropolitan Room, New York.
