clap! clap!

Clap Clap Riot is a five-piece indie rock band based in Auckland, New Zealand.

The band originated in Canterbury and was originally named Band Theft Auto. The name Clap Clap Riot comes from the applause machine designed by John Lydon for the show Top Of The Pops in the early 1980s.

Their energetic live shows have seen them sell out shows across New Zealand and tour Australia a number of times. The band have also played alongside The 1975, The Naked and Famous, Jimmy Eat World and Manchester Orchestra and appeared at festivals Rhythm and Vines, Big Day Out, Homegrown and Splore. MTV Australia televised a live performance from Clap Clap Riot when they performed at The Lair alongside Evermore in Sydney, in April 2009.
