A 17-year old girl experiencing a sense of yearning and comfort in the traditional Japanese house "Mayoiga".

In striking black and white, a stray tomcat spans a year of sweet memories, recounting the events in his relationship with her, his young and fresh female friend. Affectionately, through the cat's ever-watchful eyes, everything is recorded: his discovery by her on that rainy day of spring, his first summer love, autumn's disappointments, and finally, winter's resolution. In the end, this is an urban tale of opposites: loneliness and friendship, heartbreak and love.

A young Japanese middle school girl finds that all the books she chooses in the library have been previously checked out by the same boy. Later she meets a very infuriating fellow... could it be her "friend" from the library? The boy's grandfather has a violin sales and service shop. Immersed in this story, Mizore and Nozomi begin to realize that there may be no such thing as being together forever.
