Why I decided to read this book:At first I was a bit reluctant to read this novel because my friend said it was the saddest book in the series. However, I couldn't not read the book because then, I knew I wouldn't be able to carry on reading the rest of the series.Category:This book was part of the 'a book with a male main character' category. I think that this category was interesting for me because it was a male perspective, which made me realise that the think differently from a female/me.Favourite quote and why:My favourite quote from this book was from the scene where James (the main character) was trying to make up with his girlfriend and Kerry (the girlfriend) asked her friends around the table if she should accept his apology and "everyone started to laugh, and comments flew around the table ranging from 'kick his arse'* to 'marry him and get it over with'." because it showed me that people have different opinions and perspectives.*sorry for the bad languageWhat I learned:I learned that there are people in this world that you can trust and can't trust. If you know someone well, and suddenly you can't trust them but they say 'you can trust me' then you should trust that person no matter what circumstance they're in.Character or setting that was interesting and why:I personally thought that in this book, Ewart was an interesting character because he is generally someone who was trusted throughout the series, but due to his suspicious actions, he lost his trustworthy position. This was interesting for me as I felt sorry for him because Ewart always did things for other people and even though he did, people still didn't trust him.I really enjoyed reading this book overall, just like the others in the series and I can't wait until I can read the next books.

1. I decided to read this book because I've been told it's the best book in the Cherub series.2. James is my favourite character in this book. You see a whole new side of him, the rebellious, delinquent side. He rides motorcycles and is a total badass in this book. Even though his role is to be a part of a motorcycle gang, he's still a trusted and reliable Cherub agent which really shows how much he's matured. 3. "She tried squatting in the hedge at the bottom of the road to take a piss and she fell into the drainage channel" was a quote I really liked because it shows some of the teenage humour incorporated within the book.4. The book made me think about how messed up a life would be if I were in a motorcycle gang. It made me feel both jealous and relieved to be in school and out of trouble.

I'm surprised myself how much I liked this book. I read the last book in this series 5 years ago but I definetely want to finish the rest now. Of course it was written for a younger audience but it was really exciting and I couldn't stop reading. It was more thrilling than some other novels for adults... I also liked Robert Muchamore's writing style more than I remember. I also “enjoyed” how many issues the author wrote about, that some people face everyday (domestic violence, abuse, loss etc.)I can not wait to grab myself a copy for book 10,11 and 12 :)

I am such a spy junkie! I love this author so much!!! This is definitely one of my two favorite spy series.I really gained insight into how some of the biggest criminal masterminds work. The way James and Bruce infiltrated the Mad Dogs was flawless and obviously well-planned. I couldn't put this book down once I started to read it. All of the pieces fit together and I wasn't able to find any plot holes whatsoever.The writing. Muchamore's writing is impeccable. He described everything without making anything seem boring. Each detail was important.The research. The moment that I was pulled into the gang conflict, I could tell that Muchamore certainly did his research. I learned about different models of guns and drugs and how the British underworld revolved.The action and suspense all through out the books kept me on edge. It made me think of all the possible scenarios that Muchamore was going to throw at me. The re-readability level of this book is off the hook. I read it three times and I never got tired of it. Every time I read it, I got caught up in all of the gun shootings, pursuits, and missions. It's just THAT good.Muchamore's style is one-of-a-kind and so is the originality and cleverness of the plot. You never know what's going to happen. It's going to leave you asking for more. A definite A+.

After only a few short days of not being able to pick the book down in anticipation of what will happen on the final page, I am done reading The General by Robert Muchamore, which is the 10th book in the CHERUB series.The book is a lot different from all the other books in the series, because it's almost like the series takes a break from all the intense missions and fights and has a little fun. It's almost like a relaxing vacation from the series so it's not always so intense and wild. It's really a genius idea by Robert Muchamore to put something that gives the readers a break for a little bit. And even though this may sound boring, it's fantastic because after reading nine books of action, the action doesn't seem as good. So the purpose of Muchamore was to give the series a break and when it returns, it seems even better. Pure Genius.The General was about James Adams and his younger sister Lauren,( Who both work for the top secret British government organization CHERUB, that trains children to work as spies,), and a group of other CHERUB members, that are selected to do a training exercise with ( against) the US Army at a brand new compound designed to simulate urban warfare. The compound basically looks like a city and civilians are paid to come and stay over the course of a week to simulate civilians in war. Although this seems like very serious stuff, the reality is, the training is a game of war with high tech paintball guns that remove you from the game for 24 hours. But, while the US Army is expecting the training to be easy and routine, the general for the opposing side has another idea and a trick that he needs to win.The book is fun to read and really enjoyable while also very well written. Robert Muchamore is a complete genius for a number of things. The first one is the "break" he included in the series. so many series don't do that and it becomes tiring to read. The second is the fact that with children spies, the entire series can escalate out of proportion and become ridiculously cheesy. There are far too many books that sound good, but destroy themselves because the author gets too unrealistic. The third, as I have said so many times before, is the ability Muchamore has to teeter on the edge of reality with his book ideas. Making them exciting but still with realistic plots.What the book clearly displays, is that the main character James, ( of whom I have become attached to) is 16 and a half years old and is almost done with his CHERUB career. In the last few books Muchamore has tried to conceal the fact a little bit, but in The General, he becomes more open, as James realizes that he basically has nothing left in his career and wants "One last Hooray". He achieves this by after being excluded from the training for his own safety, go to Las Vegas and helps his general win at the tables, by cardcounting. A technique that is used in blackjack to keep track of your odds of winning a hand. James is a great math student and the counting comes naturally. And after being discovered, he makes a narrow escape to conclude the thrilling ending of the book.Although there is to be another book that will be James' last appearance as a CHERUB agent. Muchamore is, to my dislike, setting up the series to switch over to Lauren. The real thrill of the series was how funny, likable, and daring James was, so when it does, I am contemplating not reading the series because Lauren is not a character that I particularly like. I'm sure James will still be in a couple of them as a MI6 agent or something but the series won't be the same. I'm really looking forward to the next book though and hope it sends James out with a bang.

In Maximum Security, James’s newest mission brings him to the sun-baked desert prison Arizona Max, home to 280 child criminals. One of them is the son of a weapons dealer who has been selling U.S. missiles to terrorists. If James can get the kid, CHERUB has a chance to stop the father. Getting into the prison is easy. Breaking out is the hard part.

Three separate but parallel stories of the U.S mortgage housing crisis of 2005 are told. Michael Burry, an eccentric ex-physician turned one-eyed Scion Capital hedge fund manager, has traded traditional office attire for shorts, bare feet and a Supercuts haircut. He believes that the US housing market is built on a bubble that will burst within the next few years. Autonomy within the company allows Burry to do largely as he pleases, so Burry proceeds to bet against the housing market with the banks, who are more than happy to accept his proposal for something that has never happened in American history. The banks believe that Burry is a crackpot and therefore are confident in that they will win the deal. Jared Vennett with Deutschebank gets wind of what Burry is doing and, as an investor believes he too can cash in on Burry's beliefs. An errant telephone call to FrontPoint Partners gets this information into the hands of Mark Baum, an idealist who is fed up with the corruption in the financial industry. Baum and his associates, who work at an arms length under Morgan Stanley, decide to join forces with Vennett despite not totally trusting him. In addition to Burry's information, they further believe that most of the mortgages are overrated by the bond agencies, with the banks collating all the sub-prime mortgages under AAA packages. Charlie Geller and Jamie Shipley, who are minor players in a $30 million start-up garage company called Brownfield, get a hold of Vennett's prospectus on the matter. Wanting in on the action but not having the official clout to play, they decide to call an old "friend", retired investment banker Ben Rickert, to help out. All three of these groups work on the premise that the banks are stupid and don't know what's going on, while for them to win, the general economy has to lose, which means the suffering of the general investor who trusts the financial institutions. That latter aspect may not sit well with Baum. Some of these assumptions may be incorrect and may be far more manipulative than they could have ever imagined, which in turn may throw curves into the process.
