All right, I finally finished this one. About halfway through I realized it had the potential to be a huge stinker, and I'm sorry to say that was borne out. While T.C. Boyle is a very good writer--The Tortilla Curtain is a work of the highest art--what keeps him from being a great one is that he tries to do too much sometimes. Talk Talk is supposed to be a thriller, Ok? And I'm all right with an author playing around with the conventions of a genre, but only when it's cool and fresh and doesn't detract from the flow of the story because, after all, what is a thriller without a good flow? Answer me this: if this is a thriller, then why does Boyle stop, herky-jerky, and insist on expounding on little lyrical moments at the most inopportune times? I mean, do I really need to know how the humid air is pounding on a character's face like a sledgehammer in the middle of a frantic foot race through traffic? I'm making up that specific poetic brush stroke, but he interrupts the flow of his most viscerally entertaining moments way too often.I'm sorry to say this, because it feels dirty to say, but he's too in love with the English language for his own good. Which is fine if you want to write a book of poetry, but please, Lord, if you're writing about a high-tempo cross-country car chase, please do not tell us about the roses at the side of the highway. It's just weird. Skip this one.

1979 American war film directed by Francis Ford Coppola

A boy named George Jung grows up in a struggling family in the 1950's. His mother nags at her husband as he is trying to make a living for the family. It is finally revealed that George's father cannot make a living and the family goes bankrupt. George does not want the same thing to happen to him, and his friend Tuna, in the 1960's, suggests that he deal marijuana. He is a big hit in California in the 1960's, yet he goes to jail, where he finds out about the wonders of cocaine. As a result, when released, he gets rich by bringing cocaine to America. However, he soon pays the price.

Middle-aged American movie star Bob Harris is in Tokyo to film a personal endorsement Suntory whiskey ad solely for the Japanese market. He is past his movie star prime, but his name and image still have enough cachet for him to have gotten this lucrative $2 million job. He has an unsatisfying home life where his wife Lydia follows him wherever he goes - in the form of messages and faxes - for him to deal with the minutiae of their everyday lives, while she stays at home to look after their kids. Staying at the same upscale hotel is fellow American, twenty-something recent Yale Philosophy graduate Charlotte, her husband John, an entertainment still photographer, who is on assignment in Japan. As such, she is largely left to her own devices in the city, especially when his job takes him out of Tokyo. Both Bob and Charlotte are feeling lost by their current situations, which are not helped by the cultural barriers they feel in Tokyo, those cultural barriers extending far beyond just not knowing the language. After a few chance encounters in the hotel, they end up spending much of their time hanging out together, each helping the other deal with their feelings of loss in their current lives. The friendship that develops between the two, which is not always a bumpy-free one, may be just for this specific place and time, but it may also have long lasting implications.

History is turned on its comic head when, in tenth-century England, King Arthur travels the countryside to find knights who will join him at the Round Table in Camelot. Gathering up the men is a tale in itself but after a bit of a party at Camelot, many decide to leave only to be stopped by God, who sends them on a quest: to find the Holy Grail. After a series of individual adventures, the knights are reunited but must face a wizard named Tim the Enchanter, killer rabbits and lessons in the use of holy hand grenades. Their quest comes to an end however when the Police intervene - just what you would expect in a Monty Python movie.

1975 film directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones

Jerry works in his father-in-law's car dealership and has gotten himself in financial problems. He tries various schemes to come up with money needed for a reason that is never really explained. It has to be assumed that his huge embezzlement of money from the dealership is about to be discovered by father-in-law. When all else falls through, plans he set in motion earlier for two men to kidnap his wife for ransom to be paid by her wealthy father (who doesn't seem to have the time of day for son-in-law). From the moment of the kidnapping, things go wrong and what was supposed to be a non-violent affair turns bloody with more blood added by the minute. Jerry is upset at the bloodshed, which turns loose a pregnant sheriff from Brainerd, MN who is tenacious in attempting to solve the three murders in her jurisdiction.

He and his team of medical doctors try to cure complex and rare diseases from very ill ordinary people in the United States of America.

A former lawyer attends a community college when it is discovered he faked his Bachelor's degree. In an attempt to get with a student in his Spanish class, he forms a Spanish study group. To his surprise, more people attend the study group and the group of misfits form an unlikely community.

American comedy television series created by Dan Harmon
