Finally some of the answers are forthcoming that turn a stylish manga into one that can actually be understood. Just when I was about to draw a chart of all the information that was scattered across the first volume and the beginning of this second one.Killy is still trying to make his way up through the megastructure, encountering other people and machines and something in between from time to time. Usually it doesn't lead to friendly conversations. There's lots of action.He's still in search of someone that possesses the Net Terminal Genes, but seemingly without knowing exactly what they are for. Pretty soon, though, Killy (and the reader) will learn of the motivation of at least one faction for finding them. And this manga starts to make sense.I'm going back to reading the Master Editions now and am actually looking forward to the second one of those.3.5 stars for this volume, which contains the last three chapters of the first Master Edition and the first two chapters of the second Master Edition. Confusing, I know. But it's the same story, just collected differently. I still recommend the Master Editions, because of the refined artwork, which makes it easier to identify things.

En 4-6 capítulos que hay por tomo, siempre hay algo que te sorprende, pero el resto es paja o tiene un desarrollo muy lento. Estaba decidida a abandonar este manga desde hace unos días porque en 7 tomos casi no ha pasado nada que influya en la trama principal y justo el último capítulo se queda interesante... En fin. De todas formas, no creo que lo continúe porque realmente me ha costado sacar ganas para siquiera leerme el medio tomo que me quedaba y he tardado un mes en leerme algo que habría leído en una tarde. Me daba muchísima pereza sabiendo lo que hay y me jode porque la historia en sí no está mal, pero llegué a Ajin por parecido con Tokyo Ghoul y a estas alturas éste ya me había volado la cabeza 80 veces. Además, creo que le falta mucha base que fundamente cosas que pasan o de la sociedad y cómo se comporta respecto a los Ajin.

Storia: ☆-☆☆Disegni: ☆☆☆☆☆Visto che Berserk procedeva fin troppo speditamente (ma anche no) qualche anno fa Miura si è preso una pausa dal sua manga più famoso e si è dedicato a questa storia autoconclusiva (o no?) frullandoci dentro tutto quello che gli veniva in mente al momento: mitologia greca, Nausicaa nella valle del vento, l'Attacco dei Giganti (sta avendo successo, quindi posso farci soldi pure io), Final Fantasy, ecc.In fin dei conti, l'autore aveva bisogno di una boccata d'aria dal mondo tetro e nichilista di Berserk e questa storia è stata una lettura spensierata arricchita da disegni meravigliosi (Miura è un vero Maestro), peccato che alcuni feticismi che in teoria avrebbero dovuto far ridere mi abbiano invece fatto accapponare la pelle...Peccato, il world-building dell'ambientazione era notevole e con 4-5 volumi in più il wrestler Delos e la piccola Prome(teo) sarebbero stati due personaggi interessanti invece di una pseudo-parodia di Gatsu e Pak... ma visto il finale aperto potremmo vedere un seguito in futuro.Possibilmente dopo la fine di Berserk, ma ormai ho davvero perso le speranze di vederne la conclusione.

My re-read of Tsutomu Nihei's Blame after 15 years was a real good one.An original cocktail of genres where Robert A. Heinlein's Universe meets Manga, cyberpunk distopian, France-Belgium Bande Dessinée and bio-mechanic aberrations out from a H. R. Giger's nightmare.In a world rife with decay and destruction, set maybe on earth, maybe in the future, where the oppressive atmosphere concrete and steel closed environment is a main character and you can see how author was an architect before starting his mangaka career, Killy wanders this endless dungeon looking for the Net Terminal Genes, meeting scattered human survivors and fighting nightmarish silicon creatures with the help of his overpowered gun, scientist Tsubo and a few other characters met along his travel, almost a quest for a personal grail filled with twists, action, and lots of speechless splash-pages with Killy and his shadow wandering alone in this gloomy dark world.Storyline was a real meandering one, sometimes so confusing that I just had to go back and see if I missed reading something, but this Manga is a real hyper-detailed creepy graphic masterpiece, an open-eye nightmare leaving to the reader the final task to fill all the gaps and left open questions.An intense image-focused, sometimes incoherent, read with barely any dialogue where the ride is far more important than the ending.Maybe you are not going to like everything here, the ending was an half disappointment for me, but this is a real classic dark cyberpunk tale where you are the co-author of the story.Just read it and enjoy.

Not an adaptation of beat writer William S. Burrough's novel but a mix of biography and an interpretation of his drug- induced writing processes combined with elements of his work in this paranoid fantasy about Bill Lee, a writer who accidentally shoots his wife, whose typewriter transforms into a cockroach and who becomes involved in a mysterious plot in North African port called Interzone. Wonderfully bizarre, not unlike Burrough's books.

The Kims - mother and father Chung-sook and Ki-taek, and their young adult offspring, son Ki-woo and daughter Ki-jung - are a poor family living in a shabby and cramped half basement apartment in a busy lower working class commercial district of Seoul. Without even knowing it, they, especially Mr. and Mrs. Kim, literally smell of poverty. Often as a collective, they perpetrate minor scams to get by, and even when they have jobs, they do the minimum work required. Ki-woo is the one who has dreams of getting out of poverty by one day going to university. Despite not having that university education, Ki-woo is chosen by his university student friend Min, who is leaving to go to school, to take over his tutoring job to Park Da-hye, who Min plans to date once he returns to Seoul and she herself is in university. The Parks are a wealthy family who for four years have lived in their modernistic house designed by and the former residence of famed architect Namgoong. While Mr. and Mrs. Park are all about status, Mrs. Park has a flighty, simpleminded mentality and temperament, which Min tells Ki-woo to feel comfortable in lying to her about his education to get the job. In getting the job, Ki-woo further learns that Mrs. Park is looking for an art therapist for the Parks' adolescent son, Da-song, Ki-woo quickly recommending his professional art therapist friend "Jessica", really Ki-jung who he knows can pull off the scam in being the easiest liar of the four Kims. In Ki-woo also falling for Da-hye, he begins to envision himself in that house, and thus the Kims as a collective start a plan for all the Kims, like Ki-jung using assumed names, to replace existing servants in the Parks' employ in orchestrating reasons for them to be fired. The most difficult to get rid of may be Moon-gwang, the Parks' housekeeper who literally came with the house - she Namgoong's housekeeper when he lived there - and thus knows all the little nooks and crannies of it better than the Parks themselves. The question then becomes how far the Kims can take this scam in their quest to become their version of the Parks.

Nishi, a police detective, has had to deal with a series of emotionally devastating events over the recent past. His only child, then preschool age, died two years ago. His wife, currently in the hospital, has been diagnosed with a terminal case of leukemia. And he develops a case of guilt when his colleague Horibe, during a stakeout which Nishi himself was supposed to be on but who, on Horibe's suggestion, was visiting his wife in the hospital instead at the time, gets shot point blank. That guilt is only exacerbated when Horibe, who as a result becomes paraplegic, is abandoned by his wife and child, with Horibe himself at a loss with what to do with his life as being a police was his sole identity. As a means to cope, Nishi becomes increasingly reckless, which affects the way he does his police work. That recklessness extends to his personal life when his wife's doctor recommends that she go home, Nishi, in the process, borrowing money from the yakuza to make ends meet. That recklessness also leads to him taking matters into his own hands as he tries to make his and his wife's life together, for however long it will last, a series of small yet special moments.

Wong Kar-Wai's movie about two love-struck cops is filmed in impressionistic splashes of motion and color. The first half deals with Cop 223, who has broken up with his girlfriend of five years. He purchases a tin of pineapples with an expiration date of May 1 each day for a month. By the end of that time, he feels that he will either be rejoined with his love or that it too will have expired forever. The second half shows Cop 663 dealing with his breakup with his flight attendant girlfriend. He talks to his apartment furnishings until he meets a new girl at a local lunch counter.

A movie studio is being torn down. TV interviewer Genya Tachibana has tracked down its most famous star, Chiyoko Fujiwara, who has been a recluse since she left acting some 30 years ago. Tachibana delivers a key to her, and it causes her to reflect on her career; as she's telling the story, Tachibana and his long-suffering cameraman are drawn in. The key was given to her as a teenager by a painter and revolutionary that she helped to escape the police. She becomes an actress because it will make it possible to track him down, and she spends the next several decades acting out that search in various genres and eras.
