Being shipped off to boarding school is never a good omen in a Goosebumps book. With your parents out of the picture, who's left to defend you if a monster comes calling? After badmouthing Mrs. Maaargh to a boy he didn't realize was her son, Paul figures his only shot to avoid being the teacher's prey is to put in a spectacular performance at the class talent show. Paul's a witty kid, and he can do impressive balloon animals...will that be enough to save him? Can anything keep Paul off Mrs. Maaargh's monstrous menu?  "But there is always one last chance—right?" —Creature Teacher, P. 107 R.L. Stine has written deeper stories than Creature Teacher, with much more surprising twists and turns, but this is a serviceable juvenile horror novel. Goosebumps books set at boarding school have a distinctive feel, with young characters whose parents aren't around so they have to learn to rescue themselves, and that can make for compelling drama. I'd give Creature Teacher one and a half stars. If you're a diehard Goosebumps fan, check it out.

Invasion of the Body Squeezers Part 1 is the story of the tragic breakdown of a 12 year old boy. Jack "Saucerman" Archer is a troubled child who suspects his neighbor of being a monster. His fixation on an unidentified meteor in orbit and fear of a new neighbor combine into a complex paranoid fantasy about an alien invasion. As his hallucinations become more intense, his family abandons him and his friends actively torment him.Unfortunately, the alien invasion is real. This is the first part of the Goosebumps adaptation of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. This half is the tension building portion of the story. I honestly think it is more interesting and fun than the original. I like Jack more than Miles. He feels more isolated and fearful than Miles every did. I think it is worth a read, as long as you read the second part too.

Well, THAT was interesting. No, I'm serious, I enjoyed it.Hannah is a 12-year-old girl living with her family in a small town. It's summer and she's bored. Her two younger twin brothers, age 6, are wild and crazy and take up all her parents' time and attention. She must find ways to amuse herself in the long, hot, summer months. Ever hear the phrase, "Idle hands are the devil's workshop?" Hannah meets the boy next door, a 12-year-old named Danny with red hair and freckles. He's moved into the old Dodson house. That's strange - it's sat empty for years. And Hannah never saw any moving van or people inside the house. Danny claims he's in her grade at her school, but she doesn't know him or any of his friends.Nevertheless, she becomes friends with Danny. Unfortunately, Danny hangs out with a bad crowd. His "friends" Alan and Fred are always daring him to do things and encouraging him to steal and pull pranks. Hannah often spies on the boys and spies on Danny and his activities - ostensibly because she suspects he might be a ghost, but I think she has a tiny crush on him - and sees how the boys treat him and goad him into criminal behavior.To add onto all of this, there is a shadowy dark phantom with glowing red eyes that keeps following her around and warning her to stay away from Danny. No one can see it but her. Who is it? What does it want?...In a shocking surprise twist, we realize that (view spoiler)[ Hannah is the ghost, not Danny. She died in a house fire 5 years ago, and she and her whole family are dead. I think she's here to save Danny... he and his thug friends end up setting fire to a crotchety old man's home and she saves Danny's life by helping him escape from the burning building.I liked Hannah's slow realization that she's the one who's dead - not Danny - and the way she amps up her courage by saying, "I'm a ghost, I can do this, I can't die again, these flames can't really hurt me." It must be hard for her, but she is very brave.  (hide spoiler)]

I recall my mom reading me this story when I was a kid. So that meant I already knew the story ending beforehand. I have read the exact same copy that that mom read for me that turned up to be a vintage now with all its pages transformed into yellowish colour and cracked cover which adds to the story horror!Anyhow, as the story is aimed to teens and kiddos it would be quite an adrenaline stimulatant, which, however, wasn't the case for me.I enjoyed reading it on the beach and trying to picture their fears along with my scenary.First book to finish on my vacation 

Gabe can't wait to explore the Great Pyramid with his Uncle Ben, but once he gets inside to search for mummies and treasure, Gabe discovers he may never get out.Uncle Ben woke us up early the next morning and drove to the pyramids outside al-Jizah. The air was already hot and sticky. The sun seemed to hang low over the desert like an orange balloon."There it is!" Sari declared, pointing out the window. And I saw the Great Pyramid rising up from the yellow sand like some kind of mirage. This is the first book in the series that seems to slip beyond the borders of the formula used to write the preceding Goosebumps books. The horror isn't quite as horrifying. The threat to Gabe, while dangerous, isn't what the reader anticipates given the title of the book and its alluring cover art. There are several instances where this book reads more an action-adventure in the vein of Indiana Jones rather than a horror novel, thanks to the ever-present sense of exploration and discovery: Once again, the sour smell invaded my nose. I held my breath to keep myself from gagging. It was the smell of four-thousand-year-old bodies, I realized. A smell that had been bottled up in this ancient hidden chamber - until now. Where most Goosebumps books leave the reader with a chilling sense that monsters may yet be hiding under the bed, The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb reaches a conclusion that's a little too buttoned up. It is, nonetheless, an enjoyable read packed with mummified bodies, unexplored tunnels, and ancient secrets.

McMurphy has a criminal past and has once again gotten himself into trouble and is sentenced by the court. To escape labor duties in prison, McMurphy pleads insanity and is sent to a ward for the mentally unstable. Bond's mission continues to take him to Afghanistan, where he must confront an arms dealer known as Brad Whitaker. Everything eventually reveals its self to Bond.

Based on the true story of the ill-fated 13th Apollo mission bound for the moon. Astronauts Lovell, Haise and Swigert were scheduled to fly Apollo 14, but are moved up to 13. It's 1970, and The US has already achieved their lunar landing goal, so there's little interest in this "routine" flight.. until that is, things go very wrong, and prospects of a safe return fade.

In 1963, Frances "Baby" Houseman, a sweet daddy's girl, goes with her family to a resort in upstate New York's Catskill Mountains. Baby has grown up in privileged surroundings and all expect her to go on to college, join the Peace Corps and save the world before marrying a doctor, just like her father. Unexpectedly, Baby becomes infatuated with the camp's dance instructor, Johnny Castle, a man whose background is vastly different from her own. Baby lies to her father to get money to pay for an illegal abortion for Johnny's dance partner. She then fills in as Johnny's dance partner and it is as he is teaching her the dance routine that they fall in love. It all comes apart when Johnny's friend falls seriously ill after her abortion and Baby gets her father, who saves the girl's life. He then learns what Baby has been up to, who with and worse, that he funded the illegal abortion. He bans his daughter from any further association with "those people". In the first deliberately willful action of her life, Baby later sneaks out to see Johnny, ostensibly to apologize for her father's rudeness, and ends up consummating her relationship with Johnny. A jealous fellow vacationer sees Baby sneaking out of Johnny's bungalow the next morning, and in an act of retribution, tells management that he is responsible for a theft the evening before, knowing he would not furnish his real whereabouts.

In London, wealthy Margot Mary Wendice had a brief love affair with the American writer Mark Halliday while her husband and professional tennis player Tony Wendice was on a tennis tour. Tony quits playing to dedicate to his wife and finds a regular job. She decides to give him a second chance for their marriage. When Mark arrives from America to visit the couple, Margot tells him that she had destroyed all his letters but one that was stolen. Subsequently she was blackmailed, but she had never retrieved the stolen letter. Tony arrives home, claims that he needs to work and asks Margot to go with Mark to the theater. Meanwhile Tony calls Captain Lesgate (aka Charles Alexander Swann who studied with him at college) and blackmails him to murder his wife, so that he can inherit her fortune. But there is no perfect crime, and things do not work as planned.

As the cavernous hotel shuts down for the season, the manager gives Jack a grand tour, and the facility's chef, the ageing Mr Hallorann, has a fascinating chat with Danny about a rare psychic gift called "The Shining", making sure to warn him about the hotel's abandoned rooms, and, in particular, the off-limits Room 237. Blackmailer Mr. Boddy (Lee Ving) gives each guest a weapon and tells him or her to kill butler Wadsworth (Tim Curry) to avoid being exposed. Add in Mrs. Peacock's (Eileen Brennan's) craziness and Mr. Green's (Michael McKean's) clumsiness, and meet a whole group tangled in a web of murder, lies, and hilarity.

Popular animated series featuring Scooby-Doo, a Great Dane who joins four California high school students (Fred, Daphne, Velma and Shaggy) on many quests to solve strange mysteries. Each mystery is current and unusual and involves the group stopping someone from wreaking certain havoc on the world. The gang were always driving in the Mystery Machine, returning from or going to a regular teenage function, when their van develops engine trouble or breaks down for a variety of reasons. Their (unintended) destination turns out to be suffering a monster problem, and the gang volunteers to investigate the case. Eventually, enough clues are found to convince the gang that the ghost or monster was a villain. Invariably, the ghost or monster was apprehended and revealed to be an apparently blameless authority figure or otherwise innocuous local who uses the disguise to cover up a crime or scam. After proclaiming "And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!", the villain was then taken away to prison, and the gang was allowed to continue on their way to their destination.

Nearly all of the action takes place in the squad room where the citizens and criminals are brought in to complicate the mix.
