Emanon: Memories of Emanon is a Japanese manga series by Kenji Tsuruta, based on a 1983 novel written by Shinji Kajio. It was serialized in Tokuma Shoten's seinen manga magazine Monthly Comic Ryū from September 2006 to January 2008, with its chapters collected in a single wideban volume. Another series, Emanon Wanderer, was serialized in the same magazine from October 2008 to December 2017, with its chapters collected in three volumes. The manga has been licensed for English release in North America by Dark Horse Comics.

Battle Royale (Japanese: バトル・ロワイアル, Hepburn: Batoru Rowaiaru) is the first novel by the Japanese author Koushun Takami. Originally completed in 1996, it was not published until 1999. The story tells of junior high school students who are forced to fight each other to the death in a program run by a fictional authoritarian Japanese government known as the Republic of Greater East Asia.The dystopian novel was previously entered into the 1997 Japan Horror Fiction Awards but was eventually rejected in the final round due to concerns over its depictions of students killing each other. Upon publication in 1999, the novel became a surprise bestseller.In 2000, one year after publication, Battle Royale was adapted into a manga series, written by Takami himself, and a feature film. The film was both controversial and successful, becoming one of the year's highest-grossing films as well as prompting condemnation by Japan's National Diet. The film spawned a sequel, and two more brief manga adaptations were also created.

Jisatsu Circle is a horror manga that combines its suicide culture and a theme seen in many Japanese horror material: the "cycle" of a deadly legacy to others.If you are just new to Japanese horror fiction, then Jisatsu Circle (or Suicide Club) is a really, really weird material to read. The gore may be too much. But there are numerous titles which are much weirder and gorier than this. What gives Suicide Club a slight edge over the others is its tone of an unknown evil lurking, perhaps in the subway, or in a computer screen at midnight, or in each tattoed earlobe. I have had the same feels while watching The Ring.But besides that, Jisatsu Circle from a technical standpoint is pretty much a straightforward story of an unending cycle of suicide, with a subtle commentary about Japan's Internet and prostitutuon cultures. Halfway through the story, everything is revealed and unlike other horror stories, there's no twist at the end.
