A colorful lifeBoth books in this bundle were among my favorites. Not least, because I was travelling to the U. K. while reading both, and saw the areas of London and the countryside mentioned. I was saddened by Eddie, who was like a dear man I grow up with, a beautiful, sporty young man who almost lost his life in an accident, and was thereafter damaged and left out of many activities.The brilliant Indian woman, Usha, was also a revelation, a woman assured of her place in the universe and unafraid to touch people, whether well or unwell.All of the characters in Maisie's life have come full circle and now she must make the decision to travel abroad in an effort to amass the wisdom of her mentor, Maurice. Godspeed, Maisie, Godspeed.

Maisie Dobbs continues to draw me in -- especially as she becomes more accepting of her abilities and her limitations (altho they seem fairly few and far between). In this book Maisie is asked to look into the death of an American volunteer in the Great War. He died during the war but his body and those of his comrades have just recently been discovered in the early 30s when this book is set. As with the other books in this series Maisie's personal life is always tentative but perhaps that is looking up too. Her relationship with her mentor Maurice forms a large part of this story as well. Each book in this series leaves you ready to read the next volume.

This is the first book in the series and I reading it first. The book has two sections The first starts as Maisie is asked to find out what his wife is doing by a client. After she has the answer she is still bother by the case.The next section we learn about her life. At the age of 13 she is apprenticed as a kitchen maid. Maisie discovers the library and decides to get up an hour early in order to read them. This is a good description of the life of the middle-class.The last section Maisie patron asked her to investigate the Retreat that her son is planning on joining. The twists that story takes will hold your attention.This is was a library book and had only Maisie Dobbs.I can't find it listed on Goodreads

Once a successful and selfish Wall Streeter, Kevin Finn is on a downward spiral as he realizes he hates his life, which led to him trying to commit suicide. To regroup, Kevin heads back to his hometown of Taylor, Texas to live with his straight-laced, recently widowed, aeronautical engineer twin sister Amy Cabrera and her teenaged daughter Reese Cabrera, the latter who is not happy to see her uncle as he did not support them in their time of grief. Shortly after his arrival in Taylor, Kevin discovers from his protector Yvette who no one else can see that he is the only surviving of the thirty-six righteous souls of his generation, something he cannot tell anyone. His God appointed mission under Yvette's protection is to find then anoint the replacement thirty-five, which he is to do by helping others, those specific tasks which he has to listen to the universe which will direct him. The successful completion of each task will result in a vision leading to finding the thirty-five. Kevin's problems are that he may not want to do any of these tasks either in seeming harm to himself, in his own selfishness and in seeing some of those he is directed to help as being even more selfish than him. It is made all the more difficult as some of his actions may seem more than just a little odd to his family and friends, especially to Amy who may believe that Kevin is still suffering from his suicidal tendencies. Through it all, Yvette and her colleagues still have to find out what happened to the original thirty-five and why Kevin was spared.

2018 American police procedural television series

The Boys is set in a universe in which superpowered people are recognized as heroes by the general public and owned by a powerful corporation, Vought International, which ensures that they are aggressively marketed and monetized. John Doe is an intelligent adventure series, named after the main character, albeit not by name: 'John Doe' is called thus because nobody knows the name of the man who literally fell from the sky, naked, in the sea near an obscure island. When Cambodian fishermen save him, it soon becomes clear his memory is in a paradoxical state: he has total amnesia concerning his own past, even his real name, but has more factual knowledge stored in his brain then even the Google computer banks on every possible other subject, as if he had memorized the Library of Congress, so one rarely needs to read anything when he's around. He also is intelligent and inquisitive enough to understand and use much of that knowledge, and keeps rolling into all kinds of weird mysteries, teaming up with various characters, each of which must first be convinced he's legit, such as police detectives Frank Hayes and Jamie Avery, but gets frustrated by finding his own story the most elusive, probably linked to some secret experiment.
