Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw is a novel written by American author and cartoonist Jeff Kinney, the third book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. The book acts as a journal and follows the adventures of Greg Heffley, the narrator of the book, who is in the second half of his seventh-grade year. This book was released in the US on January 13, 2009.The book begins on January 1, with Greg talking about his family's New Year's resolutions. Life becomes more difficult for Greg and his best friend Rowley when their school bus route is "rezoned" to the Whirley Street neighborhood, so they have to walk to and from school. Greg also deals with being compared to his father Frank's boss's sons, who all play sports and always seem to be outside exercising. Frank is jealous of this and wants his sons to be like Boss's sons. After conflicts over Greg wanting to stay inside and watch TV on Saturdays and Frank stealing his school snacks, Frank makes him sign up for intramural soccer after an incident at the church on Easter.

Another fun time reading a classic and nostalgia filled book to my kids!Probably the best part of the experience was when it came to sharing my progress on Goodreads and the wide array of responses I got. Everything from, “Wow, I haven’t read this in years! I was one of my favorites!” to, “WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU READING!” I mean, it is a book about a vampire bunny and if you saw the cover come across your feed, and you had never heard of it, you might have had a similar shocked reaction!I did enjoy reading this to my kids and have enjoyed the fact that they have now consumed three straight books one chapter a night with great enthusiasm. However, unlike Charlie and the Chocolate factory, it did not quite translate to a 5-star read for me as an adult and, if I had not been enjoying it along with my kids I might have not enjoyed it quite as much. But, still, a classic!One of my favorite things about this book is that it does have a similar feel to Dracula in the narration by Harold the dog. His delivery and diction felt very similar to Harker’s letters in Dracula. That was a really cool connection – and I hope if my kids get to read Dracula some day they remember Bunnicula!So, either enjoy a nostalgic “horror” trip to your childhood or continue to be confused as to why someone would want to read this. Either way, Bunnicula is not going anywhere in the annals of classic youth literature

Over the last few years, I have been reading some of the finest horror literature in the world, delving deep into the British ghost story masters James and Le Fanu, the spritualist-horror masterpieces of Machen and Blackwood, the darker American visions of Bierce, Chambers and that dark prince of the macabre, Poe, the early 20th-century efflorescence helmed by talents like Lovecraft, Smith and Howard and of course the current masters of the form such as Ligotti and Campbell as well as emerging giants like Barron and Pugmire.And now I've read Shaun Hutson. This isn't the worst thing ever - writers like Richard Laymon and the authors of a hundred disposable splatter paperbacks from the 80s boom were as bad and often worse - but it's not good by any means. The writing is amateurish and in need of editing, the plot is a mish-mash of cliches and poor taste, the characters are cardboard cut-outs and there's no real moment of dark epiphany, just a series of rather obvious gross-outs that culminate in the usual predictable 'twist' ending. For all that, I'm giving this a two-star rating simply because of its honesty - Hutson clearly set out to write exactly the kind of novel that he wound up writing. It's trash, but at least it's honest trash and nothing - the title, the blurb, the cover art or what you can glean by scanning the first few pages in a bookstore - pretends otherwise.

Deadpool (Wade Winston Wilson) is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN) are a folk rock supergroup made up of American singer-songwriters David Crosby and Stephen Stills, and English singer-songwriter Graham Nash. When joined by Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young as a fourth member, they are called Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (CSNY). They are noted for their intricate vocal harmonies, often tumultuous interpersonal relationships, political activism, and lasting influence on American music and culture. CSN formed in 1968 shortly after Crosby, Stills and Nash performed together informally in July of that year, discovering they harmonized well. Crosby had been asked to leave The Byrds in late 1967, and Stills' band Buffalo Springfield had broken up in early 1968; Nash left his band The Hollies in December, and by early 1969 the trio had signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records. Their first album, Crosby, Stills & Nash, was released in May 1969, from which came two Top 40 hits, "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" [#21] and "Marrakesh Express" [#28]. In order to tour the album, the trio hired drummer Dallas Taylor and session bassist Greg Reeves, though they still needed a keyboardist; Ahmet Ertegun suggested Neil Young, who had played with Stills in Buffalo Springfield, and after some initial reluctance, the trio agreed, signing him on as a full member. The band, now named Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, started their tour, and played their second gig at Woodstock Festival in the early morning hours of August 18, 1969.
