Professor Layton and the Curious Village is a puzzle adventure video game for the Nintendo DS system. It was developed by Level-5 and published by Level-5 in Japan and Nintendo worldwide. It was released in Japan in 2007 and worldwide the following year. It was eventually re-released in Australia using the British English localisation and European artwork to replace the previously released North American localisation. Curious Village is the first game in the Professor Layton series, directly followed by Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box.
