I HAVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS AND STUFF.So yeah, for those of you who don't know, there are going to be these two graphic novels which basically fill in the gaps between The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra (which comes out ... who knows when, but sometime next year). So like, hopefully stuff will be explained. And yeah. I'm so tired I can't even think right now. But YAAAY I'M EXCITED. It still won't be the same as having the TV show, and I'll still be drooling like a rabid dog waiting for TLOK, but OH WELL it's better than nothing. Or than watching the original series fifty billion times.(JK, actually ... watching the original series fifty billion times is awesome. It never gets old.)ANYWAY, I read a leak from this book via Tumblr. (Sorry, I had a link but it doesn't work anymore ... It was probably taken down.)So yeah, I'm not really sure if I'm excited or pissed off. I guess it depends on how everything turns out. Basically, these are the spoilers as revealed by the leak: (view spoiler)[- Characters like Roku, Mai, Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors, Ty Lee, and the Freedom Fighters will be making an appearanceYAY. Look, I'm a total Kataang supporter, but really, it's a little too much. Or maybe way too much. It's kind of overkill. Like, alright, I get that they're an item now, but the whole "sweetie" thing just feels uncharacteristic of both of them. It really weirds me out.- The colonies are indeed in a state of unrest, and there have been riots agains the peace movementWoohoooo. By battling both teachers and students, he attempts to prove himself as a great duelist.Having previously taught at a junior high school where many of my students were obsessed with this series (and similar ones), I felt drawn to reading it to see what all the fuss was about. Maybe you already have to be an anime or manga fan to "get it," because I just didn't. I really, really didn't. The constant battle scenes, which are just characters throwing down cards and yelling directions with alternatingly angry or surprised looks, became so painfully redundant and confusing that I couldn't read fast enough for them to be over. The storyline is hopelessly dull, with Jaden effortlessly and seemingly magically winning every duel that comes his way. And frankly, I just couldn't get past nearly every sentence ending with multiple exclamation marks!! It's too intense!! And really not that exciting to be deserving of so many exclamation marks!!On the other hand, picking up this graphic novel inspired me to learn about the difference between anime and manga, as well as the original Japanese formatting (meant to be read from right to left, starting in the upper-right corner). That difference in itself would be enough to excite some young readers into giving this series a chance.So, unfortunately, I have not developed a hidden appreciation for manga. At all. Although I'm glad to have experienced it, and will continue to appreciate its ability to get many young people reading.

Further complications beset the life of young, aspiring magician Max when he finds only he can see and hear the ghosts that have come to reside in his family's relatively new home (former home of the ghosts). Like Max, two of the ghosts are children, who also need a living person to help them defeat an evil apparition named Phears aiming to capture them and release mean spirits back into the world on Halloween.

A number of fighters are invited to DOA, an invitational martial arts contest. They travel to the tournament island by plane, until they have to jump out mid-flight with parachutes, and then have until sundown to reach the main island to be entered into the tournament. Fighters are then pooled against one another in a knock-out style tournament, with the loser of a battle sent home, and the winner progressing to the subsequent round. The plot revolves around four female fighters who begin as rivals, but subsequently find themselves teaming up against another force.

In the far future water is the most valuable substance. Two space pirates are captured, sold to a princess, and recruited to help her find her father who disappeared when he found information dangerous to the rulers. A real Space Opera with sword fights, explosions, fighting robots, monsters, bar fights and time warps.

It is post-World War III. War is outlawed. In its place, are matches between large Robots called Robot Jox. These matches take place between two large superpowers over disputed territories. The main character Achilles is a pilot in one of the large Robots. The plot revolves around him and a match for the state of Alaska.

'Hell' is the name of the hero of the story. He's a prisoner of the women who now run the USA after a nuclear/biological war. Results of the war are that mutants have evolved, and the human race is in danger of extinction due to infertility. Hell is given the task of helping in the rescue of a group of fertile women from the harem of the mutant leader (resembling a frog). Hell cannot escape since he has a bomb attached to his private parts which will detonate if he strays more than a few hundred yards from his guard.

After a wave of reports of mysterious attacks involving people and pets being eaten by the traditionally docile fruit, a special government task force is set up to investigate the violent fruit and put a stop to their murderous spree. Included in this crack team are a lieutenant who never goes anywhere without his parachute, an underwater expert who's never out of his scuba gear, and a master of disguise who conceals his appearance by dressing as a black Adolf Hitler.

Angel, a member of a punk rock band in the apocalyptic future, is kidnapped by Mok, a legendary superocker. Obsessed with a dark experiment, Mok plans to use Angel's voice to summon a demon from another dimension. The rest of the band follows Mok to Nuke York in an attempt to get her back.

Having been hopelessly repressed and facing eventual certain death at the chicken farm where they are held, Rocky the rooster and Ginger the chicken decide to rebel against the evil Mr. and Ms. Tweedy, the farm's owners. Rocky and Ginger lead their fellow chickens in a great escape from the murderous farmers and their farm of doom.

The Dorks are an evil alien species who have on their hands a bunch of peculiar explosives called the microgalaxies - these are galaxies that are so small, they can be held by a normal human being's hand, and are so explosive to the point where, if they even hit the ground from a certain height, it could cause the total destruction of the universe. The Dorks have chosen Earth as the place to hide these microgalaxies, with the Dorks disguising themselves as humans in order to go unnoticed, and plan to carry their plan to take over the universe there. Their biggest enemies are the Dork Hunters, an organization of aliens whose goal is to retrieve the microgalaxies from the Dorks in order to save the Universe. The series focuses on a team of five members of this organization, based in the small city of Paramus-Mac, Nikki, Romeo, and their earthbound human friends Eddie and Angie-as they try to retrieve the microgalaxies in Earth from the Dorks, while the supreme commander and the second-in-command of the Dorks' Earth faction, camouflaged, respectively, as a chihuahua named Fido and his owner, Paramus High's principal Jones, try to take them down every time they get the chance.

The bossy, implicitly man-hungry widow Mrs. Betty Slocombe supervises the attractive Miss Shirley Brahms (with a terribly common Cockney accent) -with first choice of customers, on commission- the sale of women's clothes and accessories; the sales star at the gentleman's side is Mr. Wilberforce Clayborne Humpries, an implied closet-gay true gentleman, whose successive superiors are first obviously nearly retired Mr. Ernest Grainger and later formerly independent Mr. Grosman while the successive cheeky juniors are Mr. Dick Lucas and Mr. Bert Spooner. A regular visitor, and the only manual laborer but apparently best paid, is union representative Mr. Mash. Their interaction with each-other and the customers is quite formal in principle, but turns out comical in practice.
