I read the Swedish translation to give a short presentation about it. Reading children's books is something adults that have just begun to pick up a language are encouraged to do, but while the book was easy to read - it was also pretty boring. The thing that bothered me the most was that it is obviously a boy's book, since the girl-companion is... well, she's there, but that's about it. Having a male hero in a book is great, but one would assume that we have entered a decade in which one could construct a story with a set of characters that both boys and girls can identify with.

+ The power levels of the CP9 guys are impressive but they're all going down.+ I hate their three headed judge.+ The Battles are exciting and yeah, 'Spanda' is a terrible megalomaniacal idiot. I am all astonished.+ They are hurting the King Bulls. Take them out, all of them. + Wow, the Navy totally lied to the Elbath warriors to get them to work for them. I'm *totally* surprised. But Usopp got to find more Elbath warriors to befriend, so maybe it works out. + I'm totally hating the Ms. Golden Week miniseries, but I liked seeing Mr. Two 'somewhat' normal.+ So the girl and puppet guy now have unknown Devil Fruit powers. That should be fun.+ Wow, idiot (Spandam) really thinks a lot of himself. And the gold transponder snail looks cool, in a creepy sort of way. Wow, he's whiny and a coward. Please say he dies.+ Gear Two? LOVE!!!! The steam is a nice touch too. Luffy, even more powerful. That's kinda scary. And he figured out their Sheer step. That's scary considering he's usually not the brightest bulb. And he shrugs off what it might be doing to his body because he's doing it to ensure he loses none of his crew. Ahhhhh. He's already defeated one CP9, but there's more to go. + Kororo's figured out about Luffy: "When the fight is over, the world will ring with the sound of that Straw Hat Boy's name."

The Straw Hats are back together and setting out on their first adventure of the New World. It’s like they were never separated; they’re goofing around, helping each other out and, of course, getting into all kinds of trouble. This volume is set-up for the Fish-Man Island arc, covering the Sunny’s undersea journey and providing world-building for the land of fish-men and merpeople. The undersea journey makes full use of the possibilities of the deep sea - there’s all kinds of gross and horrifying creatures down there in the real world, so you can just imagine what kind of monstrosities are there in the One Piece world. Being underwater also gives an immediate sense of vulnerability and danger to the crew because heading out into the water will neutralise half the crew’s abilities.Fish-Man Island is about what you’d expect given what we’ve heard of it so far, so it lacks a sense of wonder and awe that locations like Skypiea did, but the plot threads that are set up for this arc are interesting. There’s a lot of factions in conflict with each other, and while the Straw Hats would have had some allies here they get turned against the crew due to some misadventures and misunderstandings. We’ve seen what the fish-men are capable of all the way back in Arlong Park and not only are these fish-men more powerful than him but the Straw Hats are also fighting them in their home turf. It’ll be interesting to see whether the crew’s major upgrades are enough to give them a fighting chance.

The weird comedy-horror fun continues as the Straw Hats take the fight to Moria and his zombies with the aim of getting their shadows back. The highlights were Chopper's fight against Hogback and Usopp's fight against Perona. Chopper hasn't received much character development beyond his introductory arc, so it was good to see him get some here. Seeing him fight against someone respected because of their unethical approach to medicine showed a determined and principled side to him that we haven't seen much of before as he's usually delegated to comic relief. Similarly, while Usopp's fight starts off comically, we end up seeing how smart and tactical he can be when put on the spot. I like the idea of him spontaneously adopting the Sniper King persona whenever he needs a confidence boost. I didn't like how creepy they made Sanji though - up to this point he's just been a dope who gets infatuated with any pretty lady he sees, but they made him act really perverted in this volume. The fights have been over and done with in just the right amount of time and haven't dragged out like some of the ones in other arcs have.Luffy's fight with Moria hasn't been anything really exciting yet, but seeing the zombie behemoth Oars messing everything up with Luffy's absentmindedness and goofiness has been hilarious. It's scary to think what it's capable of now that it's totally under Moria and Hogback's control, because it will have all of Luffy's combat prowess but none of his compassion.

Four children learn the origins of Halloween customs while trying to save the life of their friend.

After years of unmasking fake ghosts, the Mystery Gang have separated and acquired new careers, including Daphne being a reporter. For her birthday, Fred invites the whole gang to join their trip to Louisiana for Daphne's television show. They have many adventures but every ghost is just a villain in a costume. They soon meet Lena Dupree, who takes them to Moonscar Island in the hopes to encounter a real ghost. Things soon become creepy and the gang find themselves caught between vicious werecats and zombies lead by the ghost of Moonscar the Pirate.

Next door to Bernard's shop is the Nifty Gifty gift shop run by Fran, probably Bernard's only friend in the world. When Bernard's accountant goes on the run Bernard employs stress victim, Manny to help in his shop. This leads to a series of surreal adventures around the shop.

An unambitious slob from Liverpool has been awakened from a high-tech stasis chamber 3 million years in the future to find he may be one of the last humans alive. Hopelessly lost in space, this crew of mostly sad-act bachelors kill time and share adventure aboard the mining ship Red Dwarf.

This quintessentially British sitcom is about Grace Brothers, a department store in London which is owned and kept traditional, almost pre-war (e.g. precise dress code for ladies frills and gentlemen's hats according to rank), by two brothers who look old enough to have fought in the Boer war but rarely appear, as most scenes play on one floor where Mr. Cuthbert Rumbold is the executive (meaning he enjoys an endless parade of foxy but stupid secretaries) in charge of management while his dignified floor walker, Captain Stephen Peacock, has daily charge over two small sales teams. The bossy, implicitly man-hungry widow Mrs. Betty Slocombe supervises the attractive Miss Shirley Brahms (with a terribly common Cockney accent) -with first choice of customers, on commission- the sale of women's clothes and accessories; the sales star at the gentleman's side is Mr. Wilberforce Clayborne Humpries, an implied closet-gay true gentleman, whose successive superiors are first obviously nearly retired Mr. Ernest Grainger and later formerly independent Mr. Grosman while the successive cheeky juniors are Mr. Dick Lucas and Mr. Bert Spooner. A regular visitor, and the only manual laborer but apparently best paid, is union representative Mr. Mash. Their interaction with each-other and the customers is quite formal in principle, but turns out comical in practice.
