Edward Rutherfurd also wrote about her in one of his books. The problem is that I can't remember which one. I'd have to check. I'm fairly certain that it's Sarum, but just not 100%. The article states: "Her mark, 'di Ego Godiva Comitissa diu istud desideravi', appears on a charter purportedly given by Thorold of Bucknall to the Benedictine monastery of Spalding. However, this charter is considered spurious by many historians.[8]"
It is apparent that mark = charter, but what is this, and what is the purpose and cultural significance.
