The Case Of The Class Clown
The more Jigsaw Jones books I read to my special needs teen age son the more I really, really like them. The author not only writes the mystery that the story is for that particular book, but she also almost ALWAYS includes a book full title and author that Jigsaw's Dad reads to him at night and-or his teacher reads to the class. Giving the reader of this book and 'exposure' to other books and authors they may not even give a second thought to; hats off to you Mr Preller for doing this! This story Jigsaw and his side kick Mila are hired to figure out who put slime in a gym sock; while they have a 'suspect' in mind they don't want to say he did it since he is their best friend. While they study the evidence then another 'crime' hits then another throwing them off their track of original thoughts... in the end they turn the 'gags' around onto the person doing it and he-she takes it in stride. AND because the end was such a shock to the kids they ask 'why' and the answer was to be 'fit in' but the kids tell them that they don't have to be silly, or loud or like someone else to just be themselves they like them just as they are. Again hats off Mr Preller for just filling this story with life lessons for these young readers but not 'being in their face' with that information!
