The Blue Cat of Castle Town

You're probably wondering why this book was awarded the Newbery Honor. It's obviously not very popular at all - less than 100 people have rated it! That should tell you something, right?Wrong. I thought so, too, until I actually tried it for myself. This is the story of a blue cat who saved a small Vermont town.Yes, you read that correctly: a blue cat. This isn't a very common cat, as I'm sure you know. But it's important because it's the only one who can hear the river sing. And once it has learned the river's song, it has to teach it to a human. The song is more powerful than most; it brings peace and happiness to those who hear it. And in a village like Castle Town, where an evil businessman spreads an evil song of his own, it needs to be heard. That is the blue cat's job: to teach the song to a human, so that it will eventually overpower the evil enchantment the businessman has set over the town. This was a very fun read. Although I had my doubts at first, I was amazed by how well the author spins this uncommon, yet satisfying tale. But it's not all fiction. Coblentz based her novel on a real story. Here's the proof, straight from the Metropolitan Museum: http://www.metmuseum.org/works_of_art...I look forward to reading more books like this one. The people who gave it a Newbery medal knew what they were doing.
