On the Way

Some people go to church to think about things. Some people go to the bar. But the next morning I went to the library. I ran my fingers along the book spines as I paced up and down the rows, both hands reaching out, touching them all.\
Vargas bridges two landscapes in her stories - the internal and personal, the young and old, the bonds of family and friendship - and the external landscape of the United States and Guatemala and El Salvador. These short stories carry an emotional weight, poignant and heartbreaking in some, humorus and light in others. This was a great collection, and I hope to see more from Cyn Vargas.
