Books like Honor's Quest

This is 3rd in the series and my least favorite. Whoever heard of a Main Character in a romance dying? Poor Monte survived a fire and a brutal beating in book 2, but he gets killed by a bull and before he even sees his child being born. And it is so obvious he dies so that Abby can end up with Cole who fell in love with her in book 1. I like Cole but not with Abby. I felt that the author should have given him a new love interest after Abby and Monte married. I also did not like the way Abby reacted to Monte's death. Her anger and bitterness were over dramatic for her character. The only thing I really liked about this book was the return of a priest and the Irish settlers to the mission so it gets 2 stars for that.
